I was going to post about the non-sexy accessory movements I did today, but I think that's a discredit to the RDL. Sure, they aren't as flashy as the Olympic lifts or as impressive as squats or deadlifts (not that my squat is noteworthy right now), but I'm loving the grind. I'm strengthening my weak links and preventing injuries. I'm prepping for faster and heavier lifts on the platform. Bridging is a gold standard for getting the hips engaged and working to control the lower extremity. Again, it is imperative to get them going early and often. The challenge is that usually we like to perform bridging with the knees bent. - If we are creative, we can modify them to make them work with a variety of situations. Straight leg bridges will do the job and can be tolerated after surgery. Also, feel free to use a box if needed. - Also, make sure you use a band or some other means of core activation to ensure that you are performing glute bridges and not a low back bridge. - Proximal stability helps you gain distal mobility. A few hamstring exercises that will leave you hobbling out of the gym 1️⃣Romanian deadlift (RDL) 2️⃣One leg RDL 3️⃣Back extensions ❗️These exercises are also great to strengthen the lower back- make sure you keep your back straight and abs tight without bending over, the moment comes from the hips. Also, the bar should only move up and down, avoid any horizontal movement. Squeeze your glutes at the top.

One of my faveeeee exercises & perfect for hump day 🍑 ⠀ ⠀ Really trying to work on my form whilst maintaining weight during the last week of prep 💪🏼 the gym is still where I have my most energy but it’s definitely got harder. I’ve started to walk myself through a few things before every lift which helps me push through: 🔹 It’s not even heavy!!!! I literally say this out loud to myself and people must think I’m mad 🙈 🔹 One set closer to stage, one set closer to improving 👙 🔹 Get your form right! NERD ALERT! Sorry, but I’m going to geek out here a little bit. This is an ultrasound image from a collegiate freshman Division I soccer player. He “strained” his hamstring several days ago and has been limited by some pain and stiffness. He came to see me yesterday for treatment to get back to practice and ready for the season. - I put “strained” in quotes, because I’m not sure that traditional definitions of soft tissue injuries hold true to what we are seeing and understanding of movement and dysfunction in today’s world. Regardless, he has some nagging pain and discomfort in his hamstring. - The top ultrasound picture is a pre-treatment image. What I want you to note in the image is the fuzziness and lack of clearly defined lines through the fascial layers. If you look at the arrows in the picture, you will notice that the fascial layers are somewhat bound together and fuzzy. Most would define this as an adhesion or even a fibrosis. - If we define what we see in the ultrasound as an adhesion or fibrosis, then the typical treatment would be to “break it up.” This would be accomplished with intense manual treatment in an effort to mechanically deform tissue. I have been guilty of this in the past, but have learned better ways. - The bottom picture is post dry needling. The treatment was very simple. We placed 6 needles in the area and left them there for about 10 minutes. After removing the needles, we took another look with the Ultrasound. - Notice in the bottom picture that the fuzziness is gone and we now have clearly defined and separated fascial layers. This allows for proper sliding and gliding of the tissue. - If this is truly an adhesion or fibrosis, you cannot convince me that dropping a few needles in the area and letting them sit would “break it up.” Stecco would define what we are seeing here as densified tissue. Densified tissue may look and feel like a fibrosis to some but it reacts like normal fascial tissue, which is why needling can affect how the tissue moves. - This is a nervous system response. WE DON’T HAVE TO CRUSH TISSUE TO SEE IMMEDIATE RESULTS!! Use whatever modality you like, but understand that you are touchi

Some of the main factors of hamstring injuries are decreased flexibility, strength deficits and muscle fatigue. There’s videos are several progressions you can use to strengthen the hamstring muscles to help reduce the chance of injury. Continuing to work on ankle dorsiflexion today with Isabelle and Anne. Simple moves like this one improve balance and proprioception, both of which tend to diminish as we age. Today, Isabelle (age 89), progressed to unsupported air squats on the balance pad. Anne (age 67), progressed to a supported, single leg hip hinge on the balance pad. Red light district is near. Walking, walking and walking on the streets ....on the wonderful streets. I love you Amsterdam. Перебралась поближе к кварталу красных фонарей. Даже больше...Я там была, видела девушек за окном или за прозрачной дверью, которые занимаются легальной проституцией. Фотографировать девушек нельзя, так как они могут разозлиться и выбросить телефон в канал или разбить его об асфальт. Расходы никто не возместит. Дадут еще штраф 300 евро. А вообще на улочках не только там, где красные фонари, очень круто. Я сидела на небольшом чердачке возле паба, пила сок рядом с голландской парой и наблюдала. Люди могут просто так пообщаться, даже если они видят друг друга в первый и в последний раз. Никто никого не смущает. Никто никого не осуждает. Все очень разные. Даже, если человек один, то он найдет себе компанию. Найдет с кем познакомиться или найдет с кем поговорить...если нужно. Атмосфера праздника. Даже в более тихих местах чувствуешь себя безопасно. Здесь очень и очень круто. Жаль, что в час ночи мы уезжали и к тому же очень сильно устали. Monday's Hump day! 🍑🐫 . This year's main focus is my posterior chain and of course seeing how much I add onto quads.. 🤗 . Leg Day was one of the best I've had in ages and they should only get better now with a set routine and being happy in my new job.. Less stress, more success! 😂 . Weight has been up and down after a stomach bug a few weeks sorting out life.. Up 4/5kg since my last comp in May, but tracking measurements and strength I'm reallllly happy with progress.. 2.5cm on each quad in a month 💪😍 . Master this to improve your Deadlift and RDL. - The Hinge is a movement pattern that involves the use of the Hip Joint (the head of the femur) with minimum movement elsewhere. - Too many people round through their Spine when performing Deadlifts, RDL’s and KB Swings because they don’t know how to separate Spinal movement from Hip movement. - The Hinge is primarily a movement on a horizontal plane (backwards and forwards) not a vertical one (up and down). - If you’re holding a BB or DB the only reason it goes towards the floor is because your Hip (read ass) goes backwards. - Using a plate can help you resist the urge to round your  spine by encouraging it to happen. - This is called feeding the mistake and is the same principle behind the use of mini bands in a Squat. - The band pulls the knees together which increases sensory awareness of the problem. - This increased awareness allows the client to address the issue rather than remain ignorant of it. - This is my third favourite fix for any client struggling with a Hinge movement. - It’s almost never an issue of tightness, it’s an issue of technique and this is technique practice. - In the long run it can make all the difference to your technique in the Deadlift, RDL and KB Swing family of movements.
