I'm someone that's always ate what I wanted and when I felt like it simply because I enjoy food. However I was definitely indulgent at times. Jay and I have been doing #keto the past 3 weeks and we're both already seeing results, on top of doing weights 3 times a week and going for walks. . I've dropped 3.2 kgs already in a short amount of time, am less bloated and only eat when I'm hungry. Keto is great, we keep it lowcarb and avoid sugar where we can. My cravings have stopped significantly. I find my head is clearer and I have more energy. . A friend also recommended #oxyshred which has been amazing! It's true that when you get into a relationship you put on weight, it was true for both of us! Working at our desk sitting down for long periods each day didn't help either. COMPETING IN THE WBFF ✨ ⁣⁣ The reason why I think I’m drawn to competing in the WBFF aside from the glitz/glams/amazing friends you meet is because it’s all on you! It’s not a team sport in which you rely on others to be training & eating in order to perform well on the day 💯 It’s YOUR responsibility to get to the gym, to choose water over cocktails or meal prep over fast food 👌🏽 It’s you who has to get up on that stage in 5-6 inch heels in front of judges and a room full of strangers that are watching your every move, no one else ✔️ The only thing you can do is focus on giving it your all from the physio, to training, nutrition, hydration, sleep & of course posing practice 💁🏽‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I never go into comp with a goal of getting a certain placing because you can’t control what the judges like or how others look on stage ☺️ All I focus on is making myself proud 💜 which I’ve already done! #flashbackfriday to last year’s @wbff_official 🌴LA PRO/AM🏆 I think one of the fundamental reasons why I gravitate towards competing on stage is the high level of personal accountability required to achieve stage-ready condition. The fact that you will be required to showcase your “body of work” under harsh downlighting for a judging panel who will be critically analysing every facet of your physique makes you push that little bit harder in the gym and keep things a little bit tighter with your diet. You become brutally honest with yourself and your harshest critic. - Your size, symmetry, proportions and conditioning are all heavily scrutinised in conjunction with a posing routine which must emphasise your strengths and hide your weaknesses whilst simultaneously amplifying your unique personality traits that set you apart as a Fitness Model. - Considering every aspect is judged right down to the finer details it’s inevitable that your preparation with training and nutrition in the lead up to the competition will reflect this. As “D-Day” draws closer you start to turn the ‘volume up’ and as your energy levels drop due to calorie restriction you are required to double down on your efforts to bring a competitive package to the stage. From personal experience I’ve found that there’s a big difference between “beach body” and “stage ready” condition. The final “pinch” required to dig deep and reach this level of conditioning can be challenging physically and psychologically but that’s the type of challenge that I gravitate to. When you achieve a level of conditioning that you haven’t experienced before and you’ve attained it by pushing yourself past thresholds you didn’t think you could previously pass you will find that the sense of personal fulfilment will far outweigh any trophy or placing. Competing isn’t for everyone. A subjective sport by its very nature I can appreciate that some competitors may feel disenchanted when a result doesn’t go their way. However, I think a healthier outlook on competing is to go in with the intention of surpassing YOUR previous best. Forget about the variables you can’t control and focus on the ones that you can.

Final Challenge Weekly Wrap Up That great 90’s band The Verve said it best – ‘Every new beginning is some other new beginnings end’. They did then go on to kick me out of the pub at 3am and force me to drink on the streets so I wouldn’t call them my favourite, but they did have a point. As the sun sets on our eight-week challenge, we have two options. We can go back to our old, unhealthy ways or we can continue, create healthy lifestyles. For me, I never viewed this as an eight-week challenge. I viewed this as a rest of life challenge. I wanted a springboard, an external force to knock me out of my inertia of unhealthy habits and get that momentum to propel me into a life of healthy decisions. I’ve raised my standards to a new kind of normal. I’ll re-enforce my habits with another 8 week challenge coming up at my gym @rhinohealthandfitness that, coincidentally, starts next week. The timing couldn’t be more perfect. I’ll take everything I’ve learned through this challenge and, along with my trusty @ehplabsausnz supplements of course, and double down for another 8 weeks. On my goal board I have a quote – ‘No excuses. A good excuse opens the door to a bad excuse’. I had that sitting somewhere I would see it every day so, when I didn’t feel like going to the gym and that little voice in my head was piping up to find an excuse to justify it, I’d look at that quote and soldier on. By the fourth week, I didn’t need to. I was in a flow. In the zone. I couldn’t live without my daily exercise. That’s how a habit is born. Discipline trumps motivation. It’s easy to do something when you’re motivated to do it. Much, much harder to do something if you don’t feel like. I was reminded just this morning that it only takes us dropping our standards, just once, to let those old habits creep back in. We don’t shop. We don’t track our food. Choc Peanut Butter Banana Muffins 🙈🍌 . INGREDIENTS ▪️1/2 cup oats, ground into flour ▪️1 scoop @blessedprotein_ausnz choc coconut protein powder ▪️1/2 cup mashed banana ▪️1/3 cup sugar free maple syrup ▪️1/2 cup peanut butter ▪️1/3 cup almond milk ▪️1/2 tsp baking powder ▪️1/2 tsp baking soda ▪️1/2 tsp salt . I weight train 4 x a week, I do no cardio & I aim for 10k steps a day. That’s all. My sessions go for 45-60 minutes (depending on how long I rest for). Honestly, if you’re spending more than an hour in the gym you’re either not working hard enough or taking way too long with your rest periods (guilty of both, hi 🙋🏼‍♀️). . Take your focus off how much time you ‘should’ be spending in the gym, and place it in the quality of that session. Don’t just mindlessly go through the reps to ‘get it done’ have intention behind every single rep, even your warm up reps. Whilst down for the Arnold Classic last weekend I got an awesome Leg session in with @jaredhustler_wbffpro . If you’re looking to increase overall size and strength through your Legs, consider dropping these 5 exercises into your training program along with the accompanying tips and cues. . 1️⃣BB Back Squats: this free-weight compound exercise is excellent for overall size and strength development in the legs. Focus on maintaining a neutral spine with your chest proud, shoulder blades retracted, and core braced. Using a belt can help with bracing but if you are a beginner, I would suggest learning how to properly perform the Squat without additional accessory equipment. As you drive out of the hole think “Knees Out!” and spread the floor with your feet. . 2️⃣Narrow-stance Leg Press: position your feet with a narrow stance to emphasise tension through the vastus lateralis (outer Quad sweep). Slowly descend to increase Time-Under-Tension. Go through a ROM that you are most comfortable with but endeavour to descend past parallel if possible. . 3️⃣DB Walking Lunges: functional free-weight compound exercise focused on Quad’s, Hamstrings and Glutes. Bring your front foot forward and bend your leg until you create a 90° angle with your back knee nearly touching the ground. . 4️⃣Leg Extensions: excellent Quad isolation exercise. Avoid the temptation to allow the machine’s levers to do all the work. Slow and deliberate eccentric phase controlling the load on the way down before exploding up and consciously pausing and squeezing your Quad’s at the top-end range to maximise the contraction. . 5️⃣Seated Hamstring Curls: establish a clear mind-to-muscle connection with your Hamstrings as you curl down and squeeze. Don’t use an excessive amount of weight that necessitates that you start using swinging and jerking. This can place you at risk of both lower back injury and also a hamstring tear. Control is key.

WHAT I EAT IN A DAY First Meal of the Day 1.30pm I’ve been loving making these ‘nourish bowls’ of all my favourite things lately and I just mix them up daily (I just got a bit sick of salad) 🥗 now I like to pick.
