Before I make my point, I need to say that there are many great places that have quality macro friendly shakes, and their only downside is cost. If that’s not an issue awesome! On the other hand It is nice to treat yourself once in a while, and I’m all for balance, BUT I know for a fact these shakes are a part of some people’s every day routine . Your average shake that is store bought is usually filled with unknown syrups, loaded with calories, sugar, and really all around low quality. There job is NOT to make you fit! They want you to be satisfied and enjoy that sweet goodness so you’ll come back craving for more! Their profit margins are stupid high because they sacrifice quality for buying low quality ingredients in bulk and prioritize making a profit over anything else . I have made & met several goals on my keto journey and 145 lbs is one that was on the list. I know this is a weird picture, but it puts into perspective how much my body has changed this year. Last winter I couldn’t wear these boots. They’re an “extended calf” boot I bought a few years ago during one of my thinner moments. I almost gave them away because they didn’t fit, but decided to hold onto them just in case. Turns out, they don’t just fit now, they’re too big! I am able to fit my whole arm in there with room to spare. There are a lot of coaches, trainers, PT’s that will tell you it’s not possible to lose fat and build muscle at the same time. The science however, says otherwise. 🤔 . . Now, just to clarify, when I say ‘at the same time’ I’m talking about a respective period, I.e. a day, a week etc, not in the exact same moment of time. ⏱ . . So how do you do it? Well, adequate training stimulus (i.e. lift some weights and lift them with some fuckin purpose), combined with an adequate protein intake (1.4-2g per KG bodyweight). . . Bear in mind for the context of this post, we are essentially talking about being in a diet (calorie deficit). 👌 . . Now, it’s going to be a lot easier to lose fat and build muscle in the following circumstances: . > You are new to resistance training. 🏋️‍♀️ . > You are coming back to training after a long lay off. 🛌 . > You are at the start of a diet with higher body fat levels to lose. 👍 . > You are taking ‘super supplements’ 🙈💉 . . So I'm kinda experimenting. Growing up whenever my mom made pork chops we would always have a side of applesauce & I love that savory & sweet combo together. Since being on a low carb diet, applesauce is out of the question. So I decided to try to make a sweet choyate sauce & y'all omg. I could just eat the sauce by itself lol. I finally got my butt to a @weightwatchers meeting this morning after not going for over 2 weeks. I have changed my weigh in day for Saturday now that I am back to working. I have completed 2 weeks back to full time working and 2 weeks of the exercise challenge I am doing. Its been a crazy, busy and new couple of weeks of adjustment and establishing new routines, but I am honestly super proud of how I've handled it and excited to take on next week with some new improvements in mind! 😊❤

It’s one of my favorite meals of the day! • It’s been said that breakfast 🍳 is the most important meal of the day. That has since been debunked, but it doesn’t mean we can’t still love 💕 on it! #repost Top low calorie foods ➖ Today I want to touch upon the myth that is “Negative calorie foods”. The whole concept driving this claim is that you burn more kcals from digesting a certain food than the actual kcal within the food itself. This is also referred to as diet induced thermogensisis (DIT) which is defined as the increase in energy expenditure above basal fasting level divided by the energy content of the food ingested & commonly expressed as a percentage (Westerterp 2004). ➖ Reported DIT values for separate macros are 0-3% for fat, 5-10% for carbs, 20-30% for protein (Acheson 1993) thus if we take the average % for each macronutrient (1.5% for fat, 7.5% carbs & 25% protein) we can clearly work out that there are in fact no “negative calorie foods”. ➖ Example, celery, the most commonly claimed “negative calorie” food. 100g celery = ~17kcal, 3g carbs (12kcal), 0.7g protein (2.8kcal) & 0.2g fat (1.8kcal). Therefore, given DIT for the specific macros above, eat 17kcal of celery & you end up with a NET 13.763kcal. Equation used = 12(0.25) + 2.8(0.075) + 1.8(0.015) = 3.237kcal burned from DIT of that 17kcal. ➖ Not exactly negative is it? While I know I’m being extremely picky & that, in the grand scheme of things, 13kcal from celery should NOT be stressed out on, weighed or tracked, it’s the concept I want to get through to you. 13kcal is not negative 13kcal. Eat 3000 “NET” kcal of celery with a maintenance of 2500kcal & you will still gain weight (Hill et al 2012). Furthermore, take celery again as the example. What do people, especially a typical “mindless dieter”, do when they hear the claim that celery is “negative calories”? Start snacking on celery on its own or start snacking on it with peanut butter & Nutella which contain hundreds of kcals? The latter most likely. Another example “spinach is negative kcals so let’s add it to my pizza” you get the point.
