Plea in LHC seeks ‘proper explanation’ of ECL procedure #newsong #newstyle #newseason #newspaper #newsingle #newsouthwales #newschool #newshoes #newstart #newstuff #newsletter #newschooltattoo #newstock #newshop #newshirt #newsongs #newstore #newshit #newsound #newshow #newseries #newspapers #newstudio #newsmyrnabeach #newskills #newstyles #newschoolers #newskool #newsies #newskin LAHORE:  A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday for explanation of procedure regarding induction and removal of names in the Exit Control List (ECL). The federal government, prime minister, interior minister, chairman NAB and other departments concerned have been made respondents in the plea by the petitioner. “According to the law, secretary interior has right to place names on the ECL”, the petitioner stated in his plea. He further contended that the names were not included or excluded from the ECL even on the court orders, which made the ECL procedure further complicated. He pleaded the court to clarify the procedure of induction and removal of the names from the ECL. On October 10, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar had approached the Ministry of Interior for removal of their names from the Exit Control List. As per details, Sharif and members of his family, who were released from Adiala prison after suspension of their jail terms by the Islamabad High Court last month, wrote a letter to the interior ministry, asking it strike their names off the no-fly list. As an interim relief, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Sept 19 suspended the conviction of Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield properties case. Their names were placed on the Exit Control List after an approval from the new cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The cabi ...

US, Europe shun Saudi conference over journalist Khashoggi’s disappearance #newsong #newstyle #newseason #newspaper #newsingle #newsouthwales #newschool #newshoes #newstart #newstuff #newsletter #newschooltattoo #newstock #newshop #newshirt #newsongs #newstore #newshit #newsound #newshow #newseries #newspapers #newstudio #newsmyrnabeach #newskills #newstyles #newschoolers #newskool #newsies #newskin US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and senior ministers from Europe on Thursday pulled out of an investment conference in Saudi Arabia, deepening the kingdom’s isolation amid an uproar over the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Officials from some of Saudi Arabia’s leading Western allies joined a slew of corporate bigwigs who are now shunning next week’s gathering, touted as a high-powered showcase for the economic reforms of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In an announcement that sent stocks tumbling on Wall Street, Mnuchin said he had decided with President Donald Trump that he would “not be participating in the Future Investment Initiative summit in Saudi Arabia”. The decision was given in a terse tweet after Trump and Mnuchin were briefed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has just returned from Saudi Arabia and Turkey to probe for answers over the journalist’s disappearance in Istanbul. Mnuchin gave no explanation. But Britain and France — which like the United States are leading suppliers of arms to Saudi Arabia — made clear their disquiet over Khashoggi’s fate as they yanked their own representation at the Riyadh conference. “We have taken this decision in a coordinated manner among Europeans,” President Emmanuel Macron told reporters at an EU summit in Brussels. “It is what’s requir ...

The provincial legislature is scheduled to meet today to discuss budget. The security personnel deployed at the assembly entrance denied entry to the six MPAs who have been suspended and served show-cause notices for reportedly damaging benches and other properties of the house during its previous session. Subsequently, members of the opposition gathered outside the assembly, protesting against Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. Leader of the Opposition in the provincial legislature Hamza Shehbaz joined the protesters. Speaking on the occasion, he said the opposition members will not attend the session unless the orders with regard to suspension of the MPAs are withdrawn. He demanded that the speaker should retract his remarks about members of the opposition or else they won’t attend the assembly session. Hamza announced to boycott the session until their demands are not met. Taking an aim at the ruling coalition, he said that a person who stole votes is occupying the office of the speaker. Prime Minister Imran Khan, who had called Mr Elahi a plunderer, got him elected to this coveted post, he added. The post PML-N bo ...

Barcelona and Real scrap for revival as Clasico looms #newsong #newstyle #newseason #newspaper #newsingle #newsouthwales #newschool #newshoes #newstart #newstuff #newsletter #newschooltattoo #newstock #newshop #newshirt #newsongs #newstore #newshit #newsound #newshow #newseries #newspapers #newstudio #newsmyrnabeach #newskills #newstyles #newschoolers #newskool #newsies #newskin Real Madrid and Barcelona cannot avoid heading into next week’s Clasico under pressure but each have two games to lift the mood at least, ahead of the pivotal clash at the Camp Nou. Eight games into La Liga and both Julen Lopetegui and Ernesto Valverde are feeling the heat, forced to defend poor runs that have seen their teams manage a combined total of two wins from their last 10 games. Madrid’s slump feels the more entrenched, given they are without a goal in 360 minutes, discounting injury time, and three of their last four matches have ended in defeat. While Barca can point to their riveting win at Wembley over Tottenham, and then a point gained in Valencia, Madrid have endured successive setbacks away to CSKA Moscow and Alaves. They have two home games to clear the fog, and winnable ones too, against Levante in La Liga on Saturday before Viktoria Plzen visit on Tuesday in the Champions League. A pair of victories, and just as importantly, some goals, would earn Lopetegui much-needed breathing space. He is already being asked about his future in the same job he sacrificed Spain and the World Cup for in June. “A coach does not think about this, we are in October,” Lopetegui said after Alaves’ first league win at home to Real Madrid since 1931. “The only positive is we are close to the top of the league, the most important thing now is to recover the injured players and then calmness will come by winning games and scoring goals.” Injuries have certain ...

Pompeo told journalists the Saudis assured him “they will conduct a complete, thorough investigation of all the facts.” Trump had put off a decision on what to do about the crisis in relations with its strategic Middle Eastern ally until Pompeo reported back his talks in Riyadh and Ankara. “I told President Trump this morning we ought to give them a few more days to complete that so that we, too, have a complete understanding of the facts surrounding that, at which point we can make decisions how or if the United States should respond to the incident surrounding Mr Khashoggi,” Pompeo said. Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi regime as well as a US resident and a Washington Post columnist, disappeared on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul for documents he needed to get married. Turkish officials were reported to be in possession of an audio recording demonstrating that he was tortured, murdered and dismembered by a Saudi assassination team inside the consulate. The post

Italy’s plans to increase spending instead of cutting budgets “are unprecedented in the history of the Stability and Growth Pact,” the EU’s top economic affairs officials wrote in a letter to Rome, referring to the bloc’s rules on public spending. In the letter, Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said the 2019 budget was in “serious non-compliance” of EU law. Crucially, this meant the Italian budget can be rejected by Brussels and sent back for revision this month, a move that would be a first in the European Union. The commission gave the Italian government until Monday October 22 at 1200 CET (1000 GMT) to respond to the concerns.
