Let's be real. I'd love to say this journey is easy, that I'm coping just fine but it is not. It's not easy, but it is worth it. I've done 7 weeks of bodybuilding and it has taught me so much. The workouts are easy, but the real challenge is in the mind. Deciding not to eat cake when you have things to celebrate or not hating yourself for binging and setting back your progress - this is where the challenge lies. But it's okay. It's okay to struggle. It's okay to find it difficult, but it's not okay to give up. Get up, dust yourself off, forgive yourself and get your head back in the game. Strength training doesn't only make you physically strong, but it teaches you how to be mentally resilient. Stick to it. Fight. Awww memories. I actually can’t stand the memories section in apps these days. Just went onto snapchat and these came up. This was the day I got my face biopsy. I was a mess. Not only my face. But a general mess. It’s hard enough for people to understand agoraphobia or panic disorder as it is,so trying to explain to people that going to hospital,doctors appointments or any other activity that means you’ve to go outside is literally near impossible. I had to be chaperoned (babysat) which feels degrading. The amount of medication it used to take to get me out the door was ridiculous. I could barely talk,no way could I hold a conversation. Never looked anyone in the eyes. I could almost guarantee there would be a panic attack,usually kicking and screaming,which would end in me passing out. Please never give up. I believed I was a lost cause. At a few points I thought suicide was my only option for me. I was wrong! For me, integrated therapy and finding the right medication and diagnosis started me in my recovery. I never believed it would. It’s a very slow journey but it’s worth taking!!! Look up integrated therapy. It’s basically a therapist who does different therapies around you and your condition. Treating you like an individual and what’s best for your recovery. They don’t treat you like it’s just depression or anxiety, which I feel a lot of therapists/doctors do these days. Never give up on yourself. I wouldn’t have met some of the truly amazing humans I’ve met recently if I’d gave up. You are worth it. Believe me when I say that if I can do it,you can!!! Don’t ever feel like you are alone in this. It’s often believed and understood that if someone is suffering mentally or emotionally that they will ‘be in a particular’ way. This is not always the case. Mental and emotional suffering can be personal and very private to each person and experienced in their own way. Understanding how someone else may be struggling or experiencing mental or emotional discomfort within may help you help them. ✨ When a person is anxious, depressed, stressed, experiencing trauma or even lacking clarity for their life, having difficulties with their health, career or relationships, there will be a number of factors happening ‘within’ the person that is causing them internal, personal turmoil. This experience, which is different for each person can be mental, emotional and or physical, and you may have no idea at all for what is going on behind the ‘surface’ for what you see. ✨ For the persons personal ordeal their mind may often be busy, chaotic, difficult to escape from, noisy, heavy, overpowering and uncontrollable. This experience will be made up of thoughts that continue to present themselves as still images that the person sees inside their head, in relation to their experience or it may be small mental movies and scenes that they watch over and over again. It could be both, or for some people they will have no thoughts or movies in their head but instead constant internal chatter. Their experience will be made up of conversations, self - talk, or ‘inner sounds’ of other people from their life talking through their head. - for some people, they will have elements of all of these characteristics which forms their experience within. Just imagine your tv being on really loud, really clear and vivid 24 hours a day playing out difficult past memories or future worries over and over, think how that would affect you. ✨ In knowing more of how someone’s mind may be operating and working, you can come to understand how someone else may feel very uncomfortable within themselves. Learning how to deal with a difficult and overactive mind is something we should all engage with on a daily basis, for pain and suffering doesn’t have to be difficult or lonely. Look after your mind.

I want to talk about eating for #mentalhealth. I’ve been really concentrating on this for the last several months, and while it’s a nonlinear process, I have had a lot of success. Here’s what I’ve discovered.... • • Dairy and wheat 🌾 don’t help my digestion and that effects my #mood. The type O blood diet has been pretty beneficial for me as well (as recommended by my #acupuncturist.) But here was the kicker... alcohol. I read a post by @holly about how drinking #alcohol is like pouring gasoline on your anxiety... let that sink in. • • I want to be clear. I am not an alcoholic. I’m not “getting sober.” I don’t even feel like I need to label my status surrounding #booze.
