I am seriously Lacking some decent nationals video. So enjoy this nice picture of my coach and me as I tell you about my meet! Nationals was good, but not great. There were several firsts! meet squat pr at 125/275!! Also my first time going 3 for 3 in squats! Meet bench pr at 70/154 (something that has been eluding me for much too long)!! Unfortunately, it was also my first time in a meet with an acute injury, which is a crazy mind game! I had been so confident until a week out. Then tweaked my back leaving me with too many unknowns And taking a chunk of my confidence. And seemed to have also taken away some of my deadlift mojo. I Got my dl opener, then missed the next two attempts. It’s an odd sensation when your brain is simultaneously 100% sure you can lift a weight and sure that it’s not going to happen. I felt that way for pretty much everything but my benches. In the end, super happy with my PRs. And super happy to see where the 72kg weight class will take my squats and benches. And don’t worry my deadlifts will be back!! Oh, 3rd overall!! Huge thanks to @falkstrengthandconditioning who put up with all my worries and whining and had confidence when I didn’t! And thanks to @cassidy.dickson.fitness for keeping me fed, though she was probably pretty bored this time around!! And last but not least lots off love to my cheering squad near and far, especially @anhallettne who is always there with cheese to help me in those last few miles!

Silver medal in the 120+kgs Men Master's M1 (40-49 years) division at the @usapowerlifting Raw Nationals 2019. Hats off to @mr.athletic_over_everything for winning the Gold medal. It's always a pleasure to compete with him. But the most important goal that I achieved was that I secured the Master's M2 (50-59 years) berth to represent Team 🇺🇸 at the @theipf Classic Raw Worlds in Sun City, South Africa in 2020 because I am aging out of the M1 division. I was determined to make it back on the World team after missing out on it last year as an Alternate. _ @100poundplate also won the Master's Men M2 120 kgs class. So 2 Hawaiians will be representing Team USA in South Africa next April 2020🤙🏽 _ I went 7 for 9 attempts. Unfortunately I hit a wall and fatigued in Deadlifts. So I didn't finish as planned. I was able to squat 325 kgs/716.5 lbs; Benched 197.5 kgs/435 lbs (missed 210 kgs/463 lbs); and Deadlifted 310 kgs/683.4 lbs (missed 315 kgs/694 lbs). Total of 832.5 kgs/1835 lbs. _ I want to thank my wife @chellezam14 and our daughters Kaiea & Kalani for all their love & support for Nationals. Love you all! _ Huge Mahalos to @animalpak for supporting me as their Athlete on this National stage. ✅ Scapula Strength Gains - 📙: L-Sit into Advanced Tucked Planche - I was previously doing these for a set of 6 as a more dynamic movement but have now progressed to clustering the set into 2x3 whilst pausing in each position for longer. You’ll notice that each rep I take my knees out a little further in search of a more advance tucked Planche. This wouldn’t be possible with a full set of 6 reps, my form would crumble after 3 reps, so we cluster them to maintain repetition quality across the set. - 💡CLUSTER SETS: Cluster sets are a great way to maintain the intensity of a movement without sacrificing form by including an in-set very short rest period. So say you had a set of 8 reps but were using a weight where your 6th, 7th and 8th rep were questionable in terms of quality, it would be more beneficial for you to cluster this into 4+4. Perform 4 reps, rest for 10-15 seconds before executing the last 4 reps. This is also another way to achieve progressive overload. It’s not always about increasing the weight on the bar and running yourself into the ground. Find the most effective minimal training dose for physiological adaptations to occur and remain consistent. Отчёт о выступлении Выступал на турнире федерации WPF ПРОдвижение 2019.Как обычно, гладко все не бывает, за 10 дней умудрился подхватить вирус и слить вес со 118 до 115.На взвешивании весы показали вообще 114,4 кг). Старт был проходной, задача минимум была улучшить свой максимум (211 кг), а, в идеале,пожать 220 кг. В принципе, в этот день был готов на эти 220,но карты немножко сбились из-за задержки потока (почти 30 мин), ну и моего косяка на 2 подходе (215 не зачли), решил не рисковать и в 3 уже собрано зафиксировал вес. Хочу передать огромную благодарность всем, кто меня поддерживал, особенно, респект парням @fedorenko.alexey_ и @alexey_zhuravlev_edinstvenniy за настрой на подходы и подгон пояса). После выступления выпала возможность посмотреть на элитный дивизион по становой тяге, а так же выводил своего хорошего товарища @maksimovsergei101, который поднял очень крутые 317,5 при св менее 90 кг. How better to join the club than with my little girl lifting with me!❤️ I'm sorry I went off program Coach @simmons_strength , but I REALLY wanted to hit it before I go under the knife. 😁 ☠️ Getting to this weight was a really big deal for me personally because it meant breaking through some real mental barriers. I'm 40 years old and when I injured my back a few years ago I reinjured it a couple times after and each time the doctors told me to stop lifting weights. "Just do light stuff to stay healthy." So it was always in my head to only lift a "safe" weight. WELL FUCK THAT! I'm 40, have a janky back AND a hernia and am STILL GETTING STRONGER! #itsallinthehead #40andfierce
