OH MY LANTA this shiz was HEAVEN. πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ€€ make it, homies!! It’s easy, quick, full of veggies and nutrients, and damn delicious. Also picky husband approved πŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½ . -10 oz sweet potatoe spirals (I buy the ones that are already spiralized from my grocery store) . - 10 oz butternut squash spirals (I buy pre spiralized) - 1 onion - 1 cup chopped carrots - 2 -3 chopped celery stalks (depending on how much celery flavor you like) . -1 lb lean ground meat (I used venison but beef or turkey would work too) - 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp chili powder - 10 oz veggie or beef stock - 1 can diced tomatoes . -toppings: diced green onion, chopped cilantro, diced tomato, and cheddar cheese (I left cheese off my serving) . . SautΓ© onion, carrot, and celery with oil of choice until onion is translucent. Add ground meat and cook until no longer pink. Add salt, pepper, and seasonings. Stir in the can of diced tomatoes and chicken stock. Reduce heat to simmer. Add in spiralized veggies and simmer until softened and sauce is reduced (about 10-14 minutes). - top with green onion, diced tomato, cilantro, and cheddar cheese (if you want) . . You ever turn the packaging of a protein bar over to look at the ingredients list and go β€œWTF!”? - The same goes for the nutrition facts. Alot of people make the mistake of looking at the sugar content, for example, and will use that number as the determining factor if the protein bar is good. Stop it!! - You have to look at the actual ingredients! One protein bar may say 4g or 5g of sugar and one may say 13g of sugar. But the one with 13g of sugar may actually be more beneficial for you. - The ones that are "low" in sugar may be loaded with alternative sugars or artificial sweeteners. And you definitely don't want any of that. - And that protein bar with 13g of sugar may have the sugar content coming from the food that is in the ingredients list! For example, Organic Dates or Organic 85% Chocolate Chips or Organic Clover Honey. Now that's where the sugar content would come from and on top of that you get the added benefits of nutrition that those ingredients bring individually. - Quit paying too much attention to the nutrition facts and look at the ingredients list to make an informed decision on whether the protein bar is beneficial or not. Not all chocolates are created equal. The darker the chocolate, the more cocoa solids it contains. And it's in these solids where the healthy compounds are. And real dark chocolate contains a high concentration of antioxidant "flavonoids". - You want to stick with at least 70% dark chocolate. - Other brands of protein bars will use alkalized chocolate, meaning it is processed with any number of agents. This unnecessary process strips the chocolate of one of its major healthy antioxidants....the flavonoids! - Some brands will also add corn syrup or artificial colors and flavors and emulsifiers to try and get that "chocolate" look or flavor. That's just plain nasty if you ask me! Why try and cheat or trick the consumer with fancy packaging but not deliver when it comes to the ingredients? - If the ingredients show "additional cocoa butter" or "cacao liquor", those are more red flags of additional processing taking place. - Barz by BellaLuz protein bars uses 85% dark chocolate. It's real chocolate unlike what those other brands use in their protein bars. - Have you eaten a chocolate bar that is at least 70% chocolate and a regular chocolate candy bar?
