I'm teaching them healthy habits now so that they can live long and happy lives. Tuesday transformation. Why do I do this? Keep showing up all the time, yada yada yada! Why do I do what I do? . I struggled to find that many photos. Didn't like having my photo taken. Hid my stomach and hips behind big handbags. Always. Hid my arms and shoulders behind my hair. Always. . The product of overeating and overeating badly at that. Didn't exercise. Had no energy. . I started feeling like that, probably after the death of my Mum . It knocked my confidence severely. So I ran away and hid from my issues and started over. I got someway back. Roll on a few more years. My Dad died. It threw my world upside down again. I put on a hard exterior shell and became pretty cold emotionally. . I had my daughter aged 30. I love her dearly but returning to work, I'd lost my confidence, my mojo and any sense of ambition or being able to achieve. . I decided to do a challenge, having got back to doing a little exercise. I took some persuading. I was sceptical. I was surprised though, by what I could do, not what I couldn't. . I've gained way more emotionally than I could ever physically. Why am I telling you this? Been having a shit time with my mental health the past few weeks and my anxiety is through the roof. Instead of sitting feeling sorry for myself and letting it take over, I’m trying to channel it into something positive and push through my training cranking out the PB’s. 40kg facepull for 10 reps tonight which is almost double my last PB. “You are an IRONMAN” and I think I really deserved it this time more then ever. It was a really hard day for me. My second Ironman showed me in a rough way that you can not plan a race like this. It is clear that you will have up and downs, for this finish I gave everything and I had more downs. #ironmanswitzerland hard-won. I think the pics on the red carpet and the finish line show everything. All my emotions in this moment. In my first Ironman two years ago I finish in 11h 17min (in Austria) on a good day last Sunday I finished in 11h 16min on a bad day! I count this as a huge success. @ironmanswitzerland is/was a tough course and it challenged me! Going out of the race was never an option although with all the pain I had after 140k on the bike and on the last 12k in the marathon. #nopainnogain Anyway I did it. 🤙🏻 Now some days/weeks rest also to analyse what was wrong and looking for my next challenge. #ifitdoesntchallengeyouitdoesntchangeyou IRONMAN BABY!! Proof that Tim also came to Italy 😂😂 Truth is, Tim really hates being in front of the camera. As I began to post pics here and on @st.matthewsyouthgillette I had a lot of people asking about how Tim felt staying at home or "didn't Tim go with you?" Now, this awesome hubby of mine is a great sport and he will cheerfully and willingly be included in any photo I ask (see eiffle tower photo for reference! 🥰) however, I try not to ask him to take a lot. For me, photos enrich and bring joy to the experience...for him, photos are distracting and cheapen the experience. So you'll see a few with him I captured from afar and a couple very special memories I really wanted to capture with him, like this serene sunset walk around a rarely quiet St. Peter's Square. I don't get mad or force him to take more pictures than necessary because I ADMIRE that quality about him. As we have traveled the world (something I have always had a desire to do since I was little,) I have begun to experience an intense and deep sadness as I watch the thousands of people that are literally only travelling for their instagram feed or bragging rights. They'll show up to a location, spend an hour perfecting one shot, checking their phone or camera repeatedly and when they nail it, they leave. They don't wander and enjoy their time, they don't even truly LOOK at the breathtaking site in front of them...they only look through their camera. It breaks my heart because these beautiful locations are flooded and only a tiny fraction are there for the right reasons. That got a little negative, lol...so I guess today's piece of advice is to LIVE IN THE MOMENT! Especially those that have grown up entirely in a generation where screens are accessible. When you encounter something breathtaking...let it take your breath away. Don't pull out your phone. Or take a quick snap and put it away. Don't put a filter on it or post it until you're back home. Put your phone away when you're with the ones you love. Look in each other's eyes and make sure you know that you are seen and significant.

I’m a firm believer that we are the creators of our own reality. If you ask twenty people what they see in a picture, you’re likely to get twenty different answers. Because we all come, bringing our own experiences to the table. That being said these thoughts create our reality. And the thoughts we have about our reality create our emotions. I love having the power to practice thinking any thought I want to, that creates a feeling I desire to feel more of. When I’m stuck trying to figure out what feeling I’d like to create, I always default back to a version of this thought “love is always the right answer”. If I can’t get to love, then I get as close as my brain will let me. happy days... couple years ago I was slightly over weight and didn't really know where I was going with things. This weekend I competed at my local gym along with some pretty fierce athletes, I performed really well got a pb on my weightlifting and gave it my all. 🏋️‍♂️ The same with my open uni work this year, every essay, I had given it every effort, my first essay barely passed... but I didn't give up, my following essays I got 10% better and ended up with a very respectable pass. 👍 looking forward to next year! #ifitdoesntchallengeyouitdoesntchangeyou #knowledgeispower #openuni #crossfit #buildabetteryou #challengeyourself #competition #learningtoadapt

