Handprint Masquerade Masks 🎭 My students had asked to put on a ball next week for our last week of school. So I made a suggestion and asked if they wanted to do a Masquerade Ball. They had no idea what it was, so I looked it up for them. They were mesmerized! They quickly agreed, and we decided to begin our mask making! I loved doing this with the kids because all of their masks were so different! All different sizes and shapes and designs. It was great! (Not all designs are shown). -- This activity helps build and develop skills on fine motor, following directions, problem solving, curiosity, engagement, inquiry, and self expression! -- #teachersoinstagram #instagramteachers #teacherssupportteachers #openloops #thatteacherlife #iteach #teacher #teachers #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers #earlychildhoodeducation #ece #cyc #educationfunguide #masquerade #handprintactivities #masqueardeball #mystudentsarethebest #diy #fun #learning #plasp #tdsb #tcdsb #education #writingabook #resourceguide

@buggnout.ca - If you have #lice you probably won’t exhibit #symptoms until weeks after contact because it takes the nit or egg 7-10 days to hatch, then another 10 days for the nymph (baby louse) to mature into an adult. A female louse will lay about 50-100 eggs throughout her lifetime. . . . . . . #headlice #licefacts #liceremoval #allnatural #nontoxic #licetreatment #parenting #headlicetreatment #headliceremoval #healhymoms #pesticidefree #strandbystrand #louse #nit #torontolife #lifestyle #parenting #vaughanmoms #vaughanmomapproved #kidsinvaughan #vaughankids #torontokids#tdsb #ycdsb #vaughan #toronto #thornhill #woodbridge #richmondhill

And don’t forget the liquid nitrogen ice cream 🍦 a favourite thing to make during birthday celebrations held in our makerspace! . We love this quote pulled from an article that @steam_labs published about the benefits of spending summer break at a community Makerspace - this is really what it boils down to. #makereducation presents so many opportunities for young people: . 👋 hands-on experiences that encourage learning . 💡inspires interest in and exploration of new concepts . 🤖 enhances creative & critical thinking . 🍎reframes failure as progress . 👾 real world application of concepts . We’re pretty stoked to have @steam_labs running maker birthday parties and summer camps out of our 1803 Danforth location! Check the link in our bio to learn more about them!

To follow up on the previous post: practice should be more difficult than a game. Don't be lazy, academically or on the court. It will cost you in the end. Be coachable. Hussy fits, complaining about referees or teammates and generally putting the blame anywhere but yourself is NOT a good look. #ballislife #ballinthesix #hailstate #adidashoops #torontotriplethreat #ontariobasketball #maizeandblue #re2pectaboveall #threestripelife #shehoopsnetwork #shesmypointguard #playlikeagirl #oregonducks #goducks #staygold #basketballmom #gobruins #toronto #oregonstate #cal #tdsb #tcdsb #acc #bigeast #big10 #bigten

WHAT SOME WOMEN'S COLLEGE COACHES ARE LOOKING FOR Curtis Loyd – CSU-Pueblo “What I look for is toughness, competitiveness, playing hard, and a high motor. Number two is their skill set; have they tapped out, have they plateaued, or do they have an upside. Are they using their weak hand? Do they know how to pass to the post? Number three is their attitude. A player’s energy is very visible: how are they on the bench? How do they react by being coached or talk to? What happens if they don’t get into the game? How is their body language? Are they talking to their teammates? Fourth thing is basketball IQ: Can they think the game during the game? Do they understand the strategic component? Lastly is defense. That’s something you can see right off the bat, are they talking? Do they have good feet? Are they going to get the ball? Do they box out? All of that stuff.” Kelly Roysland – University of Minnesota “I look for players who are good communicators and highly vocal on the court. Coachability is necessary. I look for a high standard of work ethic, players with a high motor who work both ends of the floor, and versatility on the floor.” Kate Popovec – Northwestern University “Obviously for us academics determine if we can even recruit them. We want clear and consistent communicators on and off the floor. I know the [recruiting] process is overwhelming, and it’s appropriate to tell a coach that you cannot talk a certain week; texting and calling back matters. If you’re uninterested in a school it’s okay to say that as well. We want goal oriented kids with a strong sense of self who fit well into our culture. It takes a certain type of self awareness to be successful at a program like Northwestern. And honestly—just kids you can tell WANT to be a part of your culture. Players who are interested and hungry to better themselves and a to contribute to a program.” #ballislife #ballinthesix #hailstate #adidashoops #torontotriplethreat #ontariobasketball #maizeandblue #re2pectaboveall #threestripelife #shehoopsnetwork #shesmypointguard #playlikeagirl #oregonducks #goducks #gobruins #toronto #oregonstate #cal #tdsb #tcdsb #acc #bigeast #big10 #bigten

All eight (8!) Kindergarten classes at my school celebrated the first day of summer with play day today, spending the whole morning playing outside. ☀️ I planted myself in the garden with some digging tools, seeds, spray bottles, magnifying glasses, drawing materials, and digital cameras. It was wonderful. ☀️ There's so much to love about opportunities like this, where kids get to choose where and how and with whom to play. ☀️ I love this photo that a Kindergarten student took today, and I hope we all have bright, colourful, sunshiny summers. ☀️ . . . #tdsb #playday #kindergarten #kindergartenteacher #teachersofinstagram #outdoorlearning #takemeoutside #art #sunshine #summer #firstdayofsummer #summersolstice

As summer time is nearing parents and educators begin to wonder “how are we going to keep the young peoples minds fresh and not lose what they just spent 10 months learning in school ?” Diversely Creative has customized quarterly kits that progress with the child! “As a deaf person who grew up in Pakistan with a family who is hearing, I struggled a lot, especially in my education...” --- “As a deaf person who grew up in Pakistan with a family who is hearing, I struggled a lot, especially in my education. When I was young, I had a hard time communicating with my family. I couldn’t speak; I tried to use gestures to make them understand what I was trying to say, but they couldn’t understand. When I was a kid, I barely learned anything in school because I couldn’t hear what the teachers were saying and they didn’t help me. They didn’t teach me reading, writing or math in class. I left school, giving up my education because I didn’t understand anything on my own. My family asked me, ‘What’s happened to you?’ I didn’t say anything to them; they didn’t know my struggles. When I was a teenager, I wanted to move to Canada so I could get a good education and I told my family about it. They wanted me to go to Canada and study step by step. I moved here four years ago and I have been learning English since I arrived. I am glad I enrolled in school and continue to improve. I am not giving up this time.”
