Choice Time! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What is choice time? Everytime you are given free time, you have a choice of what you want to do with it. What you choose to do, is what makes the difference! Sure you can lay in bed, binge watch Netflix, scroll mindlessly through social media! But you could also spend that time taking care of yourself (maybe a nap !), practicing a hobby, or actively trying to heal. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ At a college meeting yesterday, I was told "You're paying for the resources and opportunities at college. You are not paying to nap." Sure a nap is needed every once in a while ! Self care is allowed ! But if you fill your spare time with activities you enjoy, clubs, education on topics you wouldn't learn about in school or at work, healing will come a little easier. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When dealing with my own bits of depression, I tended to lay in bed all day, sleep a lot, not get what I needed to done. Sometimes the bad guy will win, and that is ok. 🦹‍♀️ _____ I grew up absorbing Disney movies like it was my life blood. The difference between good and evil was always stark, and you could guarantee that the protagonist of the story would walk out victorious. I always saw myself as the protagonist of my own story - the good guy. And like any normal story, I have villains. _ These villains take many different forms: sometimes they are people, sometimes they are thoughts and sometimes they are vices. I dedicated myself to fighting those villains, truly believing that I would beat them with enough faith, trust, and pixie dust. I learned to control vices like my compulsive shopping by staying disciplined and sticking to a clothing rental service (@nuuly is amazing). I am still in the process of learning how to be more cognizant of my negative and pessimistic thoughts. And I worked hard to fight those human villains through communication with outside entities and leadership, believing that if I made my issues with another person clear, they would act as my Fairy Godmother and zap my issues away. _ But this doesn’t always happen. And yesterday I found myself abandoning my kingdom (a job I once loved) while my villain still held the keys to the castle and went out of their way to remind me of that. They won, I lost. _ But you see, I’m not sad. Sure, justice wasn’t brought to my villain, but justice was brought to myself. I made the decision to leave a place I was comfortable with because I knew I was not happy and nothing else could be done about that. Because when you are the protagonist of your own story, you need to do whatever you can to write your own happy ending. Nobody else will do it for you. And I was not about to wait in an ivory tower to be rescued. _ I rescued myself by walking away and letting my villain win. _ I am so excited to spend the next few weeks before I start my new position learning how to love life again, rekindling my happiness, and resparking the flame of an industry I was once so passionate about. I am taking back the pen and paper. The next chapter of my story will be mine and mine alone - and I think it will be the best one yet. 👸

Fermarsi! 📌Una parola molto semplice, ma una cosa non sempre facile da fare. 🏃‍♂️Viviamo in una società in cui si dice “chi si ferma è perduto”!! Corriamo, corriamo...siamo sempre all’inseguimento di qualcosa. E nel frattempo? Quante cose ci perdiamo? 📍L’altra settimana, prima delle ferie, facevo una seduta con una persona che sto seguendo. Nel fare il punto del lavoro svolto fino a quel momento, questa persona mi dice che si è “fermata”! Per la prima volta nella sua vita ha spostato il focus della sua attenzione: l’ha rivolto verso se’ invece che concentrarlo su tutto ciò che la circondava e quindi sulle cose che faceva. Ha anche aggiunto che, paradossalmente, aveva fatto molto più per se’ stando ferma, piuttosto che stando sempre in movimento. 📍Non fermarsi mai permette di “non sentire”, non provare sensazioni spiacevoli. Tanti sono tentati a farlo, così non sono tenuti a fare i conti con quello che stanno provando e a cui magari non trovano soluzione. Ma allo stesso tempo perdono il contatto con loro stessi e così si illudono di “evitare il dolore”...sì, si illudono perché stanno solo rimandando qualcosa con cui, presto o tardi, dovranno misurarsi se davvero vogliono stare meglio. 🔎A qualcuno è mai capitato di desiderare tanto di rilassarsi fermandosi un po’ e una volta fatto si è ritrovato con un gran malumore? Se non addirittura a #piangere? Se la risposta è sì, non vi scoraggiate: fermatevi e concentratevi per sbrogliare la situazione che vi sta dando pensiero! ⚡💦💗 Yesterday's workout was awesome and called Fight Club!!! I always love these ones because they really allow me to work off any #stress and #frustrations. I can't wait to do it again next week 🤛! . I must have slept super weird last night. I woke up with a pinched nerve or something down my side under my rib cage and am having trouble moving around without pain. I am taking the day at home to rest and I'm hoping the muscle relaxers will kick in soon. . My #goal is to still try and do a little bit of #yoga tonight in the hopes of stretching things out. . I also made #alfredo noodles last night for dinner with #zucchini and it was amazing!!!! . I love living a #healthy lifestyle, it really does make me feel my #best 🥰 . If you don’t know, there is a really good application for mindfulness out there called Headspace. For those who like free, there is more than enough, but it has so much more than that. The idea behind Headspace is to help people to slow down, take a minute from the busyness of life, and reduce stress, improve relationships, as well as improve physical health. These are a lot of great things for a clinical counselor who wants to help someone find coping skills for themselves (and all therapists should be aware and at least have practiced the techniques) but I think this also has an application for all Christians. If you are on the receiving end of support (like me) does bio mom hold up her end of the deal by being responsible and paying her portion? Whether that be monthly child support or even medical bills incurred. Are there things she pays but refuses to pay? And what do you do when she doesn’t? How do you respond? And how to you agree to disagree with your husband? I’ve experienced much in this area over the years, and have slowly learned to let go - not easy when you’re being wronged. But I’ve also learned that there are times when the stress that comes from this dynamic is not worth your sanity or your marriage. I still struggle. Mommas you already know!!! It’s been 15 years since I’ve been able to cross the street without holding someone’s hand. It is so engrained in my kids that even my 12 year old sometimes still reaches his hand out like, “ok let’s go.” I’ve never been a hand holder or a hugger. Before children the concept to me was bizarre. Uninvited touching... NO THANKS!!! It’s funny to me now because I can see God all over it. He placed me in a roll that would be required to hug, hold hands, kiss boo boo’s and have someone in my lap 24/7. 😂 two of my children are major huggers. 🙄 so we hug it out. To this day I don’t enjoy hugs but the thing to remember is the HUG isn’t about you. When we hug someone there is a transfer of energy. You can absorb someone’s energy or give some away. If you really think about it you can feel the transfer. Like, have you ever hugged someone and fell completely into them? Felt safe? That’s the transfer!!!! When your baby comes to hug you it’s because they need your energy. As you know a hug for most kids is a game changer. Touch is so important as humans. We need it. You need it. Looking at the @omegawave or other HRV software its a great tool to use to monitor daily readiness whether your improving or doing too much in regards to your performance and recovery. Monitoring resting H.R and CNS is something you got to consider. Some coaches tend to think that just listening to the body and AUTO REGULATING each day is whats best for them and just doing that will work. Thats all great but how do you truly know your resting H.R etc is, without using software. I always say its like lifting weights or going for a run with a blind fold on. You can feel the resistance or like your moving somewhere, but how do know how much weight your lifting or where your moving too and how this is effecting your body. Highly recommend this software.
