There’s something I want myself to see in this clip, and something maybe you will benefit from seeing as well. This is a moment where my legs are spent. Jelly. You can see in the reps the stability and strength is a struggle. Then there it is - the moment where I will either faint in my mind or decide I can keep going. I physically CAN keep going. Your refrigerator does not have to be a perfect cornucopia of fresh fruits and vegetables. Start small and at the beginning of each week, make sure you have something that is fresh fruit and something that is fresh veggie prepped and ready to go. If you’re like me, this is a better approach to ensuring food is not wasted because breaking the junk food habit can be tough. If I told you the number of times I’ve had healthy ambitions and purchased fruits and veggies only to let them all go bad and STILL consume my prior unhealthy habitual snacks, it would be embarrassing. But it’s happened. So start small, and intentionally eat what you prep. You don’t even have to substitute entirely for your usual junk food snack if you have one...simply eat a smaller portion of it and add fruit or veggies with it. Soon you might choose the fruit or veggies instead. And then you’re on your way to greater nutrition, feeling your best, and maybe even dropping a little excess weight if you need to. #powerfullyhealthy #heathytips #mealprep #startsmall #healthyeating #nutrition

Lower calorie spaghetti 🍝 and to me, an even more delicious dish than the original. Piled under what you see is 2 cups of diced zucchini, sautéed in a pan with chili powder, salt and pepper after the ground beef cooked. Measure out 1/2 cup of ground beef, 1/2 cup of pasta sauce, and top with what is actually 1 serving size on the box label of organic whole wheat spaghetti. Add a tiny bit of Parmesan if you like and there you have it! I’m not a huge fan of zoodles but this has solid bites and real pasta mixed in so it’s a more appealing alternative for my taste. #powerfullyhealthy #lowercalorie #culinaryschooldropout

The Tracy Anderson Method. One of a kind. 🦄 Every class begins with a section of “free” unweighted arms as a dynamic warm-up and gradually progresses to use 3 and sometimes 5 pound weights. This stuff is magical. If you do enough to allow your muscles to get warm and then really perform these moves, it’s like a tension relieving massage that improves posture and emotional health and gives you pretty slim and toned arms as a bonus. I am in love. 💓 Thankful for #tamily and #tamilyfriend encouragers, supporters, leaders, and most of all fighters. Today’s workout took on an evolution of its own. Intending to do the hour MultiTAsk, I finished the muscular structure with legs like jello after doing master class yesterday. But unwilling to stop after 30 minutes, I went back and did the master class arms. This gave my legs a rest and then I was able to do 14 minutes of Tracy’s July Intro to Cardio. All of that to say, if you plan to work out for an hour and find yourself more tired than you thought in some way, perhaps there are other options than to just be done with your workout session. I am aiming to stay with advanced master class daily with multitask substituted a couple times a week, but I am glad I considered creative ways to keep moving instead of just stopping after the 30 minutes of mat work. It’s really okay that it can take time to grow stronger into our ultimate goals for our workout classes. How do you navigate the sugary, chemical-laden options at Starbucks? Have a plan. Drinks can be made to order, specifying how much sugar and how much cream you really want to drink (and even what type). If I’m picking up a beverage and intend to drink it at home, I’ll order the iced cafe americano as-is, no cream or sweetener, and then add my own @nutpods at home. The single most important habit that helps me with weight loss is this: choose a portion of the food I am about to eat that is reasonable for me (an example from my last post would be half of the pizza instead of all of it). Eat the portion, slowing down, and enjoy it. Then WAIT 20 minutes. In that 20 minutes, I end up feeling full because it takes time for our brains to register fullness after a meal. In that 20 minutes, I will inevitably move on to some activity other than my meal. When the 20 minutes is up, if I’m still hungry, I go have more. Nine times out of ten I have saved myself from overeating and I’m not thinking about food anymore. Pizza night! Thin-crust by @caulipowered with shredded chicken breast, barbecue sauce, red onion, pepper jack cheese, and pineapple. The trick to keep this “healthy weight” or even weight loss friendly is to measure and choose your ingredient portions. Light on the bbq sauce and cheese, shredded instead of chopped chicken so a little goes a longer way, plenty of onion and dice up the pineapple so you don’t need much. Choose your ultimate portion wisely - I ate half tonight and put the rest away for leftovers. Yum! #powerfullyhealthy #pizza #weightloss #portioncontrol

There are going to be days when you legitimately need a rest. I rarely plan rest days ahead of time because I always want to push play and confirm that I’m really needing to rest. 4 minutes of dance cardio today and it was confirmed: I’ve worked so hard the last week that today is the day to give myself a break and go walk Reggie instead. Meals like this are awesome if you’ve got a big family (or even just one significant other) to feed in addition to yourself! The reason? You can choose your portions of each ingredient to fit YOUR goals while also allowing everyone else to feel full and happy. Burrito bowls (and my serving size): Long grain brown rice (1/2 cup cooked); organic refried beans (1/4 cup); sweet corn (1/2 cup); black beans (1/4 cup); shredded chicken breast (3 oz); salsa and green onions no limits needed. The only way that has ever worked for me to lose weight and keep it off is to choose foods that are low in their caloric density and supplement with smaller portions of the “tasty but higher calorie” foods. So over the coming months as you see me slimming down, I hope to show you along the way how I’ve done it. This is a baked sweet potato with 1 Tb pecans and 2 tsp of brown sugar (I will add as much cinnamon as I like 😊). It’s a medley of frozen “winter vegetables” because why not, it’s August... (don’t forget to season!) and a wild caught salmon fillet. I buy these individually vacuum sealed and frozen from @meijerstores and they’re so convenient without any other ingredients. Voila! I’m all about easy and yes I went to culinary school. Still doesn’t mean I want a meal plan with elaborate cooking 😉#powerfullyhealthy #mealplan #homecook

Only because @emilyhansen_tam requested it and I’m guessing she thought she’d enjoy a super cool artsy manicure photo 😂💓 but here it is: Today I talked about how self care is an awesome journey because you do one thing for yourself (like #tracyandersonmethod) and you end up inspired to do more things for yourself (like nails 💅🏼) ... Well here’s the deal. I had time today for a manicure OR a pedicure so naturally I went for the pedicure as a treat from the cardio I’ve been doing. But really...DO you all know what Vienna sausages are? I had no idea what they were when someone first mentioned my toes looked like them. I was at my fittest at the time and come to find out my toes are where my “stubborn fat” likes to hang out 😂 So today in the spirit of embracing ourselves in self care AND self love, I give you a far away photo of my Vienna sausages.
