It’s been 6 months since I came off the pill. For me, when I was on the pill my weight was stable I could eat what I wanted and just be! I was so nervous to come off the pill as I had worked so hard to get my body and mind to a good place I was nervous about gaining weight rapidly. The thing is, nothing much really changed. I think I gained a few kegs, and my weight fluctuates around ‘that time’ BUT there has been no significant change to my body shape. I became a little more obsessed with my body during this time as I was monitoring my weight and physical changes (pimples, bloating etc) like a HAWK! Then all this did was get me stressed out!!!!! I’ve had to remind myself numerous times, “it’s okay, no matter what happens to you, as long as you are healthy and feel good, the way your body looks shouldn’t matter, Health always comes first”.... I had a few months of slipping into obsessive habits, but I’m so glad my positive mind frame had managed to conquer those bad thoughts and continue me on my self love path 🥰🥰🥰

Even walking down the stairs was horrific. I beat myself up for about 3 mins then decided to listen to my body and be kind to it instead of beating myself up. Instead of running I did a 5km walk and it has helped loosen my muscles and hopefully tomorrow I can do that run! Moral of this waffle - listen to your body and know your limits! Serious Monday night thoughts are going down tonight. Full of flu not feeling my best and anxieties are everywhere. • • But have we even considered that it’s our thoughts inside our head that constantly weigh us down and now our body image✨ we think that when we have lost the weight , when we fit into certain jeans , when the scale is on that number that we will be happy? Well that’s complete and utter BS!! Been there done that and REALITY CHECK it will not make you happy. Once you get to a certain goal you want to do it more and more until your body and your mind gets tired. • • So if this is like you then seriously LET GO, let go of this version of perfection you’re giving yourself to adhere to every single day because guess what? It’s just not attainable and it’s not healthy for your body or your mind for that matter. • • STOP beating yourself up on a daily basis because you haven’t stuck to your diet or you haven’t got to the number on the scales you want. You are worth so much more!💕💕

Why do we complicate things so? The body is fluid and needs to move. You are one wholistic being; if one thing doesn't move, nothing moves, including the mind, your energy and your spirit. The movement can be as subtle or as gross as you need it to be. Find where you're stuck and MOVE! Balance it out with some stillness when you're done, because that's how you teach your body to let you know when it needs you, as well how to reset. - This is more or less the foundation of my evening routine. At high speed of course; I like to move slow this time of night. Releasing all the knots I can feel in my body, but not looking for the deepest stretch or the most perfect position. Simply moving to release the day. Followed by purposeful breathing - in this case Nadi Shoda (alternate nostril breath) - and then neck movements because I felt it was needed tonight, before moving into relaxation - in this case Supta Badha Konasana (reclined goddess) - with some breath awareness, ending it all off with a long body stretch. 20 minutes only, but the effect is instant and amazing: feeling prepared for a good night's rest as well as stress free! Body, mind, and soul all in alignment. That's what makes a happy human. - Could the routine have been simpler? Perhaps. But it was simple for me. Yours should be different. But it should be happening. Week 6/6. I have 6 more days to go. That's crazy! But ya know what? I love starting a program and seeing it all the way through because I get to prove to myself with each completed program that no matter what... that I can keep a promise to myself, that I can do hard things, and that I am capable of accomplishing my goals. . . 'You guys I've said it before- sustainable weight-loss is a lifestyle, it's not a short-term goal. There will be times where the number on the scale might not move and that doesn't mean that it's not working. It doesn't mean that you're not working. It doesn't mean you have to switch nutrition plans.  It just means your body is doing what it's supposed to do. . . Some days it's going to be weight loss! . Some days it's going to be inches lost! . Some days it's going to be muscle gain! . Some days you're going to be tired and maybe you're not going to work as hard, you're still going to get it done though! Its all just part of the process.  If you can just embrace that process and just know there are ups and downs, good days and bad days, weight loss days and non weight loss days.. and keep going and know that no matter what- everytime you push play, every time you finish your workout, you're doing something that's good for your body! At the end of the day, that's the most important thing! . Your strengthening your heart. Your strengthening your lungs. Your fueling your body to get through life and these workouts, and to do it in a healthy happy way!  