Keeping it simple today. Just a window, in a village near Lisbon. I walked a whole lot that day, but I saw a side of Portuguese life that you don’t see if you stick to the tourist areas. From my trip in September, 2018. #shotoniphone #ilovelisboa . . . . . . . . . . #instatravel #lisbon #lisboa #portugal #peopleoflisbon #instafood #instaart #wanderer #streetstyle #streetphotography #shotonnikon #lisbona #lisbonne #street #travelphotography #igersportugal #lisboalive #photooftheday #belem #lisbonportugal #iberia #neverstopexploring #neverstoplearning #santajustalift #vsco #architecturephotography #lisboncathedral #wanderer #architecturephotography #ghost

The beautiful Gothic architecture of the Lisbon Cathedral. September 26, 2018 #shotoniphone ——————————————- Built in 1147, the Lisbon cathedral is a Latin cross building with three aisles, a transept and a main chapel surrounded by an ambulatory. The church is connected with a cloister on the Eastern side. The main façade of the cathedral looks like a fortress, with two towers flanking the entrance and crenellations over the walls. This menacing appearance, also seen in other Portuguese cathedrals of the time, is a relic from the Reconquista period, when the cathedral could be used as a base to attack the enemy during a siege. #ilovelisboa . . . . . . . . . . #instatravel #lisbon #lisboa #portugal #peopleoflisbon #instafood #instaart #wanderer #streetstyle #streetphotography #shotonnikon #lisbona #lisbonne #street #travelphotography #igersportugal #lisboalive #photooftheday #belem #lisbonportugal #iberia #neverstopexploring #neverstoplearning learning #santajustalift #vsco #architecturephotography #lisboncathedral #gothic #wanderer #architecturephotography

Built in 1389, the medieval convent was ruined during the sequence of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, and the destroyed Gothic Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Portuguese: Igreja do Carmo) on the southern facade of the convent is the main trace of the great earthquake still visible in the old city. This is what’s left of it. Lisbon. If you had to read the same two pages, for eternity, what would you pick? One more photo of Convento Do Carmo, and its charming 14th century gothic interior.
