It's supposed to be a rest day, but I needed these miles for my sanity this morning🤯 . I thought once I made peace with my body, my mean girl would pipe down. Instead, she's turned her attention to something new - and honestly, it HURTS WAY MORE than any body-criticizing thought ever did. I've been pretty open on this page with my struggles, past and present, so I wrote a whole post about it - but I couldn't bring myself to tap share. I kept rereading it, thinking about how crazy or selfish or both, I sounded. . It may make it to this page eventually, but today - I ran it out. And I am incredibly grateful to have that option💗

Another blustery cold day 🥶. Thus the indoor picture 🥴. That sun ☀️ though!! So beautiful today. Feeling thankful for 4 easy miles. Lately, I’ve been feeling the anxieties creeping back in. Maybe it’s the season, the piles of endless laundry, the guilt for not getting more done around the house, the panic that I’m not doing enough for my kids, and the worry that something little will turn into something more. Some days I wish I were stronger. That I could handle things better. Maybe one day. But for now, running is keeping me just far enough away from the edge. 2019....Se aproxima una temporada donde la planificación tiene que ser extremadamente prudente. Los compromisos de selección nacional obligan a tener un alto nivel. Tanto los juegos panamericanos a realizarse en #lima2019 y el campeonato mundial en #doha2019 ambas fechas llegarán muy pronto. Se sabe el proceso selectivo para los panamericanos. La #iaaf ya publicó marcas mínimas requeridas para poder estar en dicho campeonato mundial. Esto al margen de las competencias donde la búsqueda de objetivos personales tienen un peso determinante. Aún falta tiempo para conocer quienes estarán en cada uno de esos eventos. Personalmente me encantaría ser nuevamente parte de la selección y seguir avanzando en el camino a #tokyo2020 mientras el tiempo pasa ⏳ y se tiene que dar cumplimiento del proceso selectivo. el trabajo, la motivación, planificación y determinación tendrán que combinarse y crecer día a día hasta llegar al mejor nivel posible. Breakfast accountability. Spinach and poached eggs with a little goat cheese. Yum! I have been eating half decently. Only half. I have been eating decent food, but too much. I’m hungry because I’m healing, but I’m also “hungry” because I’m bored, and tired. I have lots to do, but I can’t do most of it on my own, and I can’t work out. That drains my energy and saps my motivation. I’m exhausted from not doing anything. So, I’m taking control of my food... again. I am happy that I can truly live my life now, and have balance in my food choices. If I want to enjoy some cheesecake when out for dinner, I can. I just need to ensure I balance that by making healthy choices the rest of the day. Starting my day off with a nutritious breakfast and planning an on track day! I’m off to a post op Dr appt, and probably take the rest of the afternoon to fold laundry 🙈. Goals change. Plans change. Be flexible. . When I signed up for another shot at Eagle Up 24 Hour Ultra, I knew my training had to change. My goals were not about speed anymore. My goal is to get to the starting line healthy and have time and miles on my feet (in that order). . It's nice to have dozens of compete training programs at my fingertips. I need the flexibility of choosing the right program but also need the structured workouts telling me what to do and for how long. That always gives me my best results versus just winging it. . I got a taste of lifting again over the weekend and knew that it was right to go back to my favorite combo (lifting and running). Lifting in the morning will allow me to get more miles under my feet vs doing HIIT and being sore from plyometrics. . 2019 will be the best year. Lift heavy and run far!!
