While calories are definitely not the only thing that matter, here’s something to look at if you feel stuck or have hit a weight loss plateau despite feeling like you’re doing all the right things. Making the switch to a nutrition plan that’s mostly processed junk food to a nutrition plan that’s mostly whole nutritious foods will alone help you lose weight. That could be 80/20 for some people 90/10 for others - whatever that balance looks like for you find it! . However, if you have already made the switch and still struggling to reach a healthier weight, here’s an example of how cooking oils, salad dressing, high fat snacks and toppings can add up to a 595 calorie difference, thus taking you out of your moderate calorie deficit. . Now you don’t even have to track, per se, to become more aware of this, although tracking is always helpful (which you can do for a short period of time then stop once you get the gist of portion sizes). Being aware that even healthy fats are high in calories and to watch your portion on them is helpful in the long run. Here are some tips that have helped me: . When eating nuts - grab a small handful and then put the jar away so you’re not mindlessly eating them. (Same goes for nut butter) On cooking oils - remember a little bit goes a long way! I also love Trader Joe’s non-toxic olive oil spray or you can make your own oil spray bottle at home. On salad dressings - olive oil or avocado oil based dressings are a great way of adding healthy fats to a salad but remember you don’t need to overdo it. Ask for dressing on the side at restaurants so you can control it. . Overall, it’s not that one extra items alone is a big deal but the addition of all the extra toppings together can add up to a lot of calories so maybe pick the areas you want to keep and like me, skip the sour cream on the potato just from some easy sea salt (just an example). . Ingredients . 1 lbs of ground beef . 1 pound ground pork . 2 eggs 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese . 1/4 cup diced or grated onion . 3-4 tablespoons of Caribeque Big and Bold Beef . Caribeque Buffalo Bbq Sauce Directions . Set up your grill/smoker to 325 degrees indirect . In a large bowl, combine your eggs, onions, shredded cheese, and Caribeque Big and Bold Beef into your ground beef and mix well. . Shape into 1 big loaf or two small two loaves. . Sunday is the perfect day to meal prep and be productive💥🍳Made a batch of these egg muffin bites to help me kick off a busy week ahead! They provide high quality protein and are so easy to load up with veggies. Keep them in the fridge for 4-5 days or even freeze them. Pop them into the oven or microwave when you are ready to grab and go😋⁣ ⁣ INGREDIENTS ⁣ • 4 eggs⁣ • 1 tbsp olive oil⁣ • 1 cup mushrooms (measured before chopping) ⁣ • 4 tbsp chopped cherry tomatoes⁣ • 1 tbsp goat cheese⁣ • 2 handfuls of spinach (measured before chopping) • sea salt & pepper⁣ ⁣ METHOD⁣ 1| Preheat oven to 180 °C⁣ 2| Sauté all chopped veggies in a pan with 1 tbsp of olive oil on medium heat for 5 minutes, add the goat cheese and season with sea salt & pepper.⁣ 4| In a separate bowl whisk the eggs and pour them into the veggie mixture.⁣ 3| Spoon out evenly into a non-stick muffin tray.⁣ 5| Bake for 15-20 minutes.⁣ ⁣___________________________________________ #eggmuffins #breakfast #eggbites #healthyeating #mygthealth

•|| TURKEY MEAT SAUCE WITH ZOODLES ||• I’m all about a big bowl of 🍝 every now and then, but sometimes a girl just wants a pasta inspired dish without the heaviness/ carbs that come with it! Enter zucchini noodles! Typically I’m too lazy to sit and spiralize 3-4 zucchini’s so I will splurge and buy the pre-made “noodles” at the store, but you’re welcome to be an overachiever if you really want to and make them completely from scratch! This dish is surprisingly filling and doesn’t compromise on taste, the way some veggie dishes do! One pot of these zoodles will typically result in 3 meals for the week, making it the perfect meal prep idea for a Sunday afternoon 👩🏻‍🍳 (yes it’s already Sunday somehow?) Recipe: 1 container of pre-made zucchini noodles (or ~4 zucchinis, spiralized) 1/2 large jar of preferred tomato sauce (I like to choose a low sodium option) 1 lb lean ground turkey 2 cups baby spinach 5 cremini mushrooms, sliced 7 cherry tomatoes, halved 2 cloves of garlic, minced 1/2 white onion, diced 1 tbsp dried basil (fresh is preferred if you’re fancy af but dry is usually what I have hanging around) Salt and pepper to taste 1 tbsp olive oil Directions: 1) In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion; sauté for 3-4minute stirring frequently until onions become translucent 2) Add ground turkey and cook until almost completely browned; drain juices from pan 3) Add spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes; cover and cook for 3 minutes 4) Add zucchini noodles, basil and tomato sauce; stir with a wooden spoon until well combined. Sunday is my food prep day. Me and Matthew both work 12 hour days. He works outside so he can’t even warm food, it always stews and soup as there the best to stay warm in a thermos. Moroccan lamb stew in the slow cooker, lasagna for me and pea and ham soup. I always batch cook like this so we have a stock of work dinners in the freezer so we can have something different every day. WEIGH IN RESULTS! A day late posting but anyway... First time in 8 months I’ve ever maintained! The reality is I over indulged massively last weekend with 2 bigggg takeaways in 24 hours - I’ve had to work my arse off to counter act the calorie surplus I put myself in - I’ve realised one takeaway might have been worth it but I’ve pushed myself really hard this week & to maintain + minimal measurement changes the two takeaways just weren’t worth it! After a 1.5lb gain this week I am making sure I am 100% on plan and prepping ahead! When healthy food breaks the bank while fast food burgers cost less than a cup of soda 😡 . This, my friends, is why for the first time in human history, there are more overweight people walking the earth than underweight. Why might this be? Well for one, our planted landmass in the United States is largely taken up by wheat, corn and soy production. We eat much of these subsidized crops, but also a lot of it is refined into oils and sugar that is then fed to cows (which also get a hefty subsidy.) . 5% of the planted landmass in the United States is dedicated to growing vegetables, which is perhaps one reason why they're relatively so expensive! 90% of Americans do not consume enough of them, according to the CDC, and may explain why the same proportion is deficient in at least one vitamin or mineral. . When you consider the research showing how one large daily salad (something I'm an advocate for and talk about in my book Genius Foods) might actually prevent brain aging, it becomes evident that society seems to want youthful, high performance brains to be a privilege of the upper class. Maybe that’s it’s way of maintaining the status quo. But I think we can change that. What say you? . I like to be a DIY-er. I went to Trader Joe’s after work and in the frozen section they had this package that consisted of edamame, riced cauliflower, red pepper, corn, scallions, and sesame oil. I did not want the sesame oil and I wanted fresh scallions so I decided to make mine from scratch. I also added some like juice and a tiny little bit of steak.
