💥Improv Time💥 When a client comes to you with an injury, sometimes you have to improvise. Tyler here has a small fracture in his wrist making it painful to hold weights in his hand. So to aid recovery while still targeting upper body muscles, we ditched the dumbbells and jumped onto the cable machine. Using different attachments we were able to bypass the wrist and keep it safe. As a personal trainer, my job is to find solutions for problems rather than trying to avoid it all together. LUCKY🍍 "Having good things happen to you by chance" During one of the coaching courses I was taking, one of my evaluators pointed out how often I was giving the feedback to players "oh that was unlucky" as if they are in no control to change the behavior or I am unable to give them the tools to find success or change. I took a good long "Huh. Never thought of that." Now when I catch myself saying that phrase, be it coaching, training, or day to day life, I find myself taking a good look at if things are really happening by chance- there are some things truly outside our own control- but more often then not I had an impact on that situation Good- are the positive things in my life really happening by chance? -some maybe but I put in a lot of effort to make some stuff happen AND Not so good- could I have changed the outcome somehow? Little or small the answer for me is usually yes. Your thoughts? What's your take on luck?☘

Here I have Lucas, one of my personal training clients learning how to front squat. This is an excellent compound exercise that really emphasizes the quadriceps. This is also a brilliant assistance exercise for the Olympic movements, the clean & jerk and snatch. This allows the individual to really practice the front rack position, especially for the clean & jerk. A lot of individuals have a habit of pushing the barbell on their clavicle, this results in the barbell pressing onto their wind pipe. As a result choking the person. A great cue to prevent this is elevating the shoulders. A lot of people shrug their shoulders up, and at the same time push their chest up. Try elevating the shoulders and dropping the chest down. You can do this without the barbell to practice. Everybody wants to progress, and how they achieve that is completely up to them!! ____________________________________________ That being said my aim is to prove to everyone that you can get bigger, and you can stronger without having to have anything other than good strong diet!! Admittedly you will never look like Arnold, when you are training naturally... But you will keep progressing!! ____________________________________________ Sometimes we have a training day and we just simply don't want to train... Go do it! It's those days that make the difference, it shows commitment, dedication, determination... and more importantly it is the difference between the person who chooses not to go and train when they told themselves they would. It's what makes "Us" progress "further" than "them"! Does every day count?? In the long term.. "Yes It Does" Every time I see someone who I think is in better shape than me, I ask myself. Holy shoulders 😱 One of the hardest parts for me to “build up” where my shoulders and biceps. In the last I’d hit shoulders twice a week as a solo muscle group and then moved to hitting shoulders when ever I hit arms or back. #vunerability Alert 🚨 I started this journal in June of 2016. This morning I wrote my last entry on the very last page. It’s 8:45 and I’ve already gone through the whole gamut of emotions. I’ve laughed, ugly cried, smiled so much I feel like the joker 🃏😂😃🥺😭 #whysoserious Journaling has become a daily ritual, that has drastically changed my life for the better. Somethings that we carry with us are very hard to verbalize due to guilt, shame, or just not being able to put words to feelings. These difficult things do NOT define us, they are just a part of our story that demonstrate our strength 💪🏻 and resilience. I’ve had moments in my life where my mental health has taken the back seat and it’s been pretty scary sometimes to have read my thoughts during the most difficult phases of my life. I feel #blessed to have an amazing support system of friends and family. They’ve helped me claw my way out of that darkest of downward spirals multiple times and even very recently. I’m still here, and I know all I can do is try my best. TWO YEARS APART. This kind of transformation does not happen over night, and really if I’m being honest I would say that I’m not even done with my “transformation”. Many of you who have see my before and after posts know that I lost a significant amount of weight and fat. After doing so I was left with little to no muscle and a clean slate to start building muscle upon. I’m constantly transforming and changing to look how I want to look. Not how I’m told to look or to fit into any social norm. I am very proud of my muscle. It shows hard work, dedication, determination, self discipline, self respect, and knowledge. I usually direct people to the apps like MyFitnessPal, but some people are more comfortable using a pen and paper. I always ask clients to keep an initial 7 day food/ drink diary. Throw back from my back day last week. These are two of my favorite exercises to superset on back day to really target the mid-back 💪🏼 I also have been doing most exercises in the 3-5 set and 5-10 rep range to maximize my strength gains before I go into my next prep!
