I think Real Food in Novena closed down and is replaced by another vegan/ vegetarian eatery so I'm dedicating a post to them. (Although I'm probably extremely late.) The first time I went there I had their Pumpkin pancakes which was only nice because of the Agave syrup ngl since it had the glutinous rice cake texture... BUT my mom absolutely loves the pasta there and we used to have lunch together there quite often because I always wanted to purchase bread/ donuts from the bakery nearby. Glad that this combination goes so well together. 😋 ______________________________ Key ingredients for japanese curry : 🌱 Carrot 🌱 Potato 🌱 One big onion Seasoning: 🌱 2 japanese curry cube (medium hot) 🌱 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce 🌱 1 teaspoon of sugar 🌱 Salt to taste ______________________________ Steps: 1. Saute sliced onion in a pan with 1.5 tablespoon of vegetable oil with low-medium heat for 20 minutes until caramalized 2. Add in carrots and potato and saute for few minutes 3. Pour in water until it cover the vegetables and simmer for 30-45 minutes with medium hear 4. Add in curry cube, tomato sauce, sugar and salt to taste. Then simmer for another 15 minutes. 5. Heard the news a few days back that @soulveggie.sg is going to end operations after 30 April, to be taken over by another vegetarian company. With that in mind, here’re my final few dedications to this only other vegetarian Korean food company apart from boneless. . Featuring the kimchi stew, which I really enjoyed because of how much ingredients were added, along with the pretty flavourful homemade kimchi x purple rice x cinnamon soup 🥣 (an acquired taste). Don’t we all wish we have the best of everything so that we don’t really need to make that ONE choice? Well, I do. . . I find this a lot in baking or when I bake. Just a bit of everything to make the best out of everything 😅. After ogling at mouth-watering peanut butter chocolate desserts on IG, I finally made these for the first time. And you know me, I don’t really follow recipes faithfully so I “mutated” this well-loved dessert with a mix of peanut butter and sun butter, and replaced the maple syrup with homemade organic coconut “syrup” (which took me about 25min to simmer and thicken). . . 生日大餐 {Part 3} - with baba 💖 Original plan to come here was on the actual day (with my bro too) but 計劃總趕不上變化 so we had to cancel it (which i was initially okay with, then i got a bit sad about it after a couple of days haha). After I came back from Cambodia baba asked me if i wanna go for lunch - so i said yezzzzz. The food here is on the pricey side (like $20+ onwards for mains) and not so worth it for vegans i feel, altho the menu is definitely vegan-friendly, with vegan options and also onion/garlic-free options. If i had known vegan without onion/garlic means no cheese (the menu did say vegan cheese available tho so idk why no have sob) and hummus on my pizza then... I wouldn't have chosen it, really. We had the beyond burger with truffle fries, Kashmir pizza (crust is great) and vegan brownie with coconut ice cream. 6/10 overall 😊 My dad told me after that he didn't get why i came to this restaurant to eat bread lol he would have opted for pasta instead (but he neh say hor he ask me choose) so maybe if anyone is interested to go, opt for the pastas! 😚

My new discovery that macaroni and cashews actually taste good together. Well they kinda look similar too. Mini meatless char siew pot pie in the house. 😋 ______________________________ Ingredients  A: 🌱 240 cc water 🌱 45g vegetarian oyster sauce 🌱 30g tomato sauce 🌱 100g sugar (or less depends on your preference) Ingredients B: 🌱 60cc water 🌱 35g corn flour 🌱 15g all purpose flour Other ingredients : 🌱 1 tps sesame oil 🌱 1/3 cup of fried shallot 🌱 1/2 cup of chopped king oyster mushrooms 🌱 1/3 a cup of chopped lion mane mushrooms 🌱 3 instant puff pastry 🥚 Egg yolk or 🌱maltose syrup or 🌱agave nectar _____________________________ Steps: 1. Boil 240 cc water in a pot, then add in ingredients A. 2. Mix ingredients B in a separate mixing bowl 3. Pour ingredients B into the pot when the sauce is rolling boiled and continue to stir until the sauce is thickened then reduce heat to low 3. Add in fried shallot and sesame oil, continue to stir until they are well mixed 4. Set the sauce aside and let it cool down 5. In a separate sauce pan, stir fry chopped mushrooms until they turned golden brown 6. Mix the sauce and mushrooms together 7. Wrap your fillings with puff pastry according to the way you prefer and apply first thin layer of egg wash 8. Preheat oven at 200°c, then bake them for 10min 9. Apply another layer of egg wash and bake for another 10-15 min 10. RECIPE: 🍢VEGAN TEMPEH KEBABS 🍢 From @eatsbyshak Oh look, here’s another food that i’ve never tried before because i’ve never been able to find a vegetarian version of it! HAHA! I had a ton of leftover tempeh and decided to make my own kebabs, and i totally get the hype because these were freaking gooooddd here’s the recipe: ~SAUCE ~ 1. heat 2 tbsp of peanut butter in a saucepan with 2-3 tbsp of water, stirring constantly until it melts 2. add 1 tbsp of coconut cream, and 1/2 tbsp soy sauce and simmer for about 2 minutes 3. remove from heat and add a squeeze of lemon juice and some chili flakes ~KEBABS~ 1. soak some wooden skewers in water for at least 10 minutes (IMPORTANT: you don’t want your oven to catch on fire do you) 2. chop up desired veggies into slices (i used onions and tomatoes but some other options are: bell pepper, carrots, broccoli) 3. steam tempeh for 5-10 minutes 4. dip ingredients into sauce and arrange them on the skewers 5. place skewers onto a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes at 170°C ENJOY! The bibimbap remains my favourite dish. YESSSSSS ITS #wafflewednesday !!! Easter 🐣 had past but here’s a throwback to Easter-ish food that I didn’t post during the day itself. . Featuring carrot 🥕 cake 🍰 ice cream with generous amounts of actual carrots, a strong ginger-ish festive flavour, and nice crunchy walnuts, placed on the fluffy soft cakey (v)affles, that rests above a comfy bed of peanut 🥜 butter. 📍Sutera, JB 🇲🇾 this shop took over Isshin Veg located near Sutera Mall and we happened to visit it on its 2nd day of opening 🤣 Their menu was pretty limited then (refer to story) (not sure if the menu has expanded) with only rice bowls for mains, sides and they also have Miao Miao pizzas. We got a rice bowl (rendang fish mixed w hometown curry as they had run out of ingredients; Rm9.90), pandan chicken side (Rm5.90) and an Otah pizza (think it was ~Rm20) to share. Food was alright but they seemed inexperienced - which is understandable given that they had just opened, so hopefully the dining experience one would get has gotten better by now! (As well as the food quality and variety) on a side note, I wish Isshin Veg did not close 😩😭 miss their handmade pizza and sushi, claypot rice!

