Well done, Kari! ⠀⠀ “The look on my face on the left I’ll never forget how I felt ..... the first pics I’d EVER taken of myself in just a bra and shorts 😔 A WAKE UP CALL FOR SURE! I cried for 3 solid hours over them .... NOT KIDDING the pain I felt of staring at them head on was unbearable - how I let myself get that far for so long and how I’d tried over and over and over and over and over to make it to the right ... YOU yes YOU are never past saving ... YOU ARE always worth it and before pics are just as important as After, to always remind yourself how far you came - the card that’s backwards in the photo 🙈🙈 says “Go The Distance” who is tired of starting over?! MY PERSONAL STORY >> I’ve been passionate about cooking and good food since I was 10 years old. A combination of boarding school food and childhood offerings of chitterlings or boiled tripe incentivised me into learning how to cook sooner rather than later! . When I was in my mid-60’s, by most people’s standards I was always reasonably fit and healthy, I looked much younger than my years, I didn't need to visit the doctor and I never caught a cold. However, I was dealing with a gently expanding waistline and ailments many of us quietly learn to accept; aches and pains, ‘crackling’ knees, chronic headaches, indigestion, eczema, constipation, haemorrhoids, varicose veins, night cramps, insomnia and more. Then, just after my 65th birthday I was struck down with suspected shingles. It was the unrelenting pain and suffering of a skin rash that refused to go away that turned out to be a major milestone in my foodie focused lifestyle. . I’d long believed that we are what we eat. I therefore embarked on obsessively getting to the root cause of what I was doing, or not doing, that meant I wasn’t fully alive and kicking the ceiling when I woke up each morning! My painful skin rash retreated within two weeks of making dietary changes and my other symptoms disappeared within months. . Primal Plate was born, founded on a passion to share my knowledge with others and the recipes I sourced and developed that made it an absolute pleasure to eat well, not a chore. Five years after that somewhat life-changing skin rash, at 70 years old (when this photo was taken) I am in my best health and two dress sizes smaller!
