❌🚫Lektion des Tages! 🚫❌ Kennst du das? Dein Tag fängt so richtig besch****n an und man kommt super easy in diesen „Drama-Pony - die Welt ist gegen mich“-Modus und zieht das schlimmstenfalls durch den ganzen Tag. Tag hinüber, Laune hinüber und man scheint das Unglück nahezu anzuziehen...yeah 🤦🏼‍♀️ Heute war bei mir so ein Tag - Bahn zu spät bei -7 Grad, Portemoinnaie verloren (zum Glück wiedergefunden), eine Kundin zerschießt aus Versehen ihre ganze Webseite, die man grade erst fertig gemacht hat und dann steckt der Bus im Stau und man verpasst die Rück-Bahn, die natürlich ausgerechnet dann mal pünktlich war (ich meine hallo? Normalerweise kann man sich da safe drauf verlassen, dass die zu spät kommt 🧐) Wie auch immer 😂 Ich hätte eine Entscheidung treffen können. Nämlich die, dass heute einfach ein blöder Tag ist und die Welt gegen mich. Aber: Ich habe mich bewusst dagegen entschieden, bin von meinem Drama-Pony 🦄 abgestiegen und hab gesagt: Nein, heute kann noch Mega werden. Alles eine Frage der inneren Einstellung. 💫 🦄 Und was ist passiert? Ich hab einfach mit guter Laune weitergemacht und dadurch 70 neue Gruppen-Anfragen bei Facebook, die 100k bei Pinterest geknackt, eine liebe Nachricht von meinem Papa bekommen....Es läuft doch! 🎉🦄💫 Das wäre nicht passiert, wenn ich schön auf meinem Drama-Pony 🦄 weiter Richtung Sonnenuntergang geritten wäre 😂😂😂 Was ich damit sagen will: Wir können jeden Moment entscheiden, wie wir uns verhalten. So after 3 and a half years of knowing @sophieemmalucy I have finally managed to convince her to join me for a gym session. _ So we did push on Saturday and Pull on Sunday. To be fair to the girl she did pretty fucking well 😂. Managed to pick up movements pretty quickly and actually feel it in the right place. (Good teacher or good student? 🤔).. _ So for any of you that are relatively new to training here’s some tips on how to approach it; _ Get someone who knows what they’re doing to help you. (This may not be your local pt, most jacked guy at the gym or girl with 100k+ followers.). _ Start simple. Sophie did 2 sets, 8-12 reps, slow controlled tempo, nothing to failure. _ Enjoy it. I did everything possible to ensure Sophie enjoyed her sessions meaning she’ll WANT to come again. I’m not naive enough to believe that everyone will take an immediate attraction to the gym like I (and a lot of other PT’s) did. Different people will enjoy and be motivated by different things. Mechanical stress - caused by lifting heavy weights ⁣ ⁣ 3. Metabolic stress - accumulation of metabolites (e.g. lactate) in the muscle and insufficient oxygen supply (e.g. when you lift until failure)⁣ ⁣ 💪🏼 Training:⁣ ⁣ ❗️Guidelines how to use the different mechanisms: ⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 Lift in the 60 - 90% of your 1 repetition maximum (RM) range to maximise gains (mechanical stress)⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 If you lift light weight (< 60% 1 RM), then lift until failure (metabolic stress)⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼 Use blood flow restriction training for very light weight (< 40% 1 RM) if:⁣ ⁣ ▪️ the time to reach failure is too long⁣ ⁣ ▪️ you have to use low load because of an injury or age (e.g. if you have back problems and want to squat to train legs)⁣ ⁣ ▪️ if you want to get the best out of your home workout and don’t have heavy weights at home⁣ ⁣ 🌱Diet: ⁣ ⁣ Eating protein also stimulates muscle growth. Mindfully eating is a skill that can become a huge game changer for those trying to lose weight. - Too many times during the day, people find themselves snacking on something, eat way too fast, or doing something else while eating. - But if you can mindfully say that you are actually hungry, slowing down, and focusing on eating what’s in front of you will make a big difference. - As a result from doing the things on the checklist, you not eat as many calories and you will also make your life feel a lot less hectic. - It takes time to be able to implement these strategies. We are so used to eating on the go and shoveling it down our throats to head to work, take care of the kids, or whatever other commitments you might have in your life. - Not only will you be taking in less calories, your stress level