Snack duty. It’s norm that I’ve come to detest. Mostly because of all the junk that is handed out after every game. I don’t know when shared snacks after kids games became a thing, but they never were when I was a kid. You played because you wanted to play and were rewarded with a hug, high five, kisses, “good jobs.” I now embrace my snack duty as a chance to lead by example. . 7 and 8-YOs and even younger only burn about 150-200 calories during an hour of sports. They might loose some salt and electrolytes if it’s hot. Giving them sugary treats after every game is counterproductive. Kids need proper fuel to perform best, replenish and keep their blood sugar intact. Fruit and water is the ideal after game snack. Fruit is packed with colorful carbs and water. . If your little has lost a lot of electrolytes from sweating, unsweetened coconut water is the perfect refresher. @nuunhydration is also great. Their little bodies don’t need artificial sugars or food dyes to make up for what they lost and help them keep growing. . So join the party and be a healthy snack advocate. The kids will be just as happy eating bananas with individual notes. Here’s a super easy, delicious and nutritious breakfast… 💫 Eggs would have to be one of my favourite foods to eat in the morning… I find when I eat eggs in the morning Im less likely to snack during the day... You will need: 2 eggs & 2 egg whites whisked with salt and pepper I cup spinach 3 mushrooms sliced ¼ red onion diced ½ bell pepper. I used ¼ red & ¼ green diced 6 asparagus spears ½ medium avocado diced 1. Lightly spray large skillet on medium heat with olive oil and add asparagus for 4-5 mins till softened and remove to the side. 2. Add peppers and onions to skillet and saute for a few minutes and remove to the side.
 3. Pour egg mixture into the pan and tilt so the mixture covers the base. As the omelette sets, use a heatproof plastic spatula or flat-edged wooden spoon to gently lift and stir, tilting the pan so uncooked egg runs underneath. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until golden and just set underneath. The top should still be slightly runny – it will continue to cook after you fill and fold the omelette.
 4. On one side add cooked peppers, onions and add spinach and mushrooms, once you’ve added the fillings, lift one side of the omelette and fold it over to enclose the filling. 5. ⁣ 🍿CINNAMON POPCORN 🍿 ⁣ ⁣ Popcorn has to be one of my most favourite snacks as it takes minutes to make, it’s actually healthy (yes, I’ll explain why) and it’s so versatile 😋 ⁣ ⁣ So how is popcorn healthy???⁣ ⁣ A cup of PLAIN popcorn contains only 31 calories. They also contain LOADS of fibre and is the only snack that’s 100% whole grain. And whole grains are really good for you because they contain those antioxidants. Ounce for ounce, popcorn has more protein and phosphorus than potato chips. (And more than eggs and spinach!)⁣ ⁣ I know the recipe looks complicated but I promise you it’s not and with this recipe you will get perfectly popped popcorn with no burnt or leftover kernels 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾⁣ ⁣ INGREDIENTS⁣ ⁣ ▪️1 Tbsp coconut or peanut oil⁣ ▪️1/3 cup of high quality popcorn kernels⁣ ▪️1 tsp cinnamon ⁣ ⁣ Toppings: I added my homemade fudge, malteasers and dark chocolate sauce⁣ ⁣ METHOD⁣ ⁣ ▪️Heat the oil in the pan⁣ ▪️Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil. Wait for the popcorn kernels to pop.⁣ ▪️When the kernels pop, add the rest of the 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels in an even layer.⁣ ▪️Cover the pot, remove from heat and count 30 seconds - THIS BIT IS CRUCIAL! ⁣ ▪️Return the pan to the heat. The popcorn should begin popping soon, and all at once. Once the popping starts in earnest, gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner.⁣ Tip: As the popcorn pops, try to keep the lid slightly open to let the steam from the popcorn release⁣ ▪️Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl.⁣ ▪️Add the cinnamon and mix. Expressing my love for nut butter and apples with a great big heart ❤️ I love this as a snack anytime... that includes in-between adventures, during late night movie sessions, or even after a long day of studying. It is a much healthier alternative to a fudge bar or cookie, but there is nothing wrong with those foods! As long as you enjoy them in moderation, then you are creating balance. Personally, I never crave a cookie, but I do crave snacks like this! An obvious tip is to search for a nut butter that is minimally processed and has simple ingredients. I am always advising my clients to eat with the seasons.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This seems obvious, but many women don’t always realize the “why” of this.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For one, nature provides us with what we need at the exact timing we need it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Take tomatoes for instance (almost done now in the northeast). Sure they are high in lycopene, an antioxidant, but we also obtain a lot of water from the plant foods we eat. Tomatoes are 94% water.
