Sooooo ladies and gents of internet land. For my 200th Instagram post, it gives me great pleasure to reveal the new and improved Gaynor. As I mentioned many weeks ago she put her life in my hands for a full 7 weeks and has made amazing progress. In total, she is down 17lbs, about 12 of those over the last 7 weeks, her overall strength and fitness has come along fantastically, her blood pressure has come down to well within normal numbers (something that sometimes gets overlooked with regular exercise) and most importantly she looks and feels better. It’s only the start of her journey, and there’s plenty more time for her to swear at me 😬 I really look forward to see what the next 6 months brings. Always learning 📚 Fun weekend plans for me! I feel like I’m always learning in this industry - from my clients, from other PTs and through my own research. It’s important to me to give my clients the best service I possibly can, making sure they are fully supported and cared for. I always programme training according to clients individual circumstances, be it considering their characteristics, fitness levels or personal goals or accounting for something deeper such as factoring in current or prior medical conditions or injuries. I have a client with a heart murmur, one with lower back issues, one with a bad knee and another who has had a hip replacement, clients with low self esteem, anxiety and depression and clients who simply want to reach their goals. My goal is to be as knowledgable as I possibly can to make sure I give them the safest, most effective, enjoyable training programmes possible! “I’m a pronator” . Guess what? We ALL are! 👣 That is a normal part of gait & running. What is NOT normal is excessive & uncontrolled pronation. . . What does this mean? If you were born with more “flat feet” you may need 1) a shoe with slightly more arch support 2) strengthen and challenge your foot! . For the latter- it’s easier than you think. Any of the balance exercises you see in the gym, yoga, climbing, dance class, acro, they ALL work to strengthen not only your intrinsic foot muscles but your foot proprioception and lower body kinesthetics. . 👣Other things that help better support our arches: stability up the chain. . . Stronger glutes & hips help to control the position and alignment of our femurs(thigh bones) which connect at the knee and help to position everything further down the chain. Often times I’ll give a client glute bridges & squats to help with not only hip/pelvis stability but foot control and arch position as well. . 👣In terms of strengthening our small foot muscles I often suggest(and do them myself) foot work such as toe curls, actively pulling up the toes to help facilitate the strength in the arch of the foot. These little toe “crunches” can be done anywhere anytime, even while you sit at your desk with your shoes on- imagine scrunching up your toes and drawing them back towards your heel to pull up your arch...you can do these all day long. 👣 . . Takeaways: 1) Hip strength helps support the foot 2) balance in many sports is great 3) foot work such as toe curls are easy to do at work. 4) All of these can be a GREAT addition to your workouts to help improve your foot strength & arch!!! . . . #physicaltherapy #physio #mobility #dowork #fitnessmotivation #fitnessforlife #mobilept #footmobility #healthyfeet #footwork

So you’ve only got 30 minutes too train right? You’re not sure whether to do cardio or weights ? The gym is busy and all this frustration is making you want to leave? Slow down I got you ! 👇🏽 When ever you’re short on time and you have about 30 minutes to train, don’t spend 10 minutes thinking what to do. Do your warm up and get yourself ready for a metabolic circuit , where it’s just you and the clock . Mixing both full body compound resistance moves with body weight cardio exercises! 👇🏽 Still stuck? Try this below for 20 minutes doing as many rounds as you can resting only when you’re tired or if you have heart rate monitor available rest only when your heart rate goes above 85%. 👇🏽 1️⃣ Spend 5 minutes doing some dynamic stretching and SMR. 2️⃣10 Kettlebell squat presses, pick a weight that challenges you 3️⃣ 10 of any style deadlift ( conventional shown in the video) with a challenging weight, into a box jump. 4️⃣10 slam ball throws into half a burpee 5️⃣10 russian twists each side 6️⃣10 splits squats into shoulder press , each leg. 7️⃣ cool down with a 3 minute walk and some static stretching!✅ 👇🏽 Remember I am taking on clients @puregymcroydon , and outside aswell. This is my calcaneal fracture patient after 13 days of weekly treatment ➡️Progress is Amazing with our skilled Physical Therapy One on One Mobile treatment. Current Progress: ⬇️ Swelling by 25% ⬆️ Strength by 20% ⬆️ Increase walking by 30% This all means he's projected to reach a fully functional recovery in about 6 weeks. ➡️His progress could be better though. His progress limiting factors are: 1. Smoking Cigars 2. Bad eating habits 3.
