First run of 2019 and first workout after surgery is in the books! It was slow but felt good despite a few twinges and swelling. Excited to get back out there and crush my running goals this year!

Have been so stressed lately that I’ve found myself only eating 1-2 meals per day, and usually it’s just whatever I can find. Hello everyone, welcome back : ). Just a reminder that if you see this same shot over and over again, it’s just because it’s too dark outside still to take pretty pictures right now. Okay, with only 6 hrs sleep “giving my best and highest” was just getting up and doing my run this morning. No fastest time, no sprinting at the end. Just get up and do the dang thing! So yes, I believe that “your best and highest” can and will change from day to day. Yet I also believe that, “hard work and effort never betrays” whatever that looks like for you. So the weather Gods were smiling down on me again this morning as although there will be rain today, I ran a dry run 🏃🏻: ). Tunes this morning- a mix of Fleetwood Mac - mostly from their debut and “Rumours” albums. If you’re thinking, “wow David has quite a diverse and eclectic taste in music” Well you’d be spot on : ). I ran 7km in 30min 43sec. I will take that considering... Tomorrow I am rewarded with a day off!!! Take advantage of those as they are just as important as getting enough good sleep 😴. So I took time off from running bc my right knee was causing me problems (but I didn’t use it as an excuse to stop exercising, I just modified my exercise routine) but now I’m back at it! All smiles because the next time I run more than five miles, I’ll be midway through my half marathon!! . Used the “decent” weather today as my opportunity to get my last long run of eleven miles in before race day. I knew the forecast for this weekend wasn’t going to allow for an outdoor run and I couldn’t fathom doing eleven indoors. So, I waited for the rain to stop and the temp to warm up, headed out and got it done. I’m so glad I did! . Today’s takeaway: be flexible. Things might not always go to schedule but if you can learn to adapt and go with the flow, good things can and will happen. A little adjustment of my running routine for the week has now got me feeling pretty confident for next weekends race. Oh and in addition, if you think you can, you will, #mindovermatter. . Boyfriend is still really sick and we aren’t sure what’s causing it, so in the meantime I’m trying to replace ‘unhealthy’ foods in his diet with healthier options to help him heal. Today I replaced his regular bacon with turkey bacon- he is bacons #1 fan but still loved this alternative. Also replaced his usual white toast with a gluten free pita with PB. It was inevitable. I was bound to fall at some point in my winter running journey. We switched up our running mileage to 5 miles today because we have some more snow heading our direction and wanted to get it in. Thanks @mcdonalds for not icing your sidewalk well enough to prevent black ice. Luckily I was going extremely slow anyway so my feet just kind of slipped to the side. And also lucky that I have plenty of padding in my thighs and they helped cushion my landing. 😂 At the end of the run, I discovered that @vharryman fell in exactly the same spot. We can’t help but twin ALL the time, haha. To top the rest of my morning off, I somehow managed to lock my keys in my car and Val had to take me back to my house to get the spare set. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I was also late to work. I didn’t have a lot of time to workout today, the hubs work holiday party is tonight. Is this you? Not a lot of time for a workout today, not a problem. I took my feet to the streets today for my mid-week workout! Ran a quick 2.5 mile run & then did some abs. Real feel 14 no problem, why? Because it’s mid January, we just got our first snow, & I can still run outside.
