Complete proteins and incomplete proteins. So do you know the difference between a complete protein and an incomplete protein? Well each protein is broken down into amino acids and 9 of these 20 amino acids are Essential amino acids meaning that the body cannot synthesise these so they need to be taken in through the food we eat. Once we have these 9 essential amino acids our body can therefore produce the remaining 11 non essential amino acids. A Complete Protein is a food source that contains all 9 of these amino acids meaning that we will receive all that we need. An Incomplete Protein however is missing one or more of the essential amino acids. Foods like Quinoa, Soybean, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, milk and cheese are complete proteins and seeds, nuts, vegetables, beans, peas and grains are incomplete proteins. ⠀⠀ If you are following a plant based diet you can still achieve your 9 essential amino acids by eating a range of incomplete Proteins as combining different incomplete proteins will create a complete protein. ⠀⠀ Are you getting enough Protein and essential amino acids each day to aid your recovery and continue to build your strength in your pelvic floor and core? Comparison. We women are so guilty of it. We see another woman/ mama doing something that we aren’t and we can instantly compare ourselves. . You may look at another woman and think wow she’s really got it together. No she doesn’t. Something I’ve learned- No one has it “all” together. Everyone struggles with something. . May we raise our daughters to be comfortable in their own skin. To cheer others on. To stop and change their thinking when the comparison sets in. . You do you and let your kids be themselves. Round 2 of the 60 Hour Reboot is done ✅ I’m so proud of myself and all of my girls who completed the reboot today. We pushed through and got amazing results 🤩 Although I didn’t gain any weight after last month’s reboot...I definitely felt the bloat from having one too many treats. I like food and I like enjoying life 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 This month’s reboot helped me lose another 5 lbs, lost the bloat and I feel refreshed and amazing! Who wants to join me next month?

Slowly but surely getting to my goals! 😆 I'm about the same weight I was before having baby Imani #baby2 but my body composition is totally different. I HAVE lost a lot if muscle...mainly in the 🍑 butt I have gained more strength in my legs. Starting my new job as a trainer has thrown off my training scedule. I'm working out about 4 days a week and learning to make due with the time I have. I now have learned the struggle most of us have...TIME. But what I've experienced Is, when I don't go to the gym I either sit on my phone for 30 minutes(mostly more)..and feel lazy all day. So making it back into my routine has helped my energy level, and my confidence to get back into it. This really is a journey. You have good workouts...and bad ones...but as long as you get one in..thats 1 step closer to your goal. So no more being hard on myself for missing a day...just taking it 1 day at a time! 💕 I'll be back to making workout video soon. Been focusing on the workouts instead of taking time to film!! 😁

We simply can’t. # The majority of what I see trainers, coaches, and physical therapists speaking about in regards to diastasis recti - abdominal muscle separation - is that we need to stop talking about ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ diastasis recti exercises. Cool. Yes. # The majority of what I see trainers, coaches, and physical therapists speaking about in regards to diastasis recti, is how we don’t need ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ lists because any exercise might work for a person, it simply depends on the strategy around performing that exercise. Cool. Yes. # Mostly, I’m just bored. I’m bored of talking about diastasis recti from a purely physical performance lens. # What are allllll the other reasons that people are fearful about having diastasis recti, other than anxiousness about not being able to effectively do sit-ups? What are all the other reasons people are fearful about having separated abdominal muscles? 🤔 # We are (also) scared about having diastasis recti because that means that our bellies might look a certain way that we believe to be undesirable. Postpartum is, seemingly, a fight against mummy tummy, poochy stomachs, wrinkly skin, and belly buttons that don’t look how they used to. # People want exercises that are not going to make their diastasis ‘worse’. People want diastasis exercises that are going to help close the gap, even if they understand that it’s not all about the gap. Why? Are we really still talking about the exercises here? # We are kidding ourselves if we think people are looking for the ‘best’ diastasis exercises ONLY so that they can heal their belly and get back to their workouts, their sit-ups, or their bootcamp classes. # Step 1: begin to understand how your client experiences their body. So your bowel is the boss! What’s next? World continence awareness week 2019 - tip 2 If you’ve got some dysfunction with your bowel and your bladder ie you have issues with constipation and leaking. You want to spend some time focusing on getting that bowel happy and functioning well. No one likes an unhappy boss! How do we keep our bowel happy? The first thing that can often go awry when someone is leaking, is that they try to drink less water 💦 in an attempt to stop the leaking. Our digestive system and bowels need plenty of water to keep everything moving through, so if you’re not drinking enough, everything becomes sluggish and stuck. If you’ve got a back up in your bowel, you’re more likely to strain to go...which means bearing down or putting pressure on your pelvic floor AND we all know that’s not great 😬. This pressure and bearing down can weaken and cause too much tension in your pelvic floor muscles, which can prevent them from functioning well. Our bladders also like plenty of water to avoid over concentrated urine causing irritation. How to drink more water? Keep a glass by your bedside and finish that whole glass first thing in the morning as soon as you wake. I often have a second before I go out and walk the dog. The rest of the day sip water 💦 throughout the day. Other fluids can count, but depending on what they are they could also have a counterproductive effect! Some other tips for happy bowels: Eat plenty of vegetables 🌶 🥑 🥦 🍆 and some fruits 🍇 🍊 everyday. Whole grains 🌾 Probiotics like kefir or fermented food Moving lots throughout the day - walking is perfect Try to reduce stress

