Often times accessory work can be approached as mindless exercises between you and the door to “better things,” however your accessory work can be just the thing to take you to the next level. When you lack focus your body will go through the motions, many times not reaping the benefits of the exercise you’re performing. Using the Single Arm KB Row as an example, it’s easy to want to go heavy but then sacrifice results by contorting your body in order to lift the weight. Do yourself a favor, drop the weight down a bit and focus on Lat engagement while keeping your core braced and back flat... think about keeping your chest parallel with the ground as a reminder. • #alphastrength

As you all know by now, we have a strong dislike for slimming clubs. From our experience and talking to our clients, they do more harm than good. Everyone seems to know someone that lost 1 stone or 2... Did you?! Did they keep it off and for how long? This one in particular destroys people's relationship with food. KETTLEBELL SWINGS If you don’t have access to a full gym, or you don’t have time to get in a 30 min workout, don’t stress we got you covered, all you need is a kettlebell! Workout options: A) 100 Kettlebell Swings (as fast as you can with minimal rest), make sure to hold good form B) 5 rounds: 25 Kettlebell Swings C) 4 rounds: 20 Kettlebell Swings & 10 burpees (chest to floor). *Pick a Kettlebell weight that will challenge you. 💫Starting position 1. Stand with your legs a little wider than shoulder width apart, with a kettlebell between your feet. 2. Hinge at the hips and a little at the knees, grasp the kettlebell with both hands, and lift it a little off the floor by extending your hips. At this point, your back and arms should be straight, your torso should be almost horizontal, your knees should be slightly flexed, and the kettlebell should be hanging straight down in front of you. • Execution 1. Inhale as you slowly swing the kettlebell backward and up between your legs. 2. As the kettlebell starts to swing forward, forcefully extend your hips and knees to swing the kettlebell up in front of you. At the top of the movement, squeeze your glutes. 3. As the kettlebell swings back down, hinge at the hips and a little at the knees and guide the kettlebell between your legs. 4. Repeat the forward and backward swings for the prescribed number of times. #kekeandhina #kettlebellworkout

You can do this one anywhere that you have a kettlebell available 🤗 - I recommend investing in a kettlebell, a couple of dumbbells, and some resistance bands to have on hand at home. Even on those days where life is crazy, or you just don’t make it to the gym, you will still have all the equipment you need to get in an effective workout! ManMaker Monday is upon us! This is now one of my go to’s for metabolic conditioning. After working on some strength (DLs, Pull Up and 1-arm push ups) this is where I focus in on the energy demands of the exercise(s) I choose. With ManMakers, I am tapping into the glycolydic pathway and I am using a 1:1 work:rest ratio 4x4. I want to be on the brink of fatigue each set. Trying to improve general work capacity. ManMakers are a great exercise because when done well, they incorporate a clean, a squat, a press, a push up and a row with tons of core and some athleticism to transition between movements. The fact that I utilize Kettlebells only enhances these afore mentioned benefits. MetCons are great but know why you are doing them. Strength, hypertrophy, muscular endurance, fat loss or aerobic work capacity for example. These goals are all programmed quite differently. Stay strong my friends.
