When you train with us, you will go through a very specific progression that builds a solid foundation for getting strong later on. One those is the “split stance unit”. Our whole goal here is to create instability and then regain it by engaging the correct muscles or patterns. I like this one. Try out this superset! - Superset - 3-5 sets 🏋️‍♀️Pause squats - 5-10 reps 🔹 Same form as a regular squat, but pause at the bottom for a couple seconds. 🔹Start with no bar or very light weight because the added time under tension will really make it hard to drive up. 🔹Pause time depends on your fitness level and weight lifted. I’d start with 3-5 seconds with no weight and then work up from there either adding time or increasing weight. - 🛎 Kettlebell shoulder press - 8-10 reps 🔹Basically the same as the dumbbell shoulder press except the weight will be racked on the back of your forearm. 🔹You can do a strict press up and down or start the bell at your chest, rotate out and then press up more like an Arnold press. 🔹Kettlebells add more of a stability element to the lift and help improve grip strength as the horn on the kettlebells is generally thicker than a dumbbell handle. - PS: I’m becoming obsessed with pause squats because they have a ton of athletic application and they allow you to train legs more often 😁

I used to train at a gym that was on the 3rd floor. I saw people race to the elevator to get to gym. They’d wait long minutes for the lift to arrive but would never use the stairs. One of those people was a nice lady who as soon as she disembarked from the elevator and walked into gym, the first machine she got on was the stair master. And she’d stay in that thing walking up step after step for a good 45 minutes before leaving to take the elevator again to the parking lot. It’s ironic that we pay money for an agency that organizes hikes, so that we can go take a walk in nature. Only a few decades ago, hikes were referred to by our grandparents as “coming back home from a long day’s work on the farm”. In another gym I worked at, members kept complaining about not having a tv screen for every single one of the 20 or more treadmills. Like hamsters they’d get on that auto-moving belt and watch a gossip show, not breaking a sweat, sheer focus on the scandal ahead about a runway model who cheated on her Hollywood actor boyfriend with the neighbor’s 12 year old son who was in a previous episode was seen kissing the actor boyfriend before being caught by the maid who confessed in a previous episode about getting an std from attempted intercourse with the couple’s pet Labrador “Twinkle”. I look around and all I see are more gyms opening up, and in those gyms I see the same recurring pattern: people doing a bicep curl with a 2.5kg dumbbell in the right hand while talking on the phone with the left. What we need is not more gyms, we need a better understanding of what is the true meaning of exercising and being healthy. We need a deeper injection of sportsmanship and athleticism instilled in our culture. We need more support for powerlifting gyms, martial arts dojos, and CrossFit boxes that promote discipline, work ethic, goal orientation, communal activity, and less support for fancy commercial gyms that promote half naked instagram whores with fake butts displaying bullshit exercises on smith machines that they claim gave them that Brazilian butt. #powerlifting #bodybuilding #martialarts #crossfit #lift #power #strength #endurance #agility #dedication #discipline
