Today’s workout details, but not today’s photo! #tbt to another finish line crossed with my dad this past summer. The weather here in NJ is looking pretty grim and nasty the next few days, so while dreaming of sun I dug up some summer run pics. ☀️ . . . Today’s double header: MORNING: 4 mile tempo. Ran at goal half marathon pace. A hard effort but overjoyed to have actually been able to pull it off with some gas left in the tank. Do tempo runs make anyone else super anxious?? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Esp early on in the training cycle when you might still be trying to figure out if you’ve chosen the right goal race pace. EVENING: 1 hour group strength class at the gym. The class is more of a total body workout focusing on weighted squats/lunges, core work and lots of arms/shoulders/back. 38° what?! Is that for real? I couldn’t believe that number when I saw it. Yesterday was in the teens and today is 38°. It was like summer 🌞. • • • I have been working on my sleeping habits since the new year, and I have made great progress. I used to go to bed around 12:30-1:30am, now, I am in bed by 10pm. It is AMAZING!!! My baby sleeps and I sleep. Due to my early nights, now I wake up early, naturally. Today, I was up by 5am and I was ready to get up and go! So I did the natural thing, I got up and got ready to run 🏃🏾‍♀️ 😂. • • • Nine miles in the bank! It was a weird morning, we almost got run over a couple of times. We ended up on the snowbanks a few times. Between dodging cars and avoiding the ice, we had an interesting morning. Still, that weather was amazing!!!

I was flipping through some old posts and realized I was wearing almost the same outfit 4 months ago. Same top, size large shorts on the left vs. size small shorts on the right. 4 months ago my husband and I decided to change our eating habits for the better. It's not a fad diet or a quick fix but a lifestyle change. The end of 2017 into 2018, I had some personal challenges and stopped focusing on my health. Same old story I am sure many are familiar with, eating out, eating junk and drinking a little too much wine - and not working out as much! I find that I am much happier just eating healthy and getting back into the groove. So excited to see what changes I can make during the #sweat12weekchallenge and in all of 2019. This is my “holy crap I can’t believe I just did that!” face. I didn’t leave myself much time to get my long run in so I just busted it out. It was snowing and warm. Warm being 32 degrees because it’s going to get down to 2 😳 So yeah, 32 is pretty warm. Then I quickly changed and headed to @openwayyoga for a gentle yoga class. It was super chill and stretchy. I was so wiped out that I fell asleep during Savasana. 😴 It was amazing.

This sums up my mentality this week. I had a rough half on Sunday followed by a few days on the treadmill on a business trip. Different climate (extreme opposite!) and treadmill running, which is not my norm. Love my coach - she is amazing when it comes to putting things in perspective for me, and this quote sums it up. Training for a marathon is 4-5 months of work - a single week does not define the cycle. There will be good runs and there will be bad runs. It will happen - there is no maybe. Take it and move forward. Tomorrow is a new day. I am not sure how my days get so busy!? I had an easy recovery run on my schedule for today- I thought...no problem I can squeeze a short run in before preschool pick up 🤷‍♀️ . . Somehow before I knew it I had 27 minutes to get in my easy run 😩 The old me would have thrown on some 90’s hip hop jams, and tried to get in as many miles as I could- and turn my easy run into a harder effort. . . . 🙌Baby steps I didn’t do it- I ran 27 minutes easy and didn’t watch the distance or pace (kept the 90’s hip hop though 👊) Not gonna lie it’s kinda driving me nuts that I cut my run short at 2.96 miles.....BUT I kept it easy- and hopefully that will help me tomorrow when I need to really work!

When I think back to how I used to view exercise years ago 🤯!! . Wow, my perspective and the type of activities I do has changed so much!! I used to think the only way to lose weight and be ‘fit’ was to run miles and miles or go to the gym for hours. In the past 2.5 years I’ve learned that you can get AMAZING results from shorter workouts and portion controlled meals. And best part, I do this all AT HOME!! . Being healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. As long as your doing YOUR best that’s all you can do!! You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone! Make every minute of your day count and you’ll finish your day feeling accomplished. . I am doing a 20 minute workout program right now that seriously burns as many calories as running a few miles would. And this is toning and strengthening my whole body!! There are a ton of things that have changed in my life over the last decade or so…I would love to share with you just a few of them. Before coaching I was super depressed and hated my job because it left me no time with my family. I was unmotivated to workout even thou I worked in a gym. Now fast forward... This business has not only changed my life but my family's life. I started working out at home , eating healthy and I lost 30 pounds. If I learned anything in 2018 it was that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Set a goal, write it down, and do everything in your power to make it happen. I’ve got a bunch of smaller goals and three pretty big ones for 2019. So here they are, written down, to keep myself accountable. 1. Run my second marathon (Toronto, Oct 2019 feels like a good fit) 2. Complete 50 pushups (the real ones) without stopping (currently at 24). . 3. Faster and stronger running. 55min-10k and 2:15-half. I’m 110% committed to being the best possible version of me. I need to be healthy and strong for myself and my girls. There is nothing more important! Running/exercise has ALWAYS been such a wonderful mental outlet for me and a way for me to recharge when I’m approaching my breaking point. The endorphins released combined with the time to zone out (or zone in) is the perfect recipe for creating a clear, calm mind. . . This month marks 10 years of me running 🏃‍♀️ to work (minus a couple mat leave gaps🤰🤱). Even though I've lived in 3 different cities and had 7 different jobs in that span, I've always managed to somehow make running part of my weekly commute 🏋️‍♀️ (and with this exact same backpack with me through it all - thanks @the_omm) 🤗 So for my #10yearchallenge my running views now (2019) and 👉👉 then (2009). Happy Friday eve! I got a couple of runs in this week but it’s freezing cold and I needed a break from the treadmill so I’ve been doing some strength training/weights instead. I restarted Beachbody’s LIIFT4 program this week with Chest/Triceps on Monday, Back/Biceps last night and Shoulders tonight. My arms are like jello now but I’m kind of enjoying the little break from running. I know once the weather gets nicer I will be itching to get out again though. I’m not one of you winter warriors. At some pointe in life we are faced with having to make the right choice even though we don’t want to. I had thoughts that maybe it’s because I ran yesterday and I should have waited another day. I made 3 miles with minimal pain why did the 4 today feel so bad that I had to call for a bail out? I know I can’t figure it out but it’s heart breaking when you love something so much and it hurts so bad to do it.
