Seeing as this mate of mine is over in Canada living it up, I figured I'd quickly write up a post covering his time working with me; a one year anniversary post 😅 @harry_powerlifter started working with me roughly a year ago. In this time I've seen him make some pretty solid strength gains and gradually start to improve his technique. I'm definitely proud of his achievements and no-bullshit work ethic; he listens, doesn't bitch and trusts in the process which everything you could ask for when coaching. His lifts went from: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Squat: 200kg -> 225kg (sleeves) Bench: 145kg -> 160kg (video) Deadlift: 245/250kg -> 260kg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They may not seem like massive changes to someone who isn't familiar with powerlifting, but to make those strength jumps, drug free and after you've left the novice/intermediate stage as a lifter, is pretty impressive especially considering his bodyweight hasn't changed at all really. Harry didn't have the easiest year outside of lifting I will say that, but not once did he try use it as an excuse when it came to his training or nutrition. That personally motivates me. I've enjoyed every moment of this past year, I even that one frustrated strength coach moment where he completely fucking went off program. I look forward to working with him again but for now I hope he, lives it up in Canada. He's more than earned it. #nwstrength

I’ve been asked countless times, “how do you run at a body weight north of 95kg (200lbs) and not get injured?” As someone who comes from a strength background but would technically be classed as a runner now, it’s always been a bit of a no-brainer to me. Making your tendons, ligaments, bones and muscles stronger via weight training makes them more durable. More durability = much less risk of damage over the long term. A few hours before this, I tweaked my back from picking up a T-shirt from the floor 😂 - In terms of training & exercise, nicks & niggles are just part & parcel of life. If you wait to be 100% for every session, you probably won’t have many sessions. 🤣 - Your perception of pain & limitations can be THE biggest limitation. You tell yourself something will hurt, well guess what, it probably will with that mindset! 🧠

BENCHPRESS felt so good 🙏😍 Did a rep PR @ 100kg 2 sets x3 paused and pressed my official meet pr x1 @105kg. Shoulders moved well without lot of struggle. I wish I knew why some days are less painful than others. Haven’t find out until today. Anyway I‘m happy about this mini little progress. Btw I did another single too & I‘ll upload later 😁 . Seit langem fühlte sich Bankdrücken mal wieder richtig gut an! Warum kann das bloß nicht immer so sein. Bisher konnte ich nicht herausfinden, warum meine Schulter an einigen Tagen besser funktioniert als an anderen. Daher gehe ich auch sehr zurückhaltend immer in eine Benchsession, weil es halt so kommt wie es kommt, so wie es der aktuelle Zustand an diesem Tag dann zulässt. Letzter Warmup Satz war mit 95kg x2, danach folgten 100kg 2 Sätze x3 (beide im Video) und danach ein Single mit 105kg. Es folgte noch ein weiterer Single, den ich später uploade. Triples mit 100kg - kann Girl mal machen 🤓 Baby progress, aber über sowas sollte man sich erfreuen und festhalten.

First of is the zercher squat ! the Zercher Squat seems like a really strange exercise.  St. Louis strongman Ed Zercher created many unusual and cruel exercises and the Zercher Squat is perhaps his most important gift to the world of the Powerlifting.  Zerchers home gym, i.e. his basement, looked more like a junkyard of rack machines and old barbells than it did a fitness gym.  It was here, in this mad lab of muscle, that the Zercher Squat was born.  The majority of power squat exercises require the placement of the barbell across either the back or the front of the shoulders.  The Zercher Squat on the other hand, requires the barbell to be positioned (or held in this case) on the interior bend of the athlete’s elbows, or ‘crook’ of the forearms. This exercise is extremely effective for building leg strength but also produces muscle gains in the back and shoulders, most prominently in the trapezius and latissimus dorsi – your ‘traps’ & ‘lats’ respectively.  It is these gains in back and shoulder strength that ultimately separate the Zercher Squat from all other squats. . . https://b-s-d-gear.myonline.store/
