At the tail end of my 4th week of being sidelined by a 10mm kidney stone and sepsis, I am FINALLY reaching the finish line. Still a bit of soreness but I’m mobile, I can actually DO THINGS without pain. Last night was the first night I slept all night without waking up because of discomfort. Monday I hope to start back to slowly rebuilding my structure and strength. SLOWLY. . . Meanwhile I’m replenishing my healthy gut bacteria that was wiped out by antibiotics as well as my electrolytes. Besides full fat Greek yogurt, I also had bananas - which are a great source of potassium! . . So today, I had three over ripe bananas that needed to go in a bread. So...Voila! . . On the left is me back in August. I had gained a few lbs and was getting ready to gain my standard winter weight, feeling miserable and angry. I want to say thank you. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for being the most incredible cheerleaders. Thank you for being there through all of the ups and downs. In honor of this, I decided to do some self-reflecting via my old posts just to see how far I’ve come over those 4 years. Then, I decided to share that self-reflection with all of you. I posted them to my story, like a timeline. A collection of my “greatest hits” and my lowest lows. — The responses I’ve been receiving since have completely blown me away and brought me to tears more times than once. But there is one tiny tidbit of one in particular that I would like to share... — “...now I have a renewed passion for my recovery” ✨ — THIS. YOU GUYS. THIS IS EVERYTHING. This is why I’m here. This is why I share my story. This is why I am never ever going to stop. After this process of reflecting over my own journey and getting the incredible feedback that I did, I have also renewed my passion for recovery. — If you haven’t check it out yet, there is a “My Story” highlight on my page. What are you training for? •• As I mentioned a few nights ago, I love getting this question because I love my answer. But this question also is great because it really makes you stop, reflect on what you’re doing, and think about where you want to go. So, I want everyone to stop right now and truly think of their answer to this question: What are you training for? Once you have it, comment it down below if you feel comfortable👇🏼But if not, at least keep it trained in your mind. And if you don’t know yet, seriously take some to reflect on it. Is it internal, something deep inside of you, or more external, such as appearance or weightloss? If it is external, there is nothing inherently wrong with that. But my hope is that somewhere along the process, you find something deeper to fight for in your journey. That you fight for you. To become stronger, healthier, happier. Whether you’re training for a competition or just for life, find something inside yourself to train for so that when external circumstances don’t necessarily go your way, you still have your purpose. •• I’m not an athlete in that I compete in anything, but I sure as heck push myself train like one. Why? Because it’s what I love and it’s what I want. Every day I’m training to become a better version of myself😈 and my hope is that you too eventually get to a place where you train and do what you do in order to become a better version of yourself every single day. Even if you do compete, allow yourself to train for that sport because it betters you every single day. And also realize that’s going to look different on everybody and that’s okay. My best version and what I do to get there is different than yours which is different than a mom’s with two kids which is different than your 80 year old grandma’s. Find what you want in your best self, and then train as hard as you can to get there. So that the ultimate answer to “what are you training for” can be short and sweet but oh so important: yourself❤️

NEW BLOG. "I don’t suffer from anxiety and to be completely honest, I find the term—more accurately, the label—to be overrated. Anxiety is not a synonym for stress, sad, overworked, tired, or irresponsible. They might lead to anxiety but they are not the same. Buckle up, I’m about to ramble. This is a difficult topic to articulate my thoughts and beliefs because it’s so complicated. Don’t come to me telling me you can’t workout because of anxiety if you don’t plan on having an in-depth conversation and creating a plan to overcome this obstacle. Don’t tell me you can’t stop eating the fridge at 9pm every night because of anxiety if you don’t want to talk about the why and how to stop. Don’t tell me you didn’t get the job or the promotion if you don’t want to take a look at your work ethic. Are you upset yet? People fight against heart disease, against asthma, against diabetes, against celiac. They fight against cancer. If you’re going to claim a label, at least also be a fighter. So I posted a poll earlier today and a lot of you wanted to see me posting more workout related content. Here's a few clips from my glute workout today. -------- Warm up- Single leg hip thrusts - body weight 2 sets, 10 reps each leg (Glutes will burn like a mofo) . Barbell hip thrusts 5 sets, 8-10 reps. Focusing on time under tension as I didn't have my bar pad so couldn't go as heavy as I'd usually like. This exercise is an absolute MUST if you want to grow/shape your glutes. . Dumbbell Romanian deadlift 4 sets, 10 reps. 2 second eccentric (negative, on the way down), 1 second concentric (positive, on the way up). . Dumbell step ups 4 sets, 10 reps This is a unilateral exercise so is awesome if you have imbalances. Most of us do, my left glute is a lot stronger than the right, as you can see in this video. --------- The rest of my session wasn't recorded (phone died) but ended with --------- Cable pull through 4 sets, 12 reps . Hip abduction (machine) 4 sets, 12 reps . Hamstring prone curl 4 sets, 12 reps 1 set, drop set . Finisher: Walking BW lunges, 100 reps These are an absolute killer!!!! But amazing.

