Backoffs of 140kg/308lb for 3 sets of 5. Dialed back the weight on bench a bit to get the proper adaptation and felt much better. Top set of 92.5kg/203lb for 5 reps @ RPE 8. RDL FIX: The RDL is an exercise that primarily involves hip EXTENSION. Naturally you would need flex the knees until you feel a slight pull in your hamstrings before you extend. 1) knees are locked out and the bar is far away from the shins, stress is put on the lumbar spine and there is less mechanical advantage when pulling 2) now the bar is against the shins and the knees are slightly bent . There is a pulling feeling in the hamstrings so the muscles can assist the hip in extension. Increased mechanical advantage and less stress on lumbar spine! 🏋🏼regardless when doing an rdl you should tuck the chin to prevent hyperextension of the neck #exphys #nsca #rdl #crossfit #fitness

Another big day!! Hit two more PRs, and one was on my least favorite workout 😅 These are my top sets: 205x6 front squat, and 275x6 RDL. Let’s talk about accessory exercises! There are so many possibilities when deciding if / which exercise we may choose to use in between lifts. On days where I am working on form in my main lifts, I prefer to choose accessory exercises that help me “feel” what I am most needing to “feel” in my main lift. Here are a couple of pairings of a main lift with an accessory exercise for maximizing “feel” and form! Pairing 1: Split Squat and Half Kneeling Single Arm Press What am I needing in my split squat? My biggest concern in my split squat is the bar traveling in a straight line so I can maximize my strength. I don’t want excessive pressure in my low back and I need hip extension in my back leg to achieve this by getting my pelvis underneath me. I want to make sure I feel glutes, abs, and adductors and that I can allow the femur of my front leg to drive back into the acetabulum. The half kneeling press allows me to focus on hip extension on my kneeling leg (I’m contracting glutes), obliques and adductors on my opposite side (abs will be 🔥), hamstrings as I pretend my front foot is super glued to the floor and try and pull it towards me (this allows me to pull that femur into acetabulum), and finally a reach for rotation of the back hip and thorax toward the front leg. #katiestclairfitness #accessoryexercises #pri #mainlifts #splitsquats #singlelegrdl #rdl #barbellsquats #posturalrestorationinstitute

⚠️⚠️STOP RDL-ing LIKE THIS: Hi friendssss! I wanted to share something that I see EVERYDAY in the gym...and help you fix it. IF you’ve been paying attention, you know there is more than just one thing I’ve been noticing at the gym and on IG. To keep things simple, I’ll just be sharing one at a time😅 - •do RDLs hurt your neck? your back? •do you actually feel your glutes and hamstrings engage through the movement? •are you confused why you’re doing this exercise because it doesn’t seem to be “working”?? - ❗️Watch that your knees aren’t locked, keep your dumbbells/barbell close to your body, and keep a neutral spine; which means no rounding your shoulders, or forcing your head up.❗️ ⏩swipe to see them done correctly! Tbh, I probably could’ve done the *incorrect form* video a bit better(worse) but it was really icky feeling, and I was way overthinking it! - ✨✨Create a soft bend in the knees, sending your hips back as far as possible without lowering them (you’re not squatting). Here you should feel a deep stretch in the hamstrings, now stand up by pushing through your heels and USING YOUR TUSH and hams🍗🍗 to pull yourself up🕴then stop 🛑 standing up straight, don’t hump your weights..aka hyperextend your back (this is a separate video for another time lol). - Oh yeah, and best not to wear shoes with any platform/heel that cause you to rock forward onto your toes. Save & enjoy💛 . . ↠Hip thrusts (15,12,10,8,6) ↠SS (x4) cable machine pause squats (x12) Cable machine rdl with toes elevated (x15) ↠SS (x4) Dumbbell step ups (x8 each leg) (heavy weight, push through heels) Elevated foot pulsing sumo squats (x15) ↠Smith machine reverse lunge (3x10 each leg) ↠Leg press (15,12,10,8) ↠hip abductor drop set (6,8,10,12,15)(start with heaviest weight and increase reps as you decrease the weight)

My face is NOT cute during my lifts.. it’s really just a result of bracing & trying to contract the muscle as much as I can to make it harder on myself. I see a lot of people going through the movement, loading on the weight & powering through. Yeah more weight is cool for the ego but the better quality the contractions you have, the more benefits you will receive leading to a much stronger lift in the future. Try to take down the weight, slow down the eccentric contraction & really ‘feel’ the muscles working. Sometimes I close my eyes to really try & get that ‘mind to muscle’ connection. Today saw the return of the Barbell RDL into my Pull Day ‘2nd’ Rotation. - 190kgs x 6. 170kgs x 12 (not shown). 160kgs x 16 (I blame @lucasgouiffes , as he got 15, so I just had to beat him. - To drive up my pull from the floor, I simply can’t pull from the floor every single session. Physically & mentally I’ll be wasted on that movement. Neurologically I may become very efficient but max effort pulls from the floor every 4 days are certainly not great for consistent overload. Yes, you could argue I could pull sub -max, but meh... who wants to do that when the goal is max tissue. - Chasing down a partner relentlessly in training gives me a fantastic kick. I loved every minute of the session today with Lucas as a result. - The goal for us now is to tweak a few things within consistency of execution on this move, keeping ROM where we want it & not cowarding out of an RDL by simply introducing knee flexion, creating leg drive, more inertia, eventually leading to more loading, but losing the INITIAL primary goal of the exercise (hams glutes...). - If the programme says RDL. We RDL, and we make it as hard as possible. 🔥FRIDAY FUNDAY🔥⁣⁣ ⁣ Sharing with you my & @miss_avsecmasa Day 1 training from this week (week2)! ⁣ ⁣⁣ Today we are doing Day 3 and I will also share it with you during the weekend! ⁣ ⁣ Deadlifting from the floor is the last stage of the progression of deadlift!!!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Two skills are required for good form: a great hip hinge pattern—which transfers the weight to your powerful posterior chain muscles—and a strong core, which keeps your back from rounding mid rep, putting it at risk.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Start with a kettlebell deadlift. Elevate the kettlebell off the ground by placing it on a low box or step, and stand with your groin directly over the handle. “This helps teach you to hinge back and pick the weight up from under you, not out in front of you,”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Once you become proficient in that exercise, try trap bar deadlifts. The trap bar is the barbell in your gym that’s shaped like a hexagon, that you stand in when you lift. “The raised handles make the exercise less of a challenge for your mobility.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There are a lot of other variations of the deadlift that you can use.
