I got lucky at a young age and realized this is what I want to do. Not necessarily personal training or strength training but teaching. I love to teach and to pass on knowledge. Personal training is arbitrary. Teaching is a passion. Anyone can read a book and pass a test but not everyone can find ways to get people to relate to material and pass on knowledge. It’s more than teaching how to properly squat or press or plank. Those things are very important, yes, but can you build trust and relationships? That’s what personal training is. I burned more calories in this 20 minute workout, than I have in all my 1 hour workouts all week. #thatsinsane 🤗 On the real tho? It isn't always about how much energy (fuel/calories) you burn. It's about GAINS. 😉 Gaining knowledge. Gaining muscle. Gaining self-confidence. Gaining coordination. Gaining aerobic capacity. (Thanks @ablakestephens) 🙂 I approached today's workout with a new knowledge I gained from Blake...I paced myself. If you have ever done @shaunt program, then you know usually by minute 5 you are dying. Thanks to what I have learned from Blake...I didn't do that. Now, dont get me wrong, I was working at about 85% capacity the entire workout. @myzonemoves shows me that. But I didnt get into the red...I can't sustain that level for 20 minutes, but I can the 85%. And that's improvement. That's GAINS BABY.

The infamous ab wheel!! Its a great core exercise, but most people are doing it wrong, which means they're not engaging the core or over extending the reach which can result in a tear in your connective tissues in your shoulder. Here are a few tips that can help: * Arms should be straight and directly over shoulders. Move forward from your core. Keep your abs tight, the hips stable, and the lower back muscles contracted. *Keep head neutral. Roll out until you can no longer control wheel with your core. Do not let hips sag or arch. DO NOT use hips to assist in bringing the wheel back to start position. This is a core exercise. Start with 10 reps and gradually work your way up. Ahhhhh. Insert screaming voice.... Basically my mood this past month. Life truly can throw curve balls at you when you least expect it. I haven’t made a post dedicated to my Potato in way too long, so I think it’s time. He deserves a nice-smart assy post dedicated to his Potato ways. This past month I’ve fallen off track from not only just my overall goals, but just from being my true self. I’ve been in a funk, and it’s honestly been extremely hard to get back up. I would keep telling myself it’s a new day, and then just force myself to try and get back to normalcy, but I realized that I had to just let the certain emotions I was feeling take its course. This past weekend I checked in with Caleb, and we just talked about what I was personally going through. I realized that this man is not only an amazing trainer, but he’s such a stellar human. The large and in charge dude is honestly just a teddy bear with a huge heart for others....a teddy bear with tattoos. It was nice to just chat about life, and I think I needed to let certain things out to someone. He’s constantly pushing himself, and all of us to be better every single day. So thank you Potato...for just being your rad, tatted self! 🥔🥔🥔🥔 POTATO SQUAD RISE UP.

Keeping things interesting, we have worked lighter weights higher volume and some new moves this week. • Know your goals and how to maintain them. @chaserice is a performer. His 1st goal is to be able to have high energy to sing and perform for a 90 min show. His 2nd is to be healthy while staying active. His 3rd is to look good while doing his first two goals! Our workouts are tailored around that. There are so many options for health and fitness, find what you need and enjoy to achieve your goals. #findyourpeace

#tbt 2014 My first teaching job was actually at LA Fitness in 2013. They hired me on the spot to teach Cardio Kickboxing. I was NERVOUS AS BALLS. Yall....so nervous. I auditioned, then taught my first class that same day. I taught in Rivergate, and then some in Hermitage and Antioch. I LOVED THAT PLACE. My next teaching job was at the Bellevue YMCA. I taught Turbokick, Piyo, and kids fitness (pure joy). I loved my classes!!!! But the gym? Not so much. (Long story) So I quit for awhile. My next spot was Christina's Dance Center. I rented a space and taught Turbokick, Insanity, and Piyo. Life long friendships developed there. But the class time was too late, and people stopped coming. So I stopped. Next up was Snap Fitness. I was actually hired as a personal trainer, but saw their need for classes. So I taught Turbokick, Insanity, and Piyo. I loved that place, but my body was starting to rebel against all my overtraining...so group fitness instructing halted. Until last year as I started coaching LeanFitMC classes. They are more like group training, than group fitness, so my body doesn't get beat up. With more to come in the near feature!!! Imagine if I hadn't applied at LA Fitness? Imagine if I hadn't listened to Erica Bolton when she said, "What's the worst that can happen? They say no? You won't die!" I am still listening E. Everytime I'm scared to take a leap. I hear you. My growth may take longer than some. But I'm still growing thanks to you.
