Spent all weekend in bed binge watching French (strictly) films, inevitably ending up with Cocteau for breakfast re-obsessing over mirrors and angels and death etc #jeancocteau#nohappyendings -but so beautiful 🖤👁️‍🗨️

#villefranchesurmer #chapellesaintpierre #jeancocteau #institutdefrancais

#ctuusima #citamusami #nakrmusi #konecnecasnacteni #citat #citát #citáty #quote #dnescitam #knihomol #tipnaknihu #dnesctu #knihomolka #milujemeknihy #viaccasunacitanie #dnesčítam #audioteka #cteme #dobrakniha #audiokniha #audioknihy #textpost #moudrodne #sny #keepdreaming #audiobooks #jeancocteau

A cancellation has left me with plenty of time today, come see me for a tattoo of a rose. Or a beast. Maybe a marriage of the two. "Children believe what we tell them. They have complete faith in us. They believe that a rose plucked from the garden can plunge a family into conflict. They believe that the hands of a human beast will smoke when he slays a victim, and that this will cause him shame when a young maiden takes up residence in his home. They believe a thousand other simple things."- Jean Cocteau #bolderink #bouldercolorado #givemylovetorose #rosetats #jeancocteau #theonerose #lebelleetlabete #classics #alorschermonsieur #youstealmyroses #thepunishmentisdeath #traditionaltattoo #colorado #lovesickteenagers

Filmstruck #18 Orpheus (1950), Dir. Jean Cocteau. Here’s another great director that Filmstruck included in their vast selection. The Greek myth of Orpheus has appeared in several different productions for the big screen, and as this scene shows, Cocteau’s is one of the most impressive. It’s a memorable moment in the film, and in cinema as a whole, as the Princess in black (María Casares) lays claim to a mere mortal poet, before converging through the mirror and into the underworld. Orphée (Jean Marais) is left to question his own sanity and kindle his own desire to hover between life and death. The camera work alone is reason enough to watch Cocteau’s iconic interpretation. #orpheus #orphee #jeancocteau #jeanmarais #mariacasares #francoisperier #mariedea #frenchcinema #1950 #filmstruck #filmscene

CINEMATIC_IMAGERY RECOMMENDS...#16 [ORPHÉE] (1950) 🇫🇷 Directed by Jean Cocteau *** Welcome back to the ongoing series where I’ll be highlighting some of my favourite films, both new and old, known and unknown, with the hope that you’re able to find a new favourite film. - Next up is Jean Cocteau’s 1950 film ‘Orphée’ (aka Orpheus). A poet falls in love with the Princess of Death. The Princess, wanting him all to herself, lead his wife into the underworld, only for the poet to follow after her. - “I am letting you into the secret of all secrets, mirrors are gates through which death comes and goes. Moreover if you see your whole life in a mirror you will see death at work as you see bees behind the glass in a hive.” . . . . . . . . #orphee #orpheus #jeancocteau #frenchcinema #film #movies #instamovies #art #cinephile #photography #cinephilecommunity #instamovies #filmisnotdead #filmcommunity #filmbuff #moviebuff #classicfilm #instaart #movienight #blackandwhitefilm #filmphotography #cinematography #cinematic_imagery #worldcinema #bnw #foreignfilm #surrealism #insta_art #france
