First speed workout of the cycle. 400 m intervals at 6:30 pace with 400 recovery at 10 min pace. It was hard, but manageable. Was not sure how I will do after a speed intervals swim practice last night, with a lot is 25 yard sprints with a lot of kicking with and without fins. --------- Post workout meal included protein to kick start muscle recovery and carbs to replenish depleted glycogen to prep for tomorrow'a long swim practice and easy recovery run. ------------ If you are training by Hanson's and in weeks 5-7 or getting close to it you might feel very tired. I find, from personal experiencing and using Hanson's since 2014, that weeks 5-7 are the hardest. Honeymoon is over, really hits, lots of hard work ahead and fatigue starts to accumulate. Do not give up and keep on working, by week 10 or so it will get easier and you will reach next fitness level and will be surprised how great you feel. You go! You are doing awesome! What a beautiful day for a lunchtime run! 1 mile warm up 4x800 @ 6.55, 7.05, 7.02 and 7.07 (Meant to be at 7.15 so I'll take that 😁) 1.5 mile cool down On paper the harbour seemed perfect for intervals: flat, safe and light. In practice, lunch time crowds, cobble stones, delivery trucks and train lines made it a bit challenging. New max HR of 197. Does that mean I should be dead? Today started out tough. Our heater broke so I woke up to a 55 degree house and I had a raging sinus headache, but I have to keep going and I knew I would regret it if I didn't go. So, I bundled up and headed out. Now, I would normally say that my run got rid of the headache, bujt this time it just dulled it temporarily, unfortunately. I'm tired and sore, but I did get it done. I ran/walked 4.38 in 65 minutes (quite a bit more walking than running this time). It wasn't amazing, bu t it wasn't awful...and I'm glad I did get up and out the door. Tomorrow is a rest day for me, but I might make it an active rest day and take Benjamin up to the gym. He's been asking and we just haven't found the time. We'll see how things go tomorrow morning. Track Friday, it’s a thing right? 🏃🏼‍♀️🔃 . 8 x 400m with 2 min recovery. I was aiming for ten reps but I gave those eight *everything* I had, finishing strong & leaving everything on the track. . Average moving pace 6:15 min/mile 💥 . Pretty damn pleased with this session. Yes, I have done 400’s quicker, but for where I am now with my training I couldn’t have asked for or done any more. I went into rep one aiming for 6:40 pace... smashed that! 👊🏻 . I only started using the track last summer but I’ve surprised myself at how much I’m enjoying these sessions. It’s good to do something different, to vary my runs & they’re proving to be a great benchmark to how my training is progressing. . Alongside a 2 mile warm-up trot & a 2 mile cool-down plod, a solid 6 mile Friday workout 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️ . And the weather... ☀️☀️☀️Gorgeous for a Friday afternoon in January!