😋Hmm those lovely holes tell me my sourdough micro-communities were happily having their meal which comprised organic rye, stoneground whole wheat, semolina and whole meal flour. Unlike the usual rye bread, this beauty only has 10% rye (60% whole wheat, 7% semolina and the rest wholemeal) but gosh the smell of rye is just... beyond what words can describe. It’s just so 😌 I love sourdough. Thank you Mother Nature 💚🌷🙏 . . The best part about homemade breads is how simple it is - no leavening agent, stabilizers, emulsifiers, whatever supplements etc (it really irks when I pick up a packet a bread from the supermarket and see that long list of whatever). Just eating from Nature. Breads can easily be baked with just flour, water and salt, occasionally good quality fats/oil and herbs, nuts, seeds etc. . . No honey in this vegan rye bread! Thank you Kristen for sharing your lovely recipes! —— #repost @thetastyk ・・・ Have you ever tried making a #vegan eggplant Dragon Roll? 🍆🐉🍣 If not, this delicious miso-marinated roll will take your plant-based sushi to the next level! 😍🥑 Super simple to make, with an incredibly juicy texture and some cajun spiced surprise on the inside! 🍙 Who would try this? —•—Ingredients—•— 200g sushi rice 350ml water 4 Tbsp rice vinegar 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp maple syrup Miso-Eggplant: 1 long eggplant, sliced into strips 1 Tbsp maple syrup 1 Tbsp miso paste 1 Tbsp sesame oil 2-3 Tbsp warm water Filling: 1 small cucumber, julienned 1 small carrot, julienned 1/2 avocado, sliced Cajun cream cheese: 1/4 cup tofu cream cheese 1/2 tsp cajun spice —•—Method—•— 1.Cook your sushi rice according to instructions on the package and let cool down. 2.Slice the eggplant into thin strips. Preheat your oven to 175° (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small bowl, combine sesame oil, miso, maple syrup and warm water and mix until dissolved. Place the eggplant sliced on the baking sheet and brush both sides with the marinade. Place in the oven bake at 175° (350°F) for 10–12 minutes on each side (be careful not to burn). 3.Prepare the veggies for the filling. Slice the avocado thinly and cut the carrot and cucumber in slices. 4.Take half a nori sheet and place it on a bamboo mat. Place 1/2 cup of the sushi rice on top and gently press down (wet your hands for easier handling). Carefully turn the nori sheet around so the empty side looks up. Add the filling ingredients (carrot, cucumber, avocado, cajun cream cheese) and use the bamboo mat to roll up the sushi roll. 5.Take the baked eggplant slices and spread it on top of the sushi roll. Use a piece of plastic film to cover the roll. Use the bamboo mat to gently press the eggplant in shape, then remove plastic foil and cut into slices. —•—•—•—•—

vegan cauliflower tots!!! Headed to herbivore with my mom sometime back and introduced her to vegan Japanese cuisine!! She was pretty impressed by the quality of the dishes, though I think I should’ve gotten sushi as well. . Tried my first vegan unagi Don (and first vegan don), where the unagi is made from lightly pan-fried triangular tofu, then drizzled with Japanese sweet-soy sauce, arranged atop a fluffy bed of sushi rice 🍚 . My mom had the vegan bento 🍱 set with rice 🍚, miso soup 🍲, tofu x vegetable stir fry (the ultimate Asian comfort food), potato 🥔 salad and well-seasoned, fresh and crunchy vegetable salad 🥗 . Vegan cappuccino on a wet Singapore afternoon ☔☔

Vegetarian Mediterranean Restaurant, vegan options available (Menu attached). Mezze Platter - A selection of Middle Eastern dips: Hummus, beetroot and walnut dip, capsicum and almond dip, Falafel balls and pita bread. Kashmir Pizza - vegan cheese, hummus, onion asparagus, tofu and cherry tomato with tandoori sauce👍 It was my first hummus experience and I was blown away by it. Excellent hummus and out of this world falafel😍. Sauce and topping on Kashmir pizza (vegan cheese) was good but the crust didn't really impress me. Well again, taste is subjective. Definitely coming back again to try other dishes❤

I dont quite know how I feel about it. Lots of people rave about the impossible burger, personally I would choose the beyond meat burgers over the impossible ones. I didnt quite appreciate the texture and taste, I wont be going for seconds on the impossible burger. Quite honestly, I prefer the vegan burgers at Real Food or at @hansimglueck_singapore made from plant-based ingredients.
