#inktoberday16 is #angular. Kinda still talking about my #nose here. 👃 lol. I used to think that I’d get work done one day, but I kind of like my #flat nose. Maybe it’s because I’m embracing the indigeneity within my #identity, or maybe I’m too #broke or #lazy to get any work done anyway. Either way, I truly believe flat nose is here to stay. . . . #inktober #inktoberprompts #filipina #cartoon #indigenous #spanish #colonialism #simple #drawing #blackink #ink #filipinaartist #mangastyle #manga #art #artfarting #shadow #filipino #copics

I just came across this information. I didn't know this before, but, it does put things into perspective: The physical body requires certain nutrients to survive, so does the human soul. Painting, just like many of the Arts, is therapeutic. It provides a conduit to emotional release. This is well demonstrated in how painting is being utilized today as a means of therapy and rehabilitation for traumatized individuals like soldiers. ~ www.artistsnetwork.com .

This country is all of me and I’m all of it. The earth is what I belong to. It is my birthright to live. It is my birthright to love. It is my birthright to call this place home. I’m created in this time to mark footprints in the soil. To experience the weight of my being collide with the land. My body resembling rocky contours. Skin simulating desert sands. The heart mirroring red mountains. I sing for the land and we both grow stronger. My Spirit soars with the songlines and stars. I continue grounding down, even further, down into the earth. My words are spoken through the trees that give me life, The bushland breeze I breath in seeps deep into my belly. I’m held by the inner buoyancy of the water in swimming holes, and I remember where I came from. Nature gives me a name, a direction and purpose. . . This country is all of me and I’m all of it. The earth is what I belong to. It is my birthright to live. It is my birthright to love. It is my birthright to call this place home. . Letter to country. ~ Lahni
