Being skinner /loosing weight will not make you happier if you hate yourself. If you hate your body you will always find fault with it. Even if you loose weight it'll never be enough. I'm not saying people should loose weight - I truly think people should do what is best for them and my first priority is always health but what I am saying is that if people are loosing weight to love themselves, chances are they won't even when they have. . I have been smaller and bigger than I am right now... When I was smaller I didn't feel any different to when I was bigger because my self image was so blurred in my mind... It wouldn't have mattered how much weight I lost I would of constantly have been working towards loosing more or being petrified of gaining some. Its only now I've seen my body at its most traumatised that I realise how wonderful it is (I didn't realise this at the time I thought I looked horrendous after having my son). Sure some days are hard but I went from not being able to leave my house often to travelling alone with two babies! So amazing what a little TLC can do for your mind and body. We cannot overlook how depletion in the postpartum period can impact our moods. I had terrible anxiety after RJ was born and with the help of naturopaths, drs, and postpartum support (there’s lots in Calgary - the resources just aren’t often shared),I feel in a much better place! . . I’ve had a number of friends reach out to me about those early months. The fourth trimester and woah can it be a doozy. I think many of us feel so guilty if we don’t feel the way we’d think we should feel with a new baby. We feel guilty if it isn’t love at first sight in the way we expect it to be and worried if it isn’t all bliss. The reality for many women is things aren’t blissful in those first three months. Hormones, life adjustments and the toll of pregnancy plus sleepless nights and feedings all come to a head. Obviously it’s really amazing too! It is a magnificent experience becoming a mother and I love my babies with my whole heart, soul, spirit and every fibre of my being but, that doesn’t mean it’s not hard. . . . We often forget about ourselves, the newborn mother, in that time. I think there is a shift happening but we forget that our bodies have just grown a human which literally sucks all of your nutrients out of you. I can’t stress enough how important it is to find a postpartum game-plan that works for you. I personally love an integrative approach to post partum care which includes nourishing the mother’s mind and body. We need replenishing. Don’t forget about you mamas. . . Some of what helped me: Nourishing Nettle Tea Grassfed Bone Broth Appropriate supplements for me as suggested by a naturopath Chiropractic Adjustment Post Partum blood work & supporting my thyroid and adrenals Setting boundaries and listening to myself - basically stayed in the first 40 days . . We have discovered the most amazing Fruit and Veg Market near our home, where we love to buy in bulk. However, I find that we struggle to get through that bulk without losing some of it. I’ve done some research on how to effectively freeze fruits and veggies and would love to share this with you in light of today being #mealprep day! The first thing to do is to peel and chop your fruit and veg into bit size pieces, pat dry with paper towel, and spread out onto a baking sheet. The key is to keep the pieces separate and ensure there is as little surface moisture as possible – freeze the baking sheet for a few hours and then transfer the pieces to separate bags or containers as desired. Mental Health Awareness Week and I’m joining in the #bebodykind movement and sharing a time I’ve been confident and proud in my own skin...NOW! 💁🏽‍♀️ 48 hours before arrival (40+12) and 48 hours after 😍 It amazes me what the woman’s body achieves....what MY body achieved! It grew this tiny perfect human, it gave birth to him (and boy, do I know it), and nothing makes you RESPECT and LOVE your body more than that 👶 I’m so happy I looked after this body whilst I was pregnant and can really feel and see the benefits of that now (I’ll share a postpartum body snap at a point when my tits are not like huge boulders sitting on my chest 😂)...If there is ever motivation needed to love my body and be body kind, this is it. There are so many reasons for me to try and be consistent with my training... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But my number 1 reason is my kids. I want to be the best role model I can for them showing them how to have a well balanced lifestyle. Getting back into crossfit after 4 kids is no joke! My body took so long before I felt I could really do the movements I used to. Scaling is still my go to as I opt for intensity rather than standing around trying to get a few reps in, but I'm slowly but surely getting there again. I have to remind myself where I was and how far I've come!! Started my workout at about 6pm today and Elliana had a total meltdown due to being overtired. I stopped my workout to get her to nap on me and told myself I'd workout after she went down for bed at 9pm. . Elliana went down perfectly and it was time to keep my word. In my head I was coming up with every excuse why I would skip my workout and just go to bed. . I almost did. But I was still in my workout clothes so I grudgingly got up and turned my music on. I had to workout out in almost total darkness so neither the fur or the human baby would wake up. I got it done....it may not have been the best workout ever, but its day 2 of setting up a routine to become a habit. . The more I stay consistent with a workout schedule, the more motivated I am to keep it up. Skipping one day tends to lead to skipping two and three days for me. I thrive best with routines and consistency. No matter what is going on....find a way to get things done!

Total gamechanger. This happened. Second time back on the mat. I did it. I almost gave up (for tonight). But I said I'll give it one more go. And it happened. #hollowback 💕 My favorite yoga pose! It was a challenge, no doubt. It's been at least a year since I've done it. But here I am. At 1am. I should be sleeping. Instead, I've been on the mat for the last hour, quietly hoping to get into this pose - however imperfectly. I may not have had a shower today. I may have slept until 10:30 this morning. I may not have really done anything productive today. And my hair may be on the frizzy side... But I did this. And that is victory, my friends. I tried this @enjoylifefoods classic muffin mix and was pretty happy. I would give it 4 ⭐️ I found that the mix seemed quite dry without any added liquid above what the box calls for. I didn’t add more liquid the first batch but I did the second and they turned out to be phenomenal. First batch were apple cinnamon walnut with added ground flax seed and hemp seeds. The second batch were blueberry banana walnut (1 ripe mashed) with added flax and hemp seeds. I love adding walnuts because I love having crunch in my soft foods. The mashed banana made these muffins! But I had to bake them for double the recommended time plus I added an additional 1/3 cup water. But man oh man they are mouth watering!
