Another day, another dram! Going for a wee (I use that term loosely) Tamdhu 8 year old, bottled by @gordonandmacphail I bought this one on recommendation by a friend of mine anndddd I am very glad I did! Bottled at 8 years old, I was a little apprehensive; I thought it might be too harsh BUT I have been proven wrong. Matured in refill bourbon and sherry casks, it is very sweet on the nose and to taste, with a little spicy kick!😍 This bottling is actually being discontinued, so I suggest you get yourselves to @gordonandmacphailretail Where we have just a few in stock at a great price. Tam-dhu buy another bottle, perhaps?! (Sorry, that was a terrible joke). . . . #tamdhu #speyside #ianmacleoddistillers #whisky #scotch #singlemaltscotch #singlemaltwhisky #singlemaltscotchwhisky #spiritifspeyside #knockando #aberlour #morayspeyside #gordonandmacphail #whiskyfan #maltwhiskyyearbook #instadrinks #instadram #whiskyporn #whiskylover #whiskygram #glencairn #tamdhuwhisky #tamdhu8

There are many pros & cons for working for yourself but definitely one of the highlights is that when things aren’t going well at my desk, I can grab my car keys & the dog and head to the beach to clear my head. This is Lossiemouth east beach today - dreich but glorious and deserted! We are lucky here in Moray to have so many stunning beaches on our doorstep on which to clear our heads! If you fancy exploring the beaches of the Moray Firth this year we still have availability in all our beautiful properties. All a short drive from the gorgeous Moray coast & one situated just a few minutes walk from the both Lossie beaches. So if it’s buckets & spades, SUP, surfing, sailing or dolphin spotting - it’s all here waiting for you 😊🌊☀️🐳🐬. #morayspeyside #visitmoray #lossiemouth #beachlife #moraycoast #lossieeastbeach #surfsup #holidays2019 #getoutside #medicineforthesoul #idolovetobebesidetheseaside #bucketsandspades #waves #surf

Last Refuge A stormy final day in Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland. This feature of the coastline which is viewable from the main road and only a short walk from my house, is called Shitten Crag. I'll let you figure out why! This section of the coastline is full of amazing compositions that I think I have largely covered over the last few years. However, I had still never taken a photo of the crag from this position with a long focal length. It really helps to convey the scale of the landscape. #long_exposure_pics #long_exposure #long_expo #visitscotland #morayspeyside #coastline #portknockie #winter #scotland_greatshots #canon #canon5dmkiv #canon_photos #instascotland #loves_scotland #naturelovers #naturelover_gr #scotland #landscape #nisifilters #benroletsgo #longexposure #picoftheday #photooftheday #bestoftheday #instadaily #super_photolongexpo #earthpics #awesome_earthpix #worldclasslandscapephotographers

"The Burning Of The Clavie" Burning the clavie is an ancient Scottish custom still observed at Burghead, a fishing village on the Moray Firth. The clavie is a collection of casks split in two, lit as a bonfire in the evening of 11 January, i.e. New Year's Eve (in Scotland, Hogmanay) by the Julian Calendar. One of these casks is joined together again by a huge nail (Latin clavis; hence the term, it may also be from Scottish Gaelic cliabh, a basket used for holding combustibles). It is then filled with tar, lighted and carried flaming round the village and finally up to a headland upon which stands the ruins of an altar, locally called the Doorie. It here forms the nucleus of the bonfire, which is built up of split casks. When the burning tar-barrel falls in pieces, the people scramble to get a lighted piece with which to kindle the New Year's fire on their cottage hearth. The charcoal of the clavie is collected and put in pieces up the cottage chimneys, to keep spirits and witches from coming down. Splashy Splashy I love it when a northerly wind kicks in and whips up the sea. The breaking waves at the harbour are always impressive and I could happily spend hours watching them. Especially on new year's day when the cobwebs need blown out! This was a good day and there were some big waves but I have still seen them bigger than this. I would estimate this one to be 50 feet high. I would say we have seen 80 feet or maybe even bigger! Burning the Clavie at Burghead. It is a celebration of the ancient Scots’ Hogmanay, which falls on January 11, and involves a group of exclusively local men, known as the Clavie Crew. They parade a burning barrel of staves through the village before placing it on the summit of Doorie Hill. #burningoftheclavie #clavie #hogmanay #hogmanay2019 #scotland #scotshots #pictish #ancientscotland #morayspeyside #burghead #fire #firefestival #fujixt1
