KB, do you love me? 🖤🎼 ——————————————————— Today was my first work out in about a month. I was going through some transitions and I let my priorities slip. I started to feel intimidated and unsure of how to pick up where I left off. I was feeling pretty unhealthy. I had worked so hard and felt like I lost it all. But enough was enough. Today I chose to take action and just get it done. With a little guidance from @rafikithegrey all my previous training and education kicked right in. I kept it short and sweet todayzz. 5 rounds of :30s sprints ‘round the hood, then 3 rounds of 10 Russian KB swings, & 8 single leg KB deadlifts each leg. My kettlebell is 35lbs and made this extra tough after my first round of sprints in forever. I hate running, but i love sprint intervals. ☀️ My goal for today’s work out: conditioning for the Spartan Beast in Tahoe (6400ft elevation 💀) by getting my running in, and also strengthening my posterior chain, (booty, hamstrings, calves, low back.) 💥 the posterior chain is neglected more than we realize since we don’t typically function day-to-day in that plane of motion. • It’s also VERY important for proper form in everything we do, and helps to propel us forward. 230/365: day six of holiday workouts saw a repeat of a workout from last years’ holiday: a deck of cards wod. Each suit represents a movement, the card value represents the reps - turn each card over in turn and that’s the workout! We did ♥️ = squats, ♣️ = water bottle kb swings, ♦️ = v-sit ups and ♠️ = burpees. ☕️"It's easy to get caught in the mindset of expecting see your strength go up every time you go to the gym. - 🦄Because when you first start your strength will go up nearly every workout. - 🦄But the stronger you get...the harder it gets. - ☕️In the same way you can't expect to lose weight every time you step on the scale, you can't expect to gain strength every time you go to the gym. - 🦄In the same way losing scale weight isn't the only way to know you're losing fat (measurements go down, body fat goes down, clothes fit better, you feel better, look better in the mirror, etc)...adding weight to the bar isn't the only way to know you're getting stronger (use better form with the same weight, do more reps with the same weight, feel stronger with the same weight, get less fatigued, use a bigger range of motion, etc). - ☕️All that aside, I want you to remember one very important point. - 🦄You probably got hooked on lifting because you loved it. You loved how it made you feel. You loved how empowering it was. You loved the process of getting stronger. - ☕️But now...if you find yourself getting stressed or worried or concerned or angry or demotivated because you aren't getting as strong as you'd like as quickly as you'd like....take a step back and re-evaluate. - 🦄Breathe.
