Basic equipment for training, it’s all in how you apply the training. Speed sled drags provides you the fiber twitch that’s needed to perform at your peak! Is it slow or fast twitch? For me it serves two purposes. One the physical need to perform at my peak. Second it conditions my spirit to endure. This is one of those workouts that you can apply to life, how much weight are you dragging behind you? What is holding you back from becoming your best? TRUTH ABOUT CORE TRAINING BY @ericrobertsfitness Training your abs in the sense of crunches, sit ups, and side bends, is long gone. Is there a time and place for these exercises? Idk sure if you wanna do them that bad. But your core is meant to stabilize you. Your core is meant to protect your back from injury. Your core is meant to brace and hold strong. I give the analogy of an unopened soda can (or beer but we all know how I feel about that). If you try to dent the outside of an unopened soda can, there is too much pressure built up inside. You won’t be able to. It’ll bounce right off. That’s what you should think of your core as. You should be able to build up pressure, brace, stabilize, and protect yourself against the load you’re using. Example of these would be dead bugs, side planks, regular planks, pallof press. ⚜️𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙 #2 ▫️ ⚜️The second contrast method I am going to show you is also known as the French Contrast Method, which originates from the French sport scientist Gilles Cometti. ▫️ ⚜️The French Contrast method is when load or velocity is changed during each rep of a set. ▫️ ⚜️The reasons for this include targeting multiple different types of muscle fibers, as well as different neurological and physiological adaptations. ▫️ ⚜️We are basically trying to have our cake and eat it too, shooting for the best of both worlds in all regards. ▫️ ⚜️There are a couple of basic ways to do this. ▫️ ⚜️𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: The first involves changing the load of the same exercise as the set progresses. Let’s use the bench press as an example. If your max bench press was 300 pounds, maybe you would work up to a heavy double at 280 pounds. Immediately after the second rep, you would drop down to 185 pounds and perform 3 more dynamic reps as fast as possible. ▫️ ⚜️This gives you your max effort slow speed strength, but also allows for speed strength work in the same set. ▫️ ⚜️𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙚𝙩: How I typically program the French Contrast Method for clients is by using different types of movements that train the same muscle groups in the same set. ▫️ ⚜️Let’s talk about the squat pattern. Getting kids bigger, stronger and faster is awesome BUT the best part about training young athletes is teaching them how to harness their minds and be mentally tough. Training teaches work ethic, (and i mean REALLY teaches kids how to work HARD) and discipline. That hard work and discipline builds confidence and character. These are lessons that stay with young people through their entire life. Listen, the overwhelming majority of kids aren’t going to play professional sports or even play collegiately. They are ALL however, going to become adults out on their own in society. I take great pride in helping young people develop a champion mindset so they can succeed at whatever it is they end up doing. This is much bigger to me than just slapping some muscle on little Johnny and sending him on his way. Week 13 Day 2 ▪️ Bench Press: 6x2 @ RPE 9 (worked up to 295) followed by Log Clean + Strict Press. Empty log as I'm new to the movement and I wanted to dial in the mechanics. I am still very restricted going overhead with my right shoulder so that's why these look a little wonky. Had to catch a flight so I couldn't finish all of my lifts but I wrapped it up with triceps, back, and core. ▪️ I have been enjoying this dry, cool Nevada weather so it'll probably be like stepping into the world's largest outdoor sauna when I get home. Nevertheless, I'm excited to be back for a while before I leave the H for good 🥺

OSTEITIS PUBIS (ATHLETIC GROIN) IN ATHLETES – A THREE PART SERIES PART THREE . We’ve come to the end of our OP series and it’s time to introduce some of the exercises we prescribe to our athletes and how they incorporate these in to their weekly rehabilitation plans . BARBELL NARROW SQUAT . To maintain lower body strength without the shear forces felt at the pubic symphysis, we use a narrow squat. The position of the legs reduces load through the groin/adductors but still provides the athlete with a stable base to lift from . BELLY BULGES . To develop intrinsic pelvic strength through the stabilising musculature, we incorporate breathing exercises such as the belly bulge. The idea of the exercise is to expand through the Transverse Abdominus (TA) when the athlete inhales. This will provide awareness in the pubic region and is the starting point prior to moving in to more advanced intra-abdominal stabilising exercises . SLED MARCH . The sled march provides the athlete with a movement training / gait re-education exercise that also has proprioceptive feedback from the belt. After performing belly bulges, the belt incentivises strong intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) during the march. This helps align the pelvis and provide a stable base for the body to move off . These are only a few of the many exercises we will program for our athletes. All athletes experiencing OP present differently, so tailoring the exercises, duration, intensity and frequency is an important skill for our coaches.

Do you find yourself putting off or skipping gym sessions because of a lack of time? It’s all something we can relate to, some days you’ve just been so busy that you really struggle to get the time. There are 101 other things you could be doing with that 60 or 90 mins - When you skip sessions, you feel guilty, become demotivated to train and fall into the spiral of thinking what the point of even continuing your efforts - If you think you don’t have time to train, that is a lie. Everyone has the same amount of time in the day. The problem is whether training is a priority in your life at the moment - But, there are some things you can do to make the process easier so when you do get to the gym, the valuable time you have isn’t wasted - You don’t need to think that you need to be spending 2-3 hours in the gym 5-6 days a week to get in shape. In fact, for many this may be counterproductive - Instead, decide on a realistic amount of days you can train, pick which days these sessions will fit into your schedule easier and have a plan when you get to the gym - As a coach, I am conscious of and respect that people have busy lives outside of the gym. That’s why I design all my 1-1 and Online sessions to get the most out of the time available. From choosing the exercises that are going to be most “bang for your buck” to grouping exercises together in a particular order and having a pre made plan before you step into the gym.
