Why? To jump higher! 1/4 squat jump w/ barbell. Abram's first try at this exercise. He corrected as he progressed along. Nice job. Holding a weight while starting to jump engaged several different muscles, allowing the smaller muscles to be worked which will aid the larger muscles for an actual jump.
