In Chinese medicine, kidneys are the source of yin and yang and our vital essence. Chinese medicine also sees the adrenal glands as part of the kidney! When I went to my naturopath for the skin condition I was having, she told me that it is because of poorly functioning adrenal glands. So I am trying to follow her eating guidelines. When I was weighed at the doctors office today I weighed 6 pounds less than I was less than two weeks ago... usually as a woman it’s exciting to lose weight but it concerned me because I know it was anxiety and stress induced weight loss😣 which is NOT a good thing. It’s definitely hard to eat when your stomach is in knots and I haven’t had much of an appetite. When you don’t eat very much your stomach will start to shrink. I find that to be true because I could only eat half of this beautiful salad and it’s not even as big as my usuals. So instead of forcing this down I’m going to meditate, write down my gratitude list and Understand that stress and anxiety is only temporary🧘‍♀️ I’ll try again after-I really don’t want to lose my booty🍑😉

| SEA BUCKTHORN | . . . Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) 🌿 . Into the food forest we went, looking for medicinal herbs to harvest for Wild Yarrow’s Clinic, when we came across this Sea buckthorn shrub and were totally struck by its beauty! The brightly coloured berries really stand out against the silver green leaves and holy smokes are they ever delicious! There is a ton of flavour with no subtlety in the tartness department, but you will also notice a little sweetness amongst the sour. These berries are so packed full of Vitamin C they outdo Oranges in the Vitamin C department; containing about 400mg/100g, whereas an orange has about 53 mg/100g! With high amounts of protein, antioxidants, fibre, vitamins and minerals, these little orange berries are quite the food ally. . Veggie sauté 😋 I make this at least once a week & just switch up the vegetables that I use. & I always make enough to last a few days! It saves well & saves time which all of us moms can use more of🤣 . . 1. Choose your oil to cook with( one that can stand medium to high heat w/out being damaged. Ex Ghee, olive oil, or coconut oil.) 2. Choose your veggies! --- I always use garlic, shallots & some type of onion to flavor these dishes, cut those up first & let cook with your oil for a bit to bring out the flavors. Next, add in your "thicker" vegetables & cook for a bit. Always save any leafy greens for last!! This dish I used: Ghee, garlic, shallots, green onions, Brussels sprouts, carrots, grape tomatoes, & kale. Sweet Potato Skillet Home Fries by @sweetpotatosoul. Sweet, spicy, soft and crispy. This skillet hash is so good I’ve made it twice for dinner in the past week. The ingredients are uncomplicated, but pack a serious punch of flavor. A simple sauté of onions and peppers are mixed in with chunks of charred crispy sweet potatoes then tossed with smoked paprika, fennel seeds, chili flakes and black pepper for an extra kick. This dish will definitely tickle your tongue, so scale back on the pepper if you’re sensitive to spice. I served this with my favorite apple sage sausage from @fieldroast, but the accompaniments are endless (omelettes! roasted veggies! sandwiches!).
