Day 3 of The American Adventure consisted of an early morning sprint to Boston Common from our @airbnb to grab the walking tour of Boston with Caitlin from The Histrionic Academy in Boston; She was SO good; entertaining, funny and loads of knowledge about the city! After that we found a @cheersboston and had a quick munch before embarking on the @bostonducktours which was our first land and water tour and a lot of fun with ducks and boiling teapots, bridges and a green baby 👶 🍼 ! After this we took public transport and a stroll down to the Pier to get a complimentary trip on the Ferry to Charlestown to see the USS Constitution and See/Hear the 6pm Lowering of the Flag and Canon Fire, we passed other boats in the Harbour that were just beautiful up close! Sleep trouble? Good sleep requires a vigorous metabolism and a normal body temperature (98.7 F). However, the stress of aging and stress in general decrease the metabolic rate, lowering body temperature and increasing stress chemicals, thus disrupting sleep. However; there are simple tips for countering these effects. Considering the relationship between cortisol and glucose (sugar) and sodium (salt) and adrenaline, these simple nutrients can be used to treat stress induced sleep problems. In essence, glucose suppresses cortisol and sodium suppresses aldosterone and adrenaline, aka they stop the stress response. So it seems logical that a simple carbohydrate (ideally sugar like honey, sucrose or maple syrup over starch than starch) and salt before bed can greatly minimize the stress chemicals that interfere with good sleep, namely adrenalin and cortisol. If you suffer from #insomnia or #sleep problems, try a mixture of grass fed milk, raw honey, #ashwagandha (also lowers cortisol) and pinch of good salt to ensure a good nights sleep!