Focus on that. . Continuing from my last post... . I wanted to dive deeper into my relationship with the gym and why it’s one of the two sanctuaries present in my life today. . To begin with as a young teenager I grew up very timid and unsure about who I was. This stemmed from insecurities surrounding my skin colour and general appearance. . My solution was the gym! However, I went about it in the wrong way. My motivation was purely driven by aesthetics and approval from my peers. This led to me comparing myself to others and inherently emphasising any existing insecurities.. . The true power of training is rooted in your PERCEPTION of it. If you are doing it to please others. YOU’LL NEVER WIN. . The day you decide to be better for you, that is the day you’ll never stop and you’ll continue to persist no matter what. . I am who I am today because I realised the importance of training the mind not just the body. . Your mind can be what builds you up or breaks you down. . It’s a constant battle but it’s a crucial one. . Mental health and physical health are just as important as each other. . So thanks to the gym I can now say ‘I’M A PROUD SOUTH INDIAN MAN.....I LOVE WHO I AM, WHAT I AM and THE WAY I AM’ . For those who struggle with themselves I hope one day you can say the same... . There comes a point where you have to stop looking for answers from the outside. Searching for ways to fix yourself by listening to everyone else’s opinion. Researching and learning are so valuable, I do it all the time, but there is also a time where you have to sift through the information and begin to pull out the nuggets that will serve you most. Are you one who is constantly tweaking your diet because you heard you should eat this or do that? What are you actually looking for? And is it working? Are you giving yourself enough time to actually see if what you are doing is supporting your or not? We often don’t give our body enough time to give us feedback or are we even listening? I am from the school of thought of tuning into your body when it comes to eating, aka Mind Body Eating or Intuitive Eating. We all have a diet that will work perfectly for our body, but we often never tap into it. We are too busy searching for the best way to eat outside of ourselves. Yes, learn what you can and try new things, but always listen to your body. Is your way of eating making you hungry? Do you feel satisfied? Is your gut happy? Do you have a lot of energy? These are the questions you should ask yourself because if you are hungry, not satisfied, drained of energy or bloated, you should try something different. Or better yet. Listen to your body Slow down Honor your hunger Eat what you really want Breathe Our body wants more time to process and assimilate our food (or life). By slowing your eating down you are able to get in your body and this is where you can learn what works for you or not. My family and I arrived in Hawaii yesterday after a 5-hour-long flight, and my brother, the French intern staying with us, and I were so delighted by the warm weather that we decided to immediately change into swimsuits and go swimming. Overwhelmed by excited, I didn’t think wearing my new swimsuit was going to be a big deal, especially because the last time I’d tried it on, I was actually very happy with it and with myself. But when I looked at myself in the mirror, wearing that swimsuit next to my brother in his trunks who (as some of you know) is a ballet dancer and is, therefore, very skinny and muscular, I couldn’t help but feel my insecurities overcome me. My legs had more fat and cellulite than I wanted them too, my body did not look the way I thought it did the last time I’d put on this swimsuit (even now, I can’t get myself to post a picture of me wearing it.) Maybe the disgust and disappointment I felt towards my body yesterday was triggered by the fact that I was tired, or that I had already had a pretty bad day leading up to that moment, or that I hadn’t worn a swimsuit in about 2-3 years, but either way, it made it difficult for me to go out and go swimming. But then the only good moment of all of yesterday happened: I said “fuck it,” put on a pair of jeans over my bathing suit, and went outside. And then I went swimming in the swimming pool surrounded by people in that bathing suit. And as soon as I got in the water, I didn’t care. After a while, we realized that the swimming pool was not deep enough to really go swimming, so the three of us went out to the beach and swam in the ocean as the sun set before our eyes. It was liberating. And while the rest of my evening sucked too (my mom made comments, I was depressed, and I had to force myself to eat even though I was tempted to restrict), I think I should celebrate my little win. Because yes, yesterday was incredibly hard, and I think this entire vacation is going to be full of struggles, but I’m going to try my best to hang on to the good moments.
