Last week was arguably the worst week I’ve had in the gym over my 3.5 years of CrossFit. I’ve been dealing with multiple injuries for the past 6 months, literally in every joint from my wrist to my ankles, and last week was so bad I spent most days trying not to cry while in the gym. After taking some time to actually let myself cry, cause let’s be honest, we all need it sometimes, to REST over the weekend, and to start this week off with a more positive mindset, I’ve realized a few things: 1 - injury does NOT mean the end of the world (even though it feels like it). CrossFit was designed to be modifiable. 2 - injury should be looked at as an opportunity to focus on the small things. We get caught up in lifting ALL THE HEAVY THINGS ALL THE TIME, that sometimes we forget the importance of those not so sexy exercises to keep ourselves healthy and to keep everything functioning correctly. 3 - injuries are an opportunity to grow as an athlete. It takes a lot of mental fortitude (in my humble opinion) to take a step, or two or three or four, back from where you currently are so that you can recover. So that you can heal. So that you can come out a stronger athlete on the other side. Don’t be afraid to take a few steps back so you can take a giant leap forward. And lastly - sometimes, making progress means taking rest days. However many you need. If your body is telling you NO, fucking listen to it. And go find yourself the right experts to take care of it. Nobody ever accomplished anything amazing with a broken body. My ✌🏼 cents on a very tough subject that I’ve finally come to terms with. #roadtorecovery #babysteps #yougotthis

If we all really took the time to look at what this picture represents we would all agree that at some point in our lives we’ve allowed ourselves to be the brain and not the heart. This tough talk Tuesday we want to talk about the inner struggle in the mind- - the place of made up stories and unrealistic outcomes for our day to day lives! There have been numerous times when instead of confronting a situation we’ve tried to play out all the different ways a situation MIGHT conclude instead of just going at it head on. It’s not always easy to approach the things, people, or events that scare you, but instead of asking what could go wrong maybe from here on out try asking yourself- - what could go right!! Stress is substantial imbalance between what we believe is demanding of us (competitive demand) and what we perceive our capabilities to be for meeting those demands (personal control), for situations in which success is important. So, perceptions — not competitive demands themselves — determine the amount and nature of stress we experience. The premise of self talk is that beliefs determine the impact of a competitive situation more than the situation itself does; our thoughts are more responsible for our actions than are the situations we practice and compete in. When you judge your surroundings as positive, it actually enhances your performance, but judging it from a negative point of view, you end up seeing the situation as a threat, which will hurt your performance. A teammate may see a crowd of parents, friends, and strangers as “a great opportunity to show this crowd what they can do,” while another may worry about “how embarrassed they’ll be if they mess up in front of them.” Different reactions and thoughts can lead to either flow or choking.

Three Tuesday Tips: 1. Get up and get it done before you talk yourself out of it. 2. Move your body (even if you’re sore, even if you’re tired), it feels good! 3. You never regret pushing play. The reality of life is our perception of it. 🤙 You ever meet someone who is always worried? Whether they miss a meeting, forget their keys, or anything they are just worried. And then the same thing could happen, and people get ANGRY.😡. They miss a meeting and they’re mad at the traffic. Forget something and are mad that they have to go back to get it. And then you meet someone who seems to have it all figured out. NOTHING is ever a big deal. They miss a meeting, “it’s easy to reschedule” or they forget something and they say “I probably didn’t really need it anyways.” Or it’s no big deal. 😊🤙 Same environment, same problems, different reactions. 🤔🤔 🧐 I used to always get stressed. Everything was stressful. Job, fun, planning, traveling, everything. And I realized how bad it was to hold that much stress. Now I may be working 12-14 hour days but I like to stop and remember that I asked for this life. That I’m building the life I wanted. And when I do that, I get excited, passionate, and happy. Stress still comes out every now and then, but overall, I enjoy life😎 Because at the end of the day, good days or bad days, come down to our PERCEPTION of life. 💯 ▪️ Now I shift my perception of life and remember that it all works out in the end. I’ve been through tough days, and tough years, but in the end it’s all gonna be ok. The best has yet to come. And If I’m gonna work my ass off, I might as well enjoy it🤘😎🚀

Completely balanced and in control. I’ve recently cut every bad habit out of my life. The last thing to go was hitting the snooze button. There’s also no more nail biting, I’ve been practicing no fap, I’m more conscious about my posture and procrastinating is at an all time low. Personally for me to say that I’ve cutoff a habit, I stop thinking about it or doing it on a daily basis and finally, having a month long streak with no relapse• I used to believe that they're some things you simply can’t change and that you just have to accept that those things are a part of who you are. At one point I even considered going to a hypnotist because I felt that I couldn’t possibly make a difference on my own but now the things that I felt I had no control over are completely under my control• When I come to a problem or want to reach a goal in my life, I ask myself if I’m doing everything I possibly can to solve that problem or achieve that goal. Things like, am I doing any research or reading about the subject, am I reaching out to a professional for help, am I putting time aside to focus on it, am I meditating and visualizing the outcome? I truly trust this process. In the end, I always seem to figure it out and find that there’s no reason to stress so much• For me one thing that really helps me focus on my goals is to physically write them down. There’s something more meaningful about it when I write it down with pen and paper. Whether it’s a to-do list or my goals for the year I’m constantly reviewing what needs to get done and embedding it into my subconscious• It’s taken me a couple of years to eliminate it all. Certain things were easier to stop than others but through a bit of focus, discipline and determination I was able to overcome everything I hated about myself. Little by little I moved towards the best possible version of myself and I can proudly admit that that’s who I feel I am today. At 31 I’m in the best mental and physical shape of my life. You can get there too, you just have to put the time and effort in. Get on my vibe. Discipline equals freedom. Make your health your number one priority in life and live fully•
