Last night at 6:30, we had a group of strong MEN putting in the time and work to Become the Strongest Versions of Themselves. . As men, why should we train? . To get big, swole, yoked, etc? So we can out lift the guy next to us? Because as men, we are "supposed" to be strong? . There is a lot of talk lately about what it means to be a man. What is true masculinity? And is it a bad thing to prioritize developing that sense of manhood and taking pride in being a masculine man? . Real masculinity isn't about what you can lift, or who you can defeat or conquer, or your status or accomplishments. HOWEVER, it is also NOT about becoming soft, comformational, and absolutely accommodating to the whims of everyone who may be scared or offended by a strong Male presence. . Real Masculinity is about lifting others up, leading the way in a world that seems more lost every day. Projecting your personal power into the world with the goal and tone of service, even if that energy is directed towards completing a task that directly conflicts with another. . It is about RESPECTFULLY presenting yourself with confidence and steadfastness in courtship, being sure of who you are and holding nothing back. . Masculinity is a necessary aspect of a successful society. There must also be balance, and a feminine presence both in the strong women that surround men as well as a feminine awareness within the man. Somewhere along the line we have lost sight of the value of a truly good, MASCULINE Man, and we now focus on how we can build men into the most "tolerable" versions of themselves. . Most of all, Masculinity is about the pursuit of excellence in all areas of life, so that your prowess can be used for the betterment of mankind. . The men of STRENGTH CAMP embody these attributes. 🏃🏻‍♂️Fitness hack - everyday activity matters🚵‍♂️⁣ ⁣ 🚶🏼‍♂️Walking around NYC is a lot more work than driving to the gym and back like I do most days. ⁣ ⁣ “NEAT” is an acronym that refers to all the physical activity in your day that isn’t structured exercise. It matters. A lot. ⁣ ⁣ If you’re having trouble getting the fat loss train rolling, your metabolism probably isn’t broken. Instead, you probably just aren’t as active throughout the day as you could be. The old advice about taking the stairs, parking at the back of the lot, etc, actually has some validity.⁣ ⁣ It all adds up. Small actions every day make you gain fat over time, and small actions every day will help you lose it.

🧠 What motivates YOU? . 🧠What makes you tick and light up? What makes you jump out of bed? . 🧠 If you don’t know what is driving you to do your day to day activities, it’s hard to set goals or determine achievements because you’re not clear on who or what is driving you. Your deep reasons. Identifying motivating pieces of your life allows for a new sense of direction and clarity that will eventually shape your actions. . 🧠 Maybe you have children who depend on you and want to create something for them to be proud of and build on going forward. ✈️hydration while traveling🏋🏻‍♂️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ NYC with the wife @leslieeilerthompson this week!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Traveling doesn’t really derail my training or nutrition except for 💧hydration💧It’s tough to drink enough while you’re flying all day or in an unfamiliar area. To make it worse, I’m usually over-caffeinated too☕️When traveling, I have bigger things to worry about than “perfect” nutrition. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My rule? Hydrate more than I think I need to when the opportunity presents itself, then move on. Don’t sweat the details. Not ideal, but like I said, I have other things to worry about. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Don’t let “perfect” training and nutrition rule your life. There’s a lot more to do and see out there.⁣⁣

🥤THE TEA🥯 . ▪️I’ve taken some time from posting for a few reasons; rebranding, content gathering, family things, and just personal. . ▪️With that being said, everything I do and choose, I do with my family in mind. I’m very very very very family oriented and grounded. Lost my second grandmother, and all I was reminded of by my dad today was how she wouldn’t want me to miss work or anything so I can pay my bills and do what’s right for my family and it’s been on my mind all day. . ▪️I had zero intentions on stepping foot in the gym today but I’m happy I did, iron therapy was just what I needed today. Nana knew I needed this and guided my mind here. Also, thank you to my better half @virginia_groogan for being the strength I need and being by my side through this time while I try to hold it together for my dad.

A longer post today, and a very important story. . What do you value the most? Put another way, what is it that would affect you the most to NOT have it? . Money? Or your health? . You cant make money if you dont have your health. Especially if your life ends 20 years early because you never took steps to create you own health. . Overloading the concentric part of my my reps is something I like to do with my 3rd exercise in my workouts. I pick a exercise that I naturally feel well anyway. Today I banded the Hammer Incline and 3 sets of 10-12 became a nightmare quickly, but the boobies were pumped and that was the goal. Give this a go sometime to change things up. Oh how I miss the shredz and vascularity. This was 1-3 days out from my 1st show of 2018. I'll get back there... but 10-15 pounds heavier. Time to level ⬆️

Bodybuilding is its own sport, with its own needs and training methods. And calisthenics make you good at calisthenics, but don’t have much application to job tasks. To be a strong, conditioned, and resilient police officer, you need a radically different workout program.⁣ ⁣ Barbell training has stood the test of time as the most efficient way to develop total-body strength. For example:⁣ Week 1 - 20 miles⁣ Week 2 - 22 miles⁣ Week 3 - 24 miles⁣ Week 4 - 20 miles⁣ Week 5 - 24 miles⁣ Week 6 - 26 miles⁣ And so on. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣Strength train - 2x per week using major barbell exercises. ⁣ ⁣ ✅Free 6 week strength program for runners in bio⁣ ⁣ Squat, bench press, deadlift, overhead press, pull-ups, rows. Sprinkle in some core work and single leg work and you’re good to go. ⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣Rate your sessions - if every session is a 9 or 10/10 effort, change up pace/mileage. ⁣ ⁣ Not every session should be difficult. Intensity should wave up and down throughout the week. If you find yourself dreading each run and getting lots of aches and pains, back off your pacing or mileage to allow for better adaptation. Currently we are getting ready to compete again in October @flexlewisclassic . ♠️ It shows that time and consistency are powerful things. Currently his calories are over 5500kcal a day on low days. He reversed correctly out of his prep and was able to get his food very high while being in decent offseason condition. Offseason is where you set yourself up for being better than your last outing. Jeff has given that and his heart will working a full time job as a mechanic, father to 4, and coaching others part time. It’s all about the want to, and he is full of it.

#flexfriday with a little #flashbackfriday sprinkled beautifully and effortlessly as if over some sexy ice cream. It was a week out from Nationals and I went well guess my back grew 😂🙆‍♂️

January is Structure Phase of our program. That means our focus is on correcting movements patterns and creating the most aligned and stable human body you are capable of having. Today, our lifting super sets consisted of pairing Dead Bugs with Push Press, and Bird Dogs with Bent Over Row. Strength/fitness nerds/enthusiasts, read on 💪🤓 . During the overhead press, a common tendency is to let the spine arch backwards and turn a vertical press into more of an incline press. Today we worked on developing Dynamic anterior trunk stability with Dead Bugs in order to combat this tendency. 🐞🐜 . Our 2nd movement was the bent over barbell row. This movement requires a lot of hamstring, glute, and low back static strength and stability, as well as strong and stable shoulder girdles and upper back. Bird dogs accomplish the development and activation of all of these things when you include a brief pause at the end range of motion.🦅🐕 . This is what all of our lifting super sets look like for the month of January. We are ensuring that while also strengthening the body, we are developing the movement capacity that the body was made to have but is often lost through mis-use or non-use. .
