My favorite shot from this year's Flex Lewis Classic where I placed 2nd in the two classes I entered. 2nd in physique open and 2nd in 35+ masters physique. Yeah... my old ass is now 35 years old. • • I set 2 goals for this year. 1) To come in bigger than last year. I came in at 11 pounds heavier. 2) To qualify for a national show, which I did by placing 2nd. Overall I'm happy with my progress, but I'm only just getting started. I'm nowhere near done! Wait... and watch. @teamdieseltraining and I are working!

Sundays are a good time for reflection. The previous week is officially over, while a new one is about to begin. Also a lot of stuff is closed, so what else do you have to do? - As I evaluate where we are as a gym and a business in order to plan for the future, I have to remind myself what this place has become and why we're here to begin with. - "To Become the Strongest Version of Yourself and Empower Others." - Upon reflection, I see how fortunate I am to have had the chance to work with all of these incredible individuals. Eating for your body type! Did you know that body type can tell you how you respond to food intake, and give you more information about your hormonal and sympathetic nervous system characteristics? Let's learn more about each of these body types. ———————————————————————— •Ectomorph Ectomorphs are categorized by their smaller bone structures and thinner limbs. Sprinters and basketball players typically have this body type. This body type has a higher metabolic rate and a high carbohydrate tolerance. (Good news if you love potatoes and sad news when you love guacamole!) Ectomorph macronutrient breakdown: 55% carbohydrates 25% protein 20% fat ———————————————————————— •Endomorph Endomorphs are categorized by a larger bone structure and a large amount of total body mass and fat mass. Think of a football lineman or a powerlifter. This body type typically does not have as high of a metabolic rate like the ectomorph. This means that excess calories are more likely to be stored as fat. If you love guacamole (or any other healthy fat) and you're an endomorph, rejoice! It’s easy to get in your head during prep - especially the final few weeks. I think every competitor could smile and nod along with that statement. The thoughts of did I do enough? Am I better than last time? Did I make the most of my time to improve? ▪️🔲▪️ This morning I was in my head if I was even good enough to be taking on those competiting at Nationals this year. All during cardio I kept scrutinizing my pics, seeing all the flaws, doubt creeping in. As in true honest fashion with myself, I said fuck it, see what you looked like and weighed at 4 weeks out last year versus you being at 4 weeks out today. I was 166 in both pics. ▪️🔲▪️ Perspective and understanding is a helluva reminder to the journey that improvement is built upon. I know I have more work ahead of me still, but these pics serve as a reminder that I upheld my end of the deal, I improved and that is all each of us can control. #flexfriday

🔮 Want an answer to your injury, your exercise selection, your food habits, your success path? . 🔮 There is no ONE way or right way, it all depends - on you and your body and your history and injuries and your choices and what is important to you. . 🔮 This is one answer that most people don’t like to hear. But ... it depends. For example: . 🔮 This week in class we were working the hinge via the Kettlebell swing. Someone’s back was bothering them so we tried staggering their stance in the swing ... and boom, back felt fine hinge looked great. They asked, “is it ok to swing like this? I thought the feet had to be lined up.” Of course it’s ok, and who says the feet have to line up, especially if it’s causing pain? It depends on the person but in this case the stagger stance was 🌟! . 🔮 Experiment. Be honest with yourself. Get clear. Keep moving forward and sometimes backwards.
