Today was day 1 of the newest program I have started. 20 minutes allowed me to bust out my work out and get it done with. 20 minutes of leaving me feeling like I just spent an hour in the gym. 20 minutes of using nothing but me leaving me drenched in sweat. My nutrition is a working progress.... I'm only humans and broke down and had a couple cookies tonight. But tomorrow is a new day and I will try again. That is one thing I'm focusing on in this round. To better my eating habits as I have been a little laid back in the food area. I once got told that putting your trainers on is the hardest part of doing exercise... that may be true (& some days I truly dread getting outdoors into the cold) but I never regret it! Today I was SO cozy tucked up in bed, I was under a soft duvet with one of my girls, covered with a fluffy blanket, reading a good book... all snuggly! It was windy today & I was stiff from the gym on Friday... but 4 miles later & I feel on top of the world... ready to cook a family roast & enjoy Sunday with my fab family. Week ONE & DONE 💪 • I am already done with week one of my new weightlifting program! First thing I want to say is that I’m really sore. There is no sugarcoating it! Jumping straight back into a hard-core program after three weeks of not working out is hard. Right now I am still waddling like a duck from leg day on Thursday. • Personally, what I like is that it simple. The moves are simple, their affective and you work your butt off for 30 to 40 minutes. And the best part? Is that it’s only four days a week. I don’t feel like right now at this phase of my life I can commit to working out six days a week so this program is perfect for me right now where I’m at. Also, right now I just don’t work at the weekends I, want the flexibility of an extra rest day & this is exactly what I get. There is even flexibility the mill plan and you’re allowed a treat/cheat day, but right now after my holiday indulgence, I am pretty determined to stick to the meal plan. This ain’t going to be easy. But I WANT to do it & stick with it • It’s very humbling to feel like you’re starting back at the beginning. I put on weight over the holidays & I lost a lot of my strength so right now push-ups on my knees are a real struggle & I can’t do the full set. But it’s something to aim for! • I’ve got seven more weeks left and I am very confident that this is going to be the transformation that I need right now. I want to get back to feeling strong, toned and in control of my nutrition. I know that my body responds well to weights, so I am excited for the transformation and recomposition of my body that’s going to happen. • Of course, I will be sharing my journey with you all & progress❤️#sweatygirl #myjourneytofit #50lbsdown

Ready to CRUSH today! . . Confession: As a child I HATED exercise! I never really enjoyed recess, was only on sports teams because my parents signed me up for it and because I felt like it was expected of me. . . Middle school is an awkward phase to begin with and my experience was no different. I only played sports because it was mandatory by the school. I am so not hand-eye coordinated and I hate looking stupid in front of others. . . I was a diver freshman year in high school, but didn’t enjoy it enough to continue. It was far too competitive at that level, and it was too late to try anything new. . . Fast forward to my twenties, I decided I needed to change and started going to the gym. But I have never really known what to do when I’m there. I walk around aimlessly pretending to know what I am doing and being super intimidated to try new things. I have tried countless programs, numerous diets, many the latest and greatest fads, but nothing seemed to work for very long because I never really enjoyed it. It always became more of a chore than something I actually enjoyed. . . Until now. Yes, some days I am still sore and tired and would much rather sleep. But now I actually LOVE my workouts. I love how I have so many different programs to choose from. How I am not doing this alone and instead have an amazing group of women who are doing these programs with me! How we make it fun with daily check-ins and challenges! How my program rewards us for completing the programs and hitting certain goals! . . So if you are at all like me, someone who could never find a sport or workout program she actually liked. Someone who doesn’t like to workout but wants to. Someone who is ready to change but might not know how. Someone who needs support from others and loves having fun...let me know!! How to prepare for a hot yoga class (the yoga formerly known as Bikram) 6 years ago today, I stepped into a hot yoga room for the 1st time & it was love at first sweat drop. It’s become my happy place, my drug of choice. You’ll often hear me say that I’m going to sweat out my bad decisions. And I’ve probably asked you to come to a class with me. Hot yoga is always a great decision. The benefits are insane! Weight loss, mental well being & glowing skin to name a few. 26 postures, 2 breathing exercises done exactly the same every time over 90 minutes, in a room heated to 105F, w. no music. I promise that at least 1 point in class, you’ll wonder wtf you’re doing & why tf you’re there. It’s encouraged that you don’t leave the room, rather sit/lay down on your mat. It’s normal to feel weird & weird to feel normal. I promise that if you stick with it, it becomes so much more than just physical exercise. Stepping onto a mat is like going to therapy. You start to realize the things you do, the postures, the challenges that show up in class are very similar to what’s happening outside the room. First class: -Stand in the back of the class to watch. The teacher doesn’t demonstrate, but will lead you by dialog/verbal cues through the sequence. If you’re not able to stand in the back row, make sure you’re not right in front of someone else. You need to see at least a sliver of yourself in the front mirror. -Bring enough water to last 90 minutes (I often freeze some water w. electrolytes) -No one is there to take your picture for the cover of yoga journal, so let go of your ego & just do what you can. Everyone has a first day. Sit/lay down if you need. -Wear workout clothes. Men wear shorts or even speedos. Women will wear yoga pants, or shorts, tank tops or just a sports bra. I still can’t believe that this new program is a 20 minute total body workout and this who started are seeing INSANE results!
