St Mark's Campanile is the bell tower of St Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy, located in the Piazza San Marco. It is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city of Venice. . The tower is 98.6 m tall, and stands alone in a corner of St Mark's Square, near the front of the basilica. It was begun in the 10th century and completed in the 12th century, but its pointed roof and gilded pinnacle weren't added until the 15th century. On July 14, 1902, it collapsed into the piazza in a heap of rubble, smashing the Loggetta at its foot but causing no casualties. By 1912, it had been painstakingly rebuilt to its original 98.6-meter height. . Each of the five bells of the campanile had a special purpose. The Renghiera (or the Maleficio) announced executions; the Mezza Terza proclaimed a session of the Senate; the Nona sounded midday; the Trottiera called the members of the Maggior Consiglio to council meetings and the Marangona, the biggest, rang to mark the beginning and ending of working day. They are tuned in the scale of A.. . . . . . . . #tripotocommunity #wonderful_places #photooftheday #traveladdict #travelblogger #traveller #travelling #globetrotter #letsgosomewhere #wanderlust #travelblog #exploretheworld #exploretocreate #beautifuldestinations #mountains #exploremore #neverstoptravelling #neverstopexploring #roamtheplanet #igworldclub #lifeofadventure #artofvisuals #travelgram #instatravel #photography #travelphotography #moodygram #travelbug #sony #sonyalpha
