🎬 Some days you just don’t “got it” in the gym. This could be due to a number of external and internal factors such as lack of sleep, bad nutrition, improper warmup and the biggest killer of all, stress. - 🎬 Part of intelligent training is knowing when you have to call an audible and veer off of the prescribed plan for the day to keep yourself safe and progressing. - 🎬 This week, I had a shit ton of stress thrown my way. Today was my scheduled heavy deadlift day. After the first warmup set, I could tell my central nervous system wasn’t about to have what I was about to do. So instead of conventional barbell deadlifts, I switched to trap bar deadlifts, reduced the weight by 25%, doubled the reps, and reduced the rest periods by 25%. - By reducing the intensity (weight) and switching to a trap bar setup, I reduced the risk of injury by putting my back in a safer work environment. By increasing the reps (volume) and cutting some time off of the rest periods, I made sure I was still able to get in some solid work and elicit a net positive training impact. - 🎬 So don’t be foolish and ignore what your body is trying to tell you. So @ironedgetraining’s Trap Bar 2.0... it’s pretty legit. . It does all the things a traditional trap bar lets you do but, with this design that has an ‘open’ side and two handle heights, it allows for even more versatility (like reverse lunges). . #ironedgetraining
