This is longer than anything I usually post, so bear with me here... When my alarm went off this morning, I almost turned it off and went back to sleep. I’ve been #marathontraining since January, I’m exhausted. I was going to use the fact that my race is only about 2 weeks away as justification for skipping this morning. But then I remembered the tank top I had laid out to run in this morning: “Compete every day. Your life is worth it.” I’ve come too far in my training to make excuses and sell myself short because “I’m tired.” I’m trying each day to be better than I was the day before. And so I got out of bed, put on my clothes, and headed out the door for my muggy 6 miler in this morning. I’m tired and sore, but I’m also satisfied that I didn’t let my desire to lay in bed longer get the best of me. Just because I feel some kind of way in a given moment doesn’t mean this feeling gets to take my focus away from my goals. The Tuesday night double... I missed a Monday yesterday, with feeling pretty exhausted by evening, and spring allergies kicking my bum. But, back on track today with a really good swim: 4x50 w/u, 2x500, 4x50 c/d. Then, a solid 4 miles on the treadmill at home. It's looking like indoor workouts the rest of the week, with winter returning and dumping a bunch of s*!# on us tomorrow night and Thursday. Maybe the forecast will be wrong, in a good way...🤞#doubleworkout

Alright get your readers ready. 🤓 Lots going on today... First, pic 3: I was getting ready to run, and grabbed my Valhallas since I just got new lenses for them under warranty. Thanks much @goodr! But, I put them on and they were foggyaf! W the actual f? Oh, there were those protective peely things still on the inside... Oops. Wasn't part of the install instruction video. 🤷‍♂️ Second, pic 1: I had a really good run today. The weather was gorgeous, and the trails (congrats on your 50 yesterday @ultrarunner.lisa!) were finally clear of snow and ice. Thank you spring. Third, pic 2: I had a pretty good swim, too! Tight shoulders and I think too much swim volume overall had me not feeling great about getting the laps in. Thanks @mattengstrom for your swim technique tips to help me swim easier. Finally, pic I don't remember: brewed a batch of beer tonight, for the first time in a long time, to celebrate #nationalbeerday. I think that covers it. 😅 #sundayrunday #sundayswimday

HOW MUCH WATER DO YOU DRINK? 💧 . If you are exercising, you need to increase your water intake to make up for the fluid you lose when you sweat. It is IMPORTANT to drink water in a regular intervals BEFORE, DURING and AFTER exercise session. . 🧂Drink 0.5 to 1 ltr of water, 2 to 3 hours before you start exercising. . 🧂 Drink 300 ml of water, 20 to 30 min before you start exercising. . 🧂 Drink 200 to 300 ml of water during exercise. . 🧂 Lastly, weight yourself before and after your workout and drink that additional for each kg you lost during your session. . 20 miler ✅ Now it’s #taper time!! Less than a month left until #silodistrictmarathon2019! In regular Texas weather fashion, we had warmish temps and humidity at the start 🥵 and then crazy winds 💨, rain 🌧, and a 10+ degree temp drop 🥶 in the last half of the run. It was great to run with a new crew, all of whom are running the #londonmarathon2019 on the same day as my race! They’ve always been quite a bit faster than me for these long distances, so it was awesome to get the extra push, especially with the nasty weather. Just squeaked that one in... My watch started yelling at me for low battery just after a mile in to my run. Shady run... Actually it's pretty gorgeous outside for the first run of spring. The week of slow shuffle walking through theme parks have left my legs feeling kinda heavy, but any time I can get out for some miles in shorts, I'll take it! No swim, no bike, no run. Focused on maintenance tonight. I've been ignoring a bit of hamstring tightness for a few days, and last night during my run it started out pretty sore. So tonight it's a bit of yoga, regular old fashioned stretching and core: 3 rounds of 10 moving planks, 20 reverse crunches, 30 crossover mountain climbers. #stayhealthy #stayhungry #restday
