Today I got a great oportunity to put up a healthy boundary. A man was cleaning the gym tonight, and I have never seen him before. Usually there is a very cool, nice lady cleaning, and we always says "hi" and "bye", and then we go doing our own things. She works and cleans, and I take care of my health. Good vibes! But tonight this man was cleaning, and as I was resting in between a legsession, he suddenly waved at me to come. At first I hesitated, like my gut sensed that something was '"off". But he insisted, so after 2-3 waves, I approached him. As I was upfront of him, he asked me to give him his cleaningtool. The tool was literally 1 meter from him, and 3 meter from were I had workedout. How lazy can a person be? I was very surprised by his request and said- "What"? (like 2 times, giving him time to reach for his tool, all by himself, as he is paid to do) He kept repeating his request twice. My answers was- "No, this is your job man". He got pissed of, and grabbed his cleaningtool. I stayed cool, and returned with my legsession. Serioisly, wtf? Ha,ha! I meen, I am there, as a member of the gym, paying to excersise, doing my thing. Selfcare. He works there, getting paid for it. To me that was a very strange request. How lazy can one be? Im very proud of myself, stayed cool, putting up my boundary, placing responsability where it belonged.Yes, Im kind and helpful, but Im not doing others peoples work, beause they are a lazy-asses.🤚 If this would have been happening only a year ago, I would have "giving in" to his lazy-ass request. Not today. Aint nobody got time for that shit, no nore.🚫This is a great proof to me, that my hardwork of putting up healthy boundaries payes off, it works. I stand my ground. Im not peoplepleasing. This month has been a month of physical and emotional detox- a month of cleaning up and moving out items that no longer bring joy or are no longer needed. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve been working through the minimalism challenge and following Marie Kondo’s advice and moving out SO MANY things that clutter our spaces. The change is huge and a number of people have described our home 🏡 recently as cozy and peaceful 🙌🏽⠀ ⠀ It’s also been a month of getting back on track with diet and wellness. We now have a private fb group with experienced, successful people living out a Keto lifestyle. They have not only lost weight, but they have changed the trajectory of their lives ridding themselves of medications over time (with doctor’s supervision) because their bodies are now functioning properly. These are folks who struggled with thyroid issues, digestive issues, diabetes, and so much more. They are now free and willing to share their advice and support with us. The accountability has been such an amazing blessing!⠀ ⠀ {Getting Real Folks}⠀ ⠀ Today... is emotional cleaning 🧹 day. My heart that needs a little detox. I don’t know about you and I hope I’m not the only one with this struggle, DANG, I hate it when wounds from my past burst forth and stop me in my tracks! Today the arrows were flying and aimed straight at my heart. If you’re a spiritual person, you know what I’m talking about. The lies. The tapes that begin playing in our mind to discourage us when we are on the brink of something BIG. Isn’t it just like the enemy to try to get us down right before something good is to happen? ⠀ ⠀ Well- I am thankful for friends who listen through the struggles and OILS that have a powerful affect on our emotional state!! ⠀ ⠀ So often when I’m having an emotionally charged day, I forget to turn to my oils right away. Do what works for you. We all tend to do all the lifting and training, but do you spent time on mobility and reducing soreness or muscle tightness? . . . You probably don’t... neither do I. But 2019 .. twice a week, it’s doing the job for me. 1 long session the day after 3 days of training. Then a short session after the 5th day of training. . . . Anytime Nic had talked to someone about his struggle with #pornaddiction , I would silently feel jealous. I wanted to talk to someone, too! And not just anyone - someone who'd been there, too. Another woman who had walked in these shoes would have been such salve to my wounded heart. 1996 I met @masterhughesmartialarts who introduced me to the world of Chinese martial arts, in particular Praying mantis king fu and Tai Chi, in 1998 I met Dr. Shawn Oldham who taught me Tai Chi and Baqua Zhang, in 2002/2003 I met Wang Shifu who taught me the hard and deadly side of Tai Chi........ In all the years I have studied many amazing arts within martial arts realm, from Arnis to Akido but there is something beautiful about this art and why I am humbled and blessed to pass on this tradition to who really want to learn..... We’ve been exploring this gorgeous landscape over the past week and even though there’s no snow (which feels really strange around this time of year) it’s pretty cold most days. And it seems as if a few seasons coexist harmoniously which makes the beauty more breathtaking and luminous. I’ve been taking it slow this past week, friends. As I continue with my #recovery program, I find myself needing more rest, down time, self care. Even so...one of the unexpected benefits is how grief work frees up space for other stuff. I had grown accustomed to being so tight, jumbled up, full of baggage & unprocessed experiences/trauma. To not saying what I mean. To not knowing what I feel. To not feeling I had a right to feel what I felt. These were all my childhood programs running in the background. So freeing even a tiny bit of space creates vast fields of possibilities. Where even the simplest of things (a moody forest, the way the light hits a leaf, a smile)reveal themselves to be precious jewels right there for the taking. 🔸️2 days ago I tried doing cardio and everything from my knee to my hip was hurting. I was so discouraged and frustrated with myself that it ruined the rest of my night. . . 🔸️Yesterday I spent 1 hour stretching and foam rolling before attempting to do legs and I have to say I was hoping for the best but still scared of how my body would respond. I went through the workout with high reps and low weights in order to be gentle with my joints. . . 🔸️Today everything is sore in a great way! Day 3: helped Mrs. Dot with her home. Build a new back food step, worked on her front and back steps and worked on her roof line. Mrs. Dot who has lived in her home since ‘81 had much more wind damage than rain damage from hurricane Florence, which we have been seeing more of in the homes we’ve worked or drove past. I had to stop running, have surgery, and start back from 0 miles. Yesterday I hit 5.5 and I’m so happy. Foam rolling can improve movement. Here is a quick overview of my 30 minute foam rolling session tackling the front, inside, and outside of the thighs. Next a quick overhead assessment and then foam rolling from the elbow down to the middle of the ribs on both sides.
