The old me would have never gotten up happily to go get a work out in at 5 am. I wasn’t a morning person growing up and definitely not one when I was 291 lbs. I made it to CrossFit this morning and it was the hardest best work out ever! I love to go work out to see what my body is capable of doing in the gym and improving myself. I definitely have areas I need to improve on, but grateful for what my body is able to do. I am also thankful for Mari for believing in me and sharing my story with @willtaylorjr and @_r_a_l_e_i_g_h_ and for my new friend Becky for taking me under your wing at CrossFit. Not only that I got a second work out in tonight after work and learned some new lifts thanks to my new friend Nancy that I meet at CrossFit. The old me wouldn’t even have worked out once, let alone twice in one day. Reps today almost killed me lol. Squat is recalibrated based off of how well things went last week so I’m up 10lbs this cycle. Reps are still a struggle, no excuses. Gotta drop a day of weights and use that for some sort of active recovery/conditioning... Anyways 285X8 which went for way too long but all things aside, things felt good. You can see things get a little loose on a couple but otherwise tightness on the bottom was good πŸ‘ŒπŸ». Followed this pathetic set with 1X50 at 135 for oly stance squats and that pretty much killed me. Wrapped up with some glute stuff and lunges! Things were blown up pretty dang good so you know I had to get that #doucheyselfie in!! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Ž What can I say, im obsessed with chasing them 30’s πŸ—πŸ—, one day I’ll get there..I’m also planning on having a decent squat to go with em too πŸ’ͺ🏻. My biggest priority right now is just assessing difficulty and knowing when to grind, and knowing when to push. If I’m just tired and not mentally prepared then I’m gonna get shit done, if there’s pain or tweaks, I back off and find a better solution. Training at #xconditioning has really helped me troubleshoot, and I’ve learned fear of making shit worse can totally fuck your training right up. Don’t be afraid just be smart, look at the problem and work around. Being a savage is great, being wise will also help you out in the long run. Balance that shit out 🀘🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻. This is one of my favorite exercises to finish shoulder workouts. This dynamic front and side raise forces the whole shoulder complex to be activated at one point or another during the movement. A couple key things to focus on for this exercise: 1. Stop at 90 degrees flexion. 2. Keep the movement slow and controlled, don’t swing the dumbbell’s. 3. Keep good posture. That’s another great aspect of this movement, forces the back muscles to activate in order stabilize you. 4. Feel the burn 8-12 reps will do the trick.