So, this is the last week of my 3 week program... there are double up options and y’all, I LOVE an extra push! I was going to do it right after my workout this morning but the kiddos woke up so I was planning to do it later... - But... my energy crashed...😳 Whyyyy??? I didn’t get enough sleep last night 😬 - I can’t stress enough how important sleep is. Good sleep improves your heart health, hormone health, gut health, and your immune system! Not to get too nerdy on you but even how you eat can be linked to how you’re sleeping... - Sleep affects the hormone that tells us we’re hungry... so if we sleep like crap and not long enough, it might make us crave junk food. And most people might think they’re just losing motivation and just need to exercise even more or cut their calories... or drink extra caffeine, (stop judging the coffee cup in my hand😂😂 To be fair, I never finished mine earlier cuz #kids😂🤪) which makes it all worse 😳 - As you can see, that becomes a pretty vicious cycle that will probably lead to self bullying and not feeling like enough when really, all we need is some good flipping quality SLEEP😴 - Ok anyway... moral of the story... LISTEN TO YOUR BODY😘 And get enough sleep😊💤

I've been doing intermittent fasting (IF)/time restricted eating (TRE) since February combined with a lowish carb (LC) diet (I always say I'm lowish as I find true low carb more difficult to do as a #vegetarian in my opinion). I generally do an 18:6 fast as this suits my life/work balance the best. This app helps track my fasts/eating windows @zerofasting . I used to be an absolute avid breakfast eater and a snacker, having up to 5 "meals" a day. But then my weight was climbing and wouldn't shift, with a 5kg weight gain autumn through to the new year. #tre , LC and semi regular HIIT gym classes have helped me get back to my happy weight at 5kg less than the start of the year 🙌🏻 . Planning to wear a bikini on holiday next month for the first time since pregnancy, so hopefully a wee bit of composition tweaks 💪🏻 (reduce body fat/increase muscle mass), if I can stay away from the beige and sweet stuff in work- I lack #willpower 😂 . Eating 'real foods'/avoiding #ultraprocessed foods has also helped with my #zerowaste goals. Although plenty of fresh foods come #wrappedinplastic at the supermarkets including some herbs/spices. I was asked two separate times with 6 months in between to be a Coach. The first time I said no, and it’s because I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand the potential both personally and financially, and saw it all as an extra to add to my plate. What started out as a small investment in my own health and wellness, has turned into an entirely different life because of this business opportunity. In the beginning it kept me accountable to my own fitness + nutrition. It encouraged me to start positive behaviours such as personal development and mental growth. And to work on my own confidence, expanding my comfort zone, and become someone that I loved more and more everyday. Fast forward 3 years later, that initial $200 investment and a monthly fee of $20 to run a business has been paid back tenfold not just in dollars; but experiences, living MY life how I always envisioned it, and helping others do the same. My only regret is not starting 6 months earlier when I was first asked! It’s never gonna feel like the “right time” no matter what — but you’ll never know how much it will change your entire life until you start. I was lucky, I was told not to lift anything, drive, or exercise for 6 weeks after their c-section delivery. That’s it? That’s all I get? But I just had a major abdominal surgery right??? I didn’t get any what-to-do’s, wasn't referred to a physical therapists or pelvic floor physical therapist, didn’t even know what that was, no follow-ups, no guidelines for recovery, no specific post c-section exercise to follow. Just “good