💥WHAT VIDEO GAMES HAVE TAUGHT ME ABOUT FITNESS💥 When you start playing any new game, you’ll notice you go from level zero to level three in a few minutes. But then it all changes. A few hours into the game and you haven’t leveled up as quickly as before. Of course, in a game, it’s easy to get past this point. You keep completing quests or killing boars in the woods. Sure, you pour more time into achieving the next level, but you know “the grind” is how you get there. When it comes to #fatloss however, everyone freaks out when the scale (or their waist) doesn’t move for a week. ⠀ “OMG, Harry, it’s stopped working. I’m not losing. I’ve plateaued.” ⠀ Nope. There is no plateau. Like a video game, you’ve leveled up from where you started. But now, the REAL struggle starts. Because getting to the next level is gonna take time. But you don’t need to do anything different to get there. The same things you’ve been doing will keep working. The same applies for #fatloss ⠀ - You still need to be in a #calorie deficit. - You still need to focus on getting sufficient sleep. - You DO NOT need to start doing more cardio at this point (that’s one of the biggest mistakes I see happen all the time). When you reach this point, the only thing you need more of is patience. Often times what breaks my clients through plateaus is getting better at the basic mechanics of the game: - Double checking what they’re recording in MyFitnessPal, - Making sure they’re not skimping on #sleep, - Managing #stress better, - Making sure their environment is conducive to their #goals. And guess what happens when clients do any of the above? Within a week or two, maybe sooner, things start moving again. Things were always moving, though. They never stopped. I love decorating my home but this girl is NOT so handy. Hanging a light fixture is about the extent of it. And even that comes with a few tantrums. I started out on this adventure to peace with my body about 3 weeks before I found out that I was pregnant— talk about timing! 🤣 I still get mad at myself. I relapse. I dive head first into a junk food binge here and there. I talk negatively to my body — which I know it doesn’t deserve. But I also appreciate my body for so many things: my strong legs that carry me, my smile that allows me to express my happiness and gratitude daily, my ability to grow and birth the most beautiful baby girl, and my overall health in this wild life. I know how to fuel my body optimally, but I don’t always get it right. I also know how to help you do the same— and I love to do it. When healthy food breaks the bank while fast food burgers cost less than a cup of soda 😡 . This, my friends, is why for the first time in human history, there are more overweight people walking the earth than underweight. Why might this be? Well for one, our planted landmass in the United States is largely taken up by wheat, corn and soy production. We eat much of these subsidized crops, but also a lot of it is refined into oils and sugar that is then fed to cows (which also get a hefty subsidy.) . 5% of the planted landmass in the United States is dedicated to growing vegetables, which is perhaps one reason why they're relatively so expensive! 90% of Americans do not consume enough of them, according to the CDC, and may explain why the same proportion is deficient in at least one vitamin or mineral. . When you consider the research showing how one large daily salad (something I'm an advocate for and talk about in my book Genius Foods) might actually prevent brain aging, it becomes evident that society seems to want youthful, high performance brains to be a privilege of the upper class. Maybe that’s it’s way of maintaining the status quo. But I think we can change that. What say you? . Under 300 calorie dinner🍠🍣🍚 I eat sweet potatoes nearly every day! Around 100 calories, they are packed with filling fiber an essential micronutrients. Salmon is great for healthy fats🐟 and I swapped cauliflower rice for regular rice to save calories and carbs for dessert 🍦 Spicy Ginger and Sriracha Salmon🌶 4 oz salmon fillet For sauce 1 TBS soy sauce 1 TBS sriracha 1 TBS sambal oelek 1 tsp ginger paste Mix all ingredients and spoon onto salmon saving remainder of sauce for cauliflower rice. Bake at 425 for 12 min Cauliflower rice 127g frozen riced cauliflower(1 1/4 cups) In a microwave safe container mix rice and remaining sauce. Registration is open for my July 1 round of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. So many non-scale victories to celebrate (here are a few):⁣ ⁣ 👊🏻Biggest win...Adapting life to the fasting cycle. I’ve been able to do the 16 hour fasting cycle and it has been possible to adjust it based on my specific schedule. I’ve tried Intermittent Fasting before but have never been so successful. ⁣ ⁣ 👊🏻My biggest win was being able to stay the course while eating out on two different nights.⁣ ⁣ 👊🏻Biggest win was being consistent in my tracking. I honestly didn’t think I’d like an accountability group but this group has made me feel like I can post my struggles and my successes and be honest about my macros for the day. Very rarely has someone been perfect on their macros and it makes me feel like I’m in good company.⁣ ⁣ 👊🏻Since I went on new medication in the fall I’ve been struggling - really struggling - with feeling hungry all the time. I’ve tried fasting in the past and it’s been ineffective. I cannot get over HOW MUCH BETTER I feel after just ONE WEEK! There are days when I get to the end of my 16 hour fast and have to remind myself to eat. If this were the only benefit, and I know it’s not, that would be enough for me. It’s a miracle!