I did my first triathlon yesterday - 800m swim (Garmin said 1200 for me because I guess I can’t swim a straight line outside a pool), 16.9 mile bike and 3 mile run. The swim was terrible. I came out of the water last- it took me 36 minutes. I’ve been training with a coach for the last 6 weeks but pretty much forgot everything when the distance seemed so far to the buoys. The pics don’t show where the first buoy is and the closest was for the kid swim. We started on the shore to the side you can’t see. We did have amazing weather for the event. It is done and I know that I won’t have another this season to think about which is good. I need time to forget how bad my swim was! 😂 I was first in my age group. Well... But you know what, I also never let myself dream big enough to WANT to try something like this. I liked to stay right inside my little box where I felt safe and comfortable! I’m here to tell you that you’ll never know what you’re truly capable of without challenging yourself and stepping outside your comfort zone! . . 🌟 Sometimes it takes seeing someone else do something you want to do to believe that its actually possible! When coaching people, it’s important to remember that the human body was built with the intention to resist gravity. Often, when an athlete has a difficult time understanding verbal queues, it becomes necessary to add a physical one. Kylie here is a 12 yo soccer player. She was having a tough time, as most of us do at first, learning to transfer her weight from leg to leg without overloading her knees. The problem is, if we push her knee where we want it to go, we’ll notice that the knee pushes even harder against us, into the poor movement. If we instead push against the joint we want to move, her hip in this case, we put pressure directly on it and watch her movements begin to improve. In short, give the joint something to resist and watch it naturally attempt to serve its true purpose. Incase you missed it, I’ve set myself a Bench Hop Challenge. I’m doing it for a few reasons but mainly I HATE THEM AND I SUCK AT THEM. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to my emotions lately. One thing that I’ve noticed is how closely fear and excitement are related to each other. Many books and podcasts that I’ve listened to say the same thing-fear and excitement live in the same neighborhood. I’ve found this to be so true! When I’m full of fear, my future worries go crazy in my head! And when I’m full of excitement, my future anticipation also goes crazy! It’s up to me which one I want to foster. Because they are both there. I remember when I got the call for my transplant that I coined the terms “excitified” and “terrexcited” because I felt both the emotions of terrified and excited together so much!!! And I experienced both. Life post transplant gave me so many experiences to practice experiencing both. I’m not upset about the times I decided to indulge in fear. I needed to. And sometimes I still need to. But I’m learning and seeing more, day by day, that I have a choice of which one to foster. Each day, I literally get to wake up and decide, where is my focus going to be? What patterns am I going to repeat? What thoughts are going to bring me into line with the version of me that I already am and want to be more of? I hope you all have a beautiful Sunday morning!! I survived the #2020challenge & boy was it hard. The warm up was easy, the challenge itself oh boy was it super hard. This post is a couple days over due.. I HAVE LOST 101.2lbs in just ELEVEN MONTHS!!!🔥🔥 I am honestly LOST for words. I just want to take a moment to say how PROUD I am of myself!! ❤️ I have lost all 101.2lbs naturally. I did not have surgery, I did not use any pills or supplements. All I’ve done is eat healthy & exercised!! Okay, yeah that makes it sound simpler than it is... it was not easy!! I have put in countless hours and late nights at the gym. I have tracked my food according to @ww . I have said no to get togethers, to bowls full of ice cream and I have used all my willpower when out to eat. I have had cheat days, I have had days that I have binged. I have had weeks that I’ve been perfectly on track. These past 11 months have been the best of my life. I have had my fair shares of highs and lows. But I have truly loved this journey. This journey has not only strengthened and better me physically, but my mental health is also the best it’s ever been. The best thing I have learned from losing 101.2lbs is that you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. The best thing I ever did was believe in myself. I have learned to love myself. I have learned willpower and how to control my eating habits. I have grown physically and mentally. I want to say thank you to the girl on the left. Today I achieved a massive first goal. When we lived in Ohio, my hubby and I started doing triathlons and duathlons. We’d put our baby in a pack and play with our friends’ kids and we’d take turns watching the babies as we took our turns running and riding. In Japan and California, we also did triathlons. When we moved to Florida though, my health began to decline, and while I did exercise, it wasn’t as consistent, and races were definitely off the table for me. Today, after flying in for family reunions in Utah, I decided to do my first race, a 5k run, since my transplant. And since I was first diagnosed with kidney disease. I was surrounded by all sorts of amazing family as we ran. My sister-in-law ran the first half with me and was such an amazing encourager! Hi Today's run was awesome! I ran up a 1 mile incline steady steady steady without stopping all the way up (third pic gives a peek at the steepness). I usually run to where the sidewalk ends. But not this time! This time I kept running til I hit that mile. (which was actually mile 3) ALMOST to the top. And then after a series of pics, 😂 I flew down. Fun run today. Freakin' Fabulous Friday workout! The Strong and Sweaty part says it all. I am worked, all the way through, and I love it. 💪🏽💦

Today I didn’t want to run, wasn’t feeling great mentally and the calves are really tight, despite using the foam roller and stretching. But it’s the days you don’t want to train that are the days you should train, so I finished work and went out. I thought thanks to the rain today tonight’s run would feel cooler but I didn’t factor in how humid it would be 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️ my hair loves humidity 🤣 Run was slow, with the tight calf muscles and I did stop to chat to a very handsome chap on the first km, the most gorgeous Bernese Mountain Dog. But hey I went out and did it, and mentally it’s helped, it always does. I had the best morning ever at @kaizen_fs in a class full of obstacles, challenges and making mistakes and as always I learned SO much. Then the ultimate and quite literal perspective shift happened in our post class handstand session where my work was to move my gaze from the safety of down to the better aligned yet terrifying and crazy to execute position of straight back. I learn so much each time JB gets me out of my comfort zone, each time I learn to take something scary and make it a teacher. That’s been a constant in my handstand journey.