Throwing it back this Thursday with some major Bali blues 🌴 Not one of my average recipes, but thought to do a tbt and put a face behind the bakes, as I forget you guys don’t know me at all👩🏽‍🍳 . . This photo was taken last July in Bali at an Elephant Sanctuary which was soooo much fun, anybody going Bali this Summer (I’m sure plenty) has to add this place to the agenda! The elephants were so friendly and skilledd, you could bathe and feed them etc. . . I was in Bali with friends for 1 month on a Psychology mental health placement, with a company called SLV Global, and it was such an amazing experience! The best bit was definitely the people we met out there, the locals are so friendly and welcoming, and getting experience and travelling around Bali was defo the best of both words! . . More often than not people are too intimated to leave the comfort of the “cardio zone” and go over the the weights (where real progress is seen IMO) - I was that person for a long time, I was terrified of “muscle heads” and people judging me for not doing something right. - I can PROMISE you, that no one is looking at you and judging. Everyone is in their own zone and doing their own thing. Just walk over like you own the place and start doing something. 🤷🏼‍♀️Fake it till you make it amirite ladies? (and guys too) - Expect for the occasional grumpy old man, I’ve never had anyone be mean to me in the gym, everyone there is on the same mission to better themselves. AND WERE DONE!!! That’s a wrap on first year Well... kinda anyways! I have 3 spring courses but what can ya do? Lol Tbh I still don’t feel like I can breath until I get today’s mark back! My anxiety is running wild and I’m terrified I didn’t meet the 71% pass but I’m trying not to think about that and catastrophize everything The friends came out for dinner tonight to @sugarbowlcafe and I had a burger and yam fries AND a giant freaking cinnamon bun (swipe) The guilt is killing me rn but man I was living and it was goood!! Balance focused leg day coming at ya on this beautiful Monday!! This is an oldie because today is an unplanned rest day Ngl it’s been really hard to not work out today but it still hurts to breath from my asthma attack yesterday and I’m so sorry from the meet so 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess I should probs listen to my body and rest But still I’ve eaten ALLL DA FOOD today 🤪🍰🥗 had 5$ lunch at my clinical which was no joke the biggest and cheapest meal I’ve ever had (peep the story that was ALL 5$ 💸) But now I’m at home studying and full AF trying to push aside the guilt and be productive but I’m not gonna lie ITS HARD Anywho here’s the leg day: ⚡️TRX split squats 4x10 per leg (@heather.lifts this was bomb) ⚡️overhead squats 3x10 ⚡️ cable squats 3x10 ⚡️ leg extensions 4x8 SS squat jumps ⚡️ balance board squats 3x10 This was such a different workout from what I usually do but it was so fun and really challenging 💪🏼 anyways my study break is done so time to hit the quizlets 📚 happy Monday my dudes