In terms of plant based milk SOY MILK is by far the superior option. It is also a complete protein source (unlike other plant milks) and contains quite good levels of muscle building leucine. Buy one which is unsweetened, high in protein and calcium fortified. The less ingredients and the higher percentage of whole soy beans the better. . Almond, coconut, oat, rice etc are mostly water (most are also low protein and calcium and high in added sugar) so you’re better off making your own or investing in the Whole Foods items and eating more of them. . Yesterday I did sled pushes for my #hiit cardio. Resistance on the sled was all the way up, push to the other end with max effort and 1 min break in between x 10 while @jiujitstu did “ship to shore” to bring it back. Stuffed Beef Rolls 🥩 This makes a total of 2 servings of Stuffed Beef Rolls. Each serving comes out to be 423.5 Calories, 31.79g Fats, 5.63g Net Carbs, and 25.39g Protein. ➡️The Preparation 100 grams thinly sliced flank steak 25 grams prosciutto 50 grams cream cheese 25 grams mozzarella cheese, grated 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese 25 grams Swiss cheese, grated 2 tablespoons butter 100 grams mushrooms ¼ large onion 2 cups baby spinach 1 teaspoon minced garlic Salt and pepper to taste ➡️The Execution Turn oven to bake at 375ºF to preheat. Dice onions and mushrooms into small bite sized pieces. Heat a pan over medium heat to melt half your butter then add your minced garlic. Fry for a couple of minutes then add the onion. Sautee onions until they are translucent then add your diced mushrooms to the pan. Cook down for approximately 20 minutes until well caramelized and browned. Add cream cheese and mix through the vegetables until melted. Add the three cheeses to the pan and allow to melt while mixing into the mixture. Once the cheese has melted, add the spinach and allow this to wilt and combine with the stuffing mix well. Once done, remove from heat and allow to cool briefly. Ensure you have already prepared your beef if you need to. Lay your prosciutto (or bacon) flat on a chopping board overlapping itself slightly and place the beef schnitzel over the top. Evenly spread your stuffing mixture onto the beef so it covers the schnitzel. Leave the edges free to prevent stuffing from spilling over the edges. Roll your stuffed beef up using the bacon or prosciutto. If you need to, secure with toothpicks. Melt remaining butter in a pan over medium heat and place your beef roll in the pan to brown. Keep turning until evenly browned then remove and place into your preheated oven. Good Monday Morning Friends! Today, I chose “JOY” as my essential oil to start my day! Joy is known as an oil that helps connect mind, body, and soul and can pull us out of grief, which most of you know I have experienced a lot of grief this year. My joy this weekend has been spending time with family and friends! Saturday we attended a benefit for a local small business owner in our community battling cancer, my dad and nephew came to down to my house to visit my husband and I, I was able to hanging out with one of my besties at a small local concert in the park. Yesterday, I went to church with my dad and one of my besties joined me as well, then I meet up with my current FASTer Way clients @thefreshpress217 to check in and see how they are doing. He chose to make his food every day on the tailgate of his truck instead of going out to eat with the rest of the guys from his shop. He got a lot of comments about it. People comment nearly every single day about the amount of food he eats and how he eats (he tends to eat a lot of raw bell peppers). It’s different and people don’t understand it. ⠀ Very frequently I get comments, even sometimes from family, about how much and how often I eat. People assume that because I’m a nutrition coach I never want a cookie or a piece of cake. I often hear “that’s too unhealthy for her”. Even more than that are the never ending comments about how big my arms are or how fit I look. Sure, most people mean this in a positive way and it truly doesn’t bother me at all.. But our lifestyles and the way we look tends to be different from the norm, so it’s apparently an automatic in for people to comment on. ⠀ Choose to drink water instead of a beer? Choose to eat an apple instead of a cookie? Choose to go to bed early because you want to workout in the morning? “Oh come on it’s just one time, you don’t always have to be healthy”. What isn’t understood is often judged.⠀ ⠀ If you’re trying to better your health and nutrition because you feel the need to fit in or be “normal”, rethink your reasoning. Trying to be good by picking the healthy option: This is based on a really life conversation I had with a co-worker recently. He explained he was trying to be good by eating a healthy salad instead of picking up a croissant for breakfast like he normally does. In the guys defence he thought he was doing the right thing but when it comes to food looks can be deceiving. And while the lettuce may well contain a handful of essential nutrients it’s pretty clear the salad is a lot more calorie dense then the name might suggest. Always read the nutritional labels👍🏼. Belt.

Woke up this morning 4 lbs up from my normal weight and this may be the least concerned I’ve ever been! 🤘🏼😂 ⠀ Years ago I would have been having a real panic attack about this! “Why is my weight up?!” “How did I gain 4 lbs overnight?!” Etc. Probably how I look in this second picture 😂 ⠀ As I always say, 1 pound = 3,500 calories! 4 lbs = an extra 14,000 calories. 😂 trust me, I didn’t consume an extra 14,000 calories! In fact, I hit my macros to the tee. ⠀ So let’s chat about weight fluctuations! ⠀ Reasons why your weight can fluctuate and you know you’re hitting your macros or eating at a consistent amount of food: ⠀ 🌀you have not been getting enough sleep 🌀not enough water 🌀you are stressed (cortisol can do crazy things to your body) 🌀you have been out of your normal routine or traveling 🌀 your normal meal timing is off 🌀periods! 🌀 SO 👏🏻 MANY 👏🏻 FACTORS ⠀ So before you stress and go into panic mode, go through that check list above!