luck, and go home” • Well I’m here to tell you the healing process is NOT DONE at 6 weeks. Not even close. From the outside, your scar might appear healed, but the deeper layers inside the body still need time. The scar alone might not be that deep, but the deeper layers are still recovering • As you can see my scar looks a little funny. Sometimes the scar tissue develops unevenly, hence why the puffiness and tenderness can be more pronounced on one side. 2 years postpartum and numbness on my right side has finally subsided it’s still a little puffy and uneven but I have been doing some scar massage therapy and it’s helped tremendously. All things I wish I would have known early postpartum but I’m grateful I have the knowledge I do now • Think of a C-section as you would a surgery for treating an ACL repair in the knee. Just like that surgery REHAB IS KEY! This age is hard but one of my favorites. . It’s that baby-toddler transition where I want him to be independent and walk, but I also want him to still be my baby. . He also wants to be independent and get into all the messy no-no’s, but he also wants to be held all the time (and how do you say no to that face 😍). . It’s a perfectly dysfunctional balance. 😂

POST PREGNANCY EXERCISE After working out throughout my pregnancy ... I even did a class on the morning of the day I went into labour. Of course every session was adapted to the stage of pregnancy, towards the end just keeping moving & doing light weights. It was more about the impact on my mental state and trying keep those feel-good effects to combat raging hormones & changes in my body. Now that baby Teddy is here, I’m back to it again adapting everything taking into account my c section recovery. I did nothing for the first 6 weeks, after that started to go out walking. Then after 10 weeks I started light upper body weights being cautious of the impact on my core. It wasn’t until 12 weeks after that I started cardio and full body weight training but still taking it easy and was regularly very sore. Now 16 weeks post op, I feel healed enough to start smashing some sessions... tuck jumping, burpeeing and lungeing 💪🏻 I need that time to clear my head, get motivated and re-energise! 🧠💕 @penny_e_weston #happymumhappybaby

Peel open the tape on the brown paper bag like so....”⠀ “Remember the rule... if you bring your hat, you have to hold onto it at all times!”⠀ ⠀ And of course I put his name on EVERYTHING.⠀ ⠀ They don’t take pictures of the kids and upload them to an app like his school does. So I’ll be impatiently waiting here for EIGHT HOURS until I pick him up at camp again. 😳⠀ ⠀ On my to-do list for today?⠀ •Get in my workout before by brain talks me out of it.⠀ •Start his horribly belated Year 6 Shutterfly book (which I normally start in November!)⠀ ⠀ Do you have kiddos in summer camp this year? I was so excited when we got our laminate hardwood flooring but I quickly discovered workout out on them wasn't going to be so easy. I had heard amazing things about @gorillamats so after talking it over with the hubs I ordered one up. Not only does it offer extra protection for our floors but when I'm done with my workout I can roll it back up, put it in its bag and store it until my next workout! I've tried those foam workout squares that fit together like puzzles but they slide on the floor and come apart during your workout but the gorilla mat stays in place and doesn't slide. Me This pass weekend I attended an event, my sister’s baby shower. I made it a point to dress up. I even tried putting on lashes 😂, I haven’t done this in over 2 years so it took me about 10 minutes. It was such a struggle, I must have put them on and take them off like 5 times. I even considered leaving them off. But I was able to get them on the way I liked and have no regrets and they looked so dame good. I had such a great time and saw a few girls I haven’t seen in ages.
