Tracking macros is great because it gives you the freedom to indulge here & there, but 90% of my diet is comprised of whole foods filled with MICRONUTRIENTS because micros matter just as much as macros! ___ Micronutrients, micros for short, are the nutrients your body requires in small amounts to help support normal bodily functions, such as energy metabolism, and the formation and maintenance of healthy cells. Micronutrients consist of both vitamins & minerals ____ Let's start with Vitamins! Vitamins help regulate a large variety of processes that occur within the body. Virtually all vitamins are consumed within our diet and they can be either fat-soluble or water-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed with dietary fat and include Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K. These vitamins can be found in foods that have a higher fat content. For instance, high fat meats, dairy products, nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and avocados all provide a great source of fat-soluble vitamins. Interestingly enough, fat-soluble vitamins do not need to be consumed every single day because they are readily stored within adipose tissue (body fat). Unlike fat-soluble vitamins, water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water & are NOT stored within the body. Therefore, you need to consume these vitamins regularly. Water-soluble vitamins are found within fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, and whole grains. ___ Now let's talk about minerals! Minerals help regulate several different processes within the body. For instance, minerals are needed to maintain proper fluid balance, produce muscle contraction, regulate nerve transmission, build strong bones, and conduct metabolic processes.  There are two types of minerals: major minerals, which our body requires in amounts of at least 100mg per day and trace minerals, which our body requires in amounts of at most 100mg per day. Minerals can be found in a variety of foods like vegetables, whole grains, meats, seafood, dairy, nuts, etc. ___ As you can tell, micros are just as important as macros- which is why I recommend making the majority of your macros come from nutrient dense foods! #tbtotinytaz #absaremadeinthekitchen

Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but I find myself reflecting on the decisions I’ve made and where they’ve led me in life. While, I’m in a good spot right now and doing things that are good for me, it’s hard to not wonder once in a while, how different life would be, if you had gone left instead of right, when you hit the fork in the road. . . If you find yourself thinking “what if?” “What if I had chosen Y instead of X, would my life be better?” - ask yourself, are you happy with your life right now? Are you doing things, making decisions that move your closer to your goals? Are you doing things that make you happy? Are you doing things because you want to, not because others want to? . . If you answered no to any of those questions, ask yourself why. And then trust me when I tell you, that you need to change that. As somebody who used to not be able to say no, who made choices based on wanting the approval of other people, who valued her worth on the opinions of others; I can tell you it isn’t worth it. . Deciding to do things for ME, that I want to do for my opinion, not the opinion of others, to focus on my own goals and my own interests, has been one of the best things I’ve ever done. . . Regardless of what you choose; what you do, there will be somebody who doesn’t approve, who criticizes it. You can never make everybody else happy, so at least make yourself happy. Yes, there will always be people who criticize your choices, who try to make you doubt yourself and why you’re doing what you do (show prep is a great example of that), BUT if it’s what you want and it makes you happy, the people who truly care about you, will learn to understand and will support you. Everybody else doesn’t matter. You don’t need that negativity. Yes, they may be coming from a good place initially, but they aren’t taking the time to understand; to see your reasoning. . . Keep your eyes on your own paper; put yourself first when you need to, say no when it’s appropriate, do things for yourself first and because YOU want to. You can’t take care of and love others, if you don’t do it for yourself first.

•NUTRITION• 🥑🍓🥦 Probably the most asked question I get is “what diet are you on?” Diet is a word used for a miserable, restrictive, temporary change in your eating that usually doesn’t work bc it’s unrealistic. If you want lasting results, you can’t expect to follow a fad diet that you can’t stick to long term. Food is fuel & your body can only operate on what you put in your mouth so why wouldn’t you want to nourish it? Abs are made in the kitchen & so is your health. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring and bland. Here’s a few tips I’ve learned throughout the years that have helped me stay on track 👇🏻 ~pack your meals with TONS of veggies...gives you volume & the fiber will keep you full longer. They’re also super versatile to steam/grill/bake/sauté with lots of herbs & seasonings ~try to limit processed/sugary foods...if you can’t pronounce an ingredient on an item it probably isn’t nature made ~ENJOY your favorite sweets/treats...in moderation. Cutting everything out will only make you go crazy when you finally do have the opportunity to eat it ~WATER should be your best friend. Never leave the house without it ~Don’t punish yourself for a cheat meal. Who loves buffalo chicken wraps?!? I know I do 😍🤤 It’s a shame that most restaurants that serve these make them ridiculously unhealthy by adding tons of high cal ingredients such as excessive cheese, ranch, crispy chicken & mayo! Have no fear, this recipe is under 500 cals, protein packed, and tastes out of this world 🌎 Here’s how to make it: • cook up some chicken breast in a little bit of olive oil, season with sea salt, pepper, and onion powder • make the sauce with 2 tbsp of plain nonfat greek yogurt, 2 tsp bolthouse ranch, 1 tbsp of Frank’s buffalo sauce • mix sauce into cooked hot chicken • put 1/3-1/2 cup of chicken mixture into a spinach and herb tortilla wrap (mine is from Aldi’s) • add a handful of spinach & some tomatoes This is a super quick meal to make especially if you already have some cooked up chicken breast 😊 I strongly believe that you don’t have to give up any foods you love to live a healthier lifestyle, you just need to be creative in finding a way to make your favorite meals/treats a little healthier — I hope you enjoy this recipe ❤️

Like going for walks, playing sports, or do yoga. 🤾🏻‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️ 5.) Give yourself a new goal. Whether that is to do a pull up, deadlift 500lbs, squat 300lbs, do a box jump, anything you can implement.