will decrease. Your winter bulk isn’t a now goal, it’s a future reveal. It’s a time to put your head down and stay focused on the future while all the naysayers form an opinion as to why your bodies changed. I say let them talk, because they still notice your efforts, although they may not understand them they still notice. Trust the process, it leads to your journey. You’ll then look back and say... look where I am now!. Be clear on your body goal, the process will take you through stages you won’t feel comfortable in but know the outcome is your future. Form was perfect and we find higher reps better at the moment as joints are a little sore from all the previous heavy training but intensity was kept high. Don’t be intimidated by the gym in January . Really great post from @grenadefit for anyone that is fearing the gym, not just in January, but any time of year! 🙈 . We all create stories in our heads as to what others might be thinking, to the point where it can prevent us doing something that we really want to do! . The gym is no exception to that. I was incredibly nervous when I first went to the gym and I know many others will be experiencing that very feeling right now 😖 . We see those experienced guys and girls with their perfect physiques and immediately tell ourselves that they will be judging us the moment we walk in on our size, shape, strength or form! In fact, those experienced gym goers are just as likely to be worried about what you think of them or paying you no thoughts whatsoever! 🤐 . A few tips to get you on your way . 1️⃣ I overcame that initial fear by training with someone. Safety in numbers! And it really worked, not only from a confidence perspective (and I was a really shy child/teenager) but also to help and push one another. The more you repeat the process of getting to the gym, doing what you went in for and leaving again, the sooner it becomes second nature and you won’t even remember why you felt scared in the first place! . 2️⃣ Work with a PT. Not only will they be a great support when you first begin, but they will be able to teach you correct techniques from the outset, which will be invaluable for continued progress! . 3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to try new things until you stick on something that you really enjoy! Enjoyment is essential for the long term sustainability of your progress! . If you’ve yet to make a start, or can recall back to that first time, what was the biggest fear you had? . . . . .

5 years ago I was eating a grain-free, sugar-free, meat-heavy diet because I read and heard how grains and certain carbohydrates exacerbated various digestive issues and caused problems because they were difficult to digest. Inevitably the list of foods I could eat became a parcel lineup you could fit on a post-it note. ⁣ ⁣ Cut to years later and my health wasn't all that much better. I kept eliminating more and more from my diet when my symptoms flared up again. It was miserable. Not only to have obnoxious, persisting chronic conditions but also making everything from scratch because my limited diet prevented me from eating out. I was a slave to my diet believing it was the cure-all. Wanna know what finally healed my gut and my body? My mind. My heart and my spirit. My giving up on the idea that food was THE THING to heal me and embracing the idea that I WAS THE THING that was going to heal me. ⁣ ⁣ I stopping agonizing about what I should and shouldn’t be eating and started listening to what my body wanted. I tuned into my body, stopped forcing it to function under stressed out rules and restrictions and ate in a conscious and loving way. And ya know what? My gut, my poor wrecked and malnourished gut, and the rest of my body started to heal. Whilst eating grains and natural sugars! ⁣ When I realized I instinctively knew all along what was going to rebalance these chronic issues it was like, damn. I COULD HAVE EATEN BREAD THIS WHOLE TIME??? ⁣ ⁣ Start listening to your body, mind, and spirit - where YOUR TRUTH lives, not someone else’s version of healthy and happy. When you begin to have an honest dialogue with yourself you also unlock your innate potential to HEAL yourself by yourself, which is what your body is designed to do.
