Y hoy domingo otra gran carrera!! La Rockin Rib Run 10K en la ciudad de Davie, acompañando a mi Endurance @larinber a hacer su mejor tiempo en casi 3 años!! Two factors that increase the chances of achieving a goal are: incentive and accountability. My goal is to win the Run Rabbit Run 100 Mile race next September. The incentive is a $75K prize purse. I registered yesterday and now y’all know it so you can hold me accountable! I’m thinking that money can take my beautiful wife and I to Hawaii next winter! 102 miles this week with one track workout and a long run. Also some strength, flexibility and drills.

Congratulations  to all the marathoners today!! So incredibly humbled and proud that I FINALLY ran a Boston Qualifier out there today! Congrats  to Adam who got his sub 3 hour marathon finish time and Jessica who got an amazing BQ and Brooke who crushed her first marathon like a champ! I think the icing on the cake today was to have my fellow run coaching client and good friend Christine medal me at the end-thank you for that- could not hold back the happy tears after that! I also just want to throw it out there that it took me a solid 3-4 years to get a BQ- sometimes countless failed attempts do pay off (eventually, ha)!

I finally have the energy to post about the Punisher 30k night trail run that I did last night! It took me over 4 hours, and I feel like I should have done better, but I'm thankful it's over! My running coach @therunninguniversity made everyone that trained with her program some nice coasters! I was very happy to have her there at the finish line. 🧠 @perfectstridept is now Certified in Applied Functional #science via the #grayinstitute 💪. It was a great weekend filled with a lot of #knowledge 💣 and I would definitely recommend it those looking to gain a different perspective on movement they can incorporate into their practice. . 💡One of the many main points considered with movement is the notion of drivers. A driver can be any body part (nose, arm(s), hip(s), foot and so on)that is moved to elicit a further effect on tissues. . ✅ So, for example in this video, the hands are being driven in one direction, displacing the center of mass into the opposite direction, the #hips move to maintain stability into this direction. By doing so we are able to create a wide range of effects on the limb starting at the foot/ankle with inversion and internal rotation, the #knee with a valgus stress, the hip with some abduction and internal rotation and so on and so forth all the way up to the cervical spine. We can also use drivers to impart a top down effect, the possibilities are endless but I will continue to work this simple and overlooked strategy into my practice! #perfectstridept #vikashsharmadpt #continuingeducation #learning

My heart is full and happy after this run. It’s been since August that I’ve ran this kind of mileage and it was a piece of cake. I had a little tightness in my hip that I stopped and stretched out at mile 6 but other than that this run felt amazing. It’s crazy how quickly it comes back once you know your body is physically capable of the distance. Mind > Matter ♥️ In my last post I kind of dug into how I’ve been feeling lately and what I plan to do to fix it. Body image has always been a hard thing for me since I was diagnosed with an ED way back when I was 14. Even though I’ve obviously physically recovered, my heart and my mind never fully got over those negative thoughts and the negative self talk still resonates, some times worse than others. Running has always saved me from those harsh words I’ve said to myself and this time is no different. I feel a huge sense of relief and accomplishment after today’s run and I know running will only continue to bring me joy. Half marathon training now and marathon training starting in less than 6 weeks. We took Day 2 of #funwithfiandfabers to one of my favorite trails, Mt Kessler. Fiona and Cathy did a hilly recovery hike. Chris rode, while I ran (stupid 🤚). And #teamninja athlete, Cassie, joined me for the run. I haven’t seen her since #at100, so it was great to catch up again. The weather was drizzly, so traction was a little sketchy on the slick rocks and leaves. But I’ve never not had a good time at Mt Kessler. Let’s talk SHOES: If you’ve been in the fitness scene for long or just dabbled in it, you know there’s a million and one shoe options out there. 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️ My first recommendation is getting a gait analysis done, please. Go to a professional at a sports clinic or running company and get.it.done! This allows you to see what your body does and how it moves in motion! Why is this important? Because depending on how your body moves depends on what shoe is right for you. Activity type also makes a difference in your shoe choice. Are you distance running, sprinting, lifting, doing CrossFit? These activities that require different loads and intensity from your body has an affect on your foundation (your feet). (Also throwing in, if you’re lifting, I’m a huge advocate of barefoot lifting. I’ll make another post about that eventually. 😆🤗) With all the new technology and brands out there, make sure you are equipped with the right tools for your performance, and that should start with what your put on your feet to get the job done. The right shoe can help in decreasing risk of numerous injuries. So tell me, what’s your current fave shoe?? And specify your sport that you use it for. Today, actually the weekend, has been full of great times. #rt66run 5K and today's #halfmarathon brought my best times on both.
