Bench felt sloppy. Maybe it was the cold weather. Maybe it was because I had to pee. Also slight miscommunication on liftoff made my top single slightly more difficult, but it still moved alright. Bench: 251lb 1x1 @ RPE: 7ish 232lb 1x5 @ RPE: 8 (no vid) 227lb 2x5 @ RPE: 8 I dropped the weight after the first volume set because I knew there was no way I could get two more sets at the same RPE. 〰️Glutes〰️ 🐫 day I’ve been bulking for about 2 months now and have successfully been able to put on about 6 lbs. My ultimate goal is 10lbs, and once that happens it’ll be time to lean out. Eating a calorie surplus is no joke. I’m eating ALL day. I feel like it’s never ending, and sometimes life happens and it’s 10 at night and I have 1000 calories left that I have to figure out😣 Its a slow process between the calorie surplus, lifting heavy, cutting back on cardio and actively taking 2 days off a week from exercise seems to be working for me. For years I’ve struggled trying to gain any kind of weight, and it’s all still experimental with what works best for me and my body. Not everyone is the same, so when you get frustrated with hitting your goals just remember it’s all a slow process, you WILL see results if you keep up with it. After a disturbing day here was the highlight of my weekend. Saturday's meet. USA Powerlifting South Bay Classic! I got 6/6 lifts and took 1st Place on Bench press and 2nd Overall in my weight class. Because of my shoulder I went really conservative on Bench. Next meet I'm going for 200lbs on Bench and 315lbs on Squats. I'm so happy for all the progress I've made on my lifts this year. When I look at these videos I can see that I still have work to do and will keep practicing. I have bad vision. Legitimately, my eyesight is getting worse (I can’t get glasses so for the foreseeable future I’ll just enjoy the world through an odd, wobbly lens.) But also I have a strange problem seeing any changes in my body. I look just the same, to my eyes. It’s some strange myopia, no, hyperopia, I have to squint to see myself clearly and even then, I can’t. I took this picture in between sets the other day. Sifting through my album just now, this one stood out. Not because I see a huge change in my body, but because I remember the weight I put on the bar. I remember what it feels like to recruit muscles and have them respond, sure and capable. I look at this and I feel savage, strong. I don’t need to see weightloss to push forward. I’m not busting my ass to diminish myself, so the only numbers I really care about are the ones on the plates I load on the bar. It's super hot today ☀️ "Thanks captain obvious." With the heat, comes a number of reasons not to exercise. "It's too hot," "I'm too tired." These are all genuine barriers for some people to not head to the gym today. Though, there's never really perfect any times to train. You're always going to be a little sore and tired. Something's always going to come up and get in the way. I can think of plenty reasons right now why I shouldn't do my workout. I have a number of programs to write, clients to follow up, reading, shopping and cleaning to do and my right shoulder has been hurting for a few days now. However, I value my health and fitness highly. Thus, I make time regardless of how I'm feeling. Though, each session can change (get easier or harder) based on how I'm feeling. Just get in the gym and do something. Get blood flowing and muscles contracting. This causes changes to occur in our body that are really good for our physical and mental health. It’s 3 weeks into the new year and here are my top tips to stay motivated: ▪️ Never miss a Monday - Mondays always set the tone for the whole week! ▪️ Focus on getting enough sleep. I CAN’T stress this enough. Less sleep = elevated cortisol, which will most likely cause you to crave sugary foods and overeat. ▪️ Make it a habit to go to the gym by being consistent. First time working with the slingshot tonight. 2 singles at 405. First one got out in front of me so I had to hit another one. Then did a 3x3 with 335. The slingshot is a great tool for a heavy deload. Tried out some band pushups as well which are a fantastic stability movement. It was nice to take some stress off my shoulders tonight. 23/66 Day 23 of #gymshark66 I DID NOT want to go to the gym today. It legit took me 3 hours to finally go. Fitness isn’t just a quick fix or fad diet it’s a lifestyle.
