We were about 70 people alltogether, working in groups that had been determined by drawing 'straws' to see who we would be cooking wirh. stuck in a meal rut...or just plain happy about it? yesterday I tried a completely new to me food, and was super skeptical about it. but I also piled my plate with my leafy green go-to, kale. it reminded me that we need lots of ingredient diversity for optimal nutrition and health, being adventurous and trying new foods is good (for more than just the nutrient benefits!), AND that it’s never a bad idea to give your body exactly what it wants, like all the routine greens! but I’m also curious, what new or usual foods have you been enjoying lately?

Could not be more proud of my brother, sister-in-law @food_field_culture and the @agorafoodstudio team for what they’ve achieved this year in Timor Leste #repost @agorafoodstudio with @get_repost ・・・ Our end of year figures are in, thanks to our reclusive internet ninja's super sustainability platform. http://ec2-54-202-239-21.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com:3030/tlfoodlab Firstly, thanks to you, and despite the current economic situation in Timor-Leste, we hit our target of 10,000 nourishing meals based on Timorese ingredients. By eating mostly local, mostly plant based meals, you have helped small-scale farmers and producers of #timorleste, injecting $32K back into the local agricultural economy. We've collected 5 tonnes of compost. This has gone straight back into the food chain via Luchya Fernandes' pigs who fertilize our rocket and malabar spinach patch right here in Dili. What's really interesting is discovering how many plastic bottles we avoided - more than 6500 - simply by having a high quality UV-filtered water system. Similarly, thanks to Empreza Diak bamboo straws, we avoided more than 3500 plastic straws. We've never used palm oil at AFS of course, given how destructive it is to the health of both people and the planet. Instead we're supporting Timorese coconut oil producers to the tune of 1 litre a day, through the Hafoti women's co-operative. Ideally we would like to reach more people next year through our Taste of Timor food workshops (we had just under 500 attendees in 2018). Slow Food Yaveş Gari Bodrum Birliği olarak 22-24 Aralık Mandalina Şenliğinde 5 atölye, 1 yemek yarışması ve bir kahvaltı ile görev alıyoruz. Coğrafi işaret tescilli Bodrum Mandalinası’nın sürdürülebilirliği için gençlere ve yetişkinlere gönüllü uzmanlarca eğitim verilecek. Düzenlenecek atölyelerde Turunçgil Üretici Birliği’nin ürettiği doğal mandalina esansı kullanılacak. Atölye gelirleri ise Yahşi’deki Özel Eğitim Okuluna bağış olarak değerlendirilecek. Bitez’de mandalina bahçelerinde yapılacak atölyelere ve kahvaltıya katılanlar nostaljik Bodrum yaşamına da konuk olacaklar. Bodrum mandalinasının sürdürülebilirliği ancak ona katma değer kazandıran yeni ürünler geliştirmekle mümkündür; Bodrum mandalinası esansı kullanan sabunlar, mumlar, kozmetik ürünler gibi.
